Thanks for posting the Riverwalk construction progress on the last stretch to connect the Belle Isle bridge. I love biking the Riverwalk! FYI: The play area in Mt Elliott Park with the pirate ship is a water spay feature that kids can play in on hot summer days. All of the water features in the park were designed in collaboration with Water Odyssey, an international designer of fountains and water parks. It been shut down for the past few years but hopefully it will be up and running this summer for the kiddos.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. Yes, I’m hoping the water is back on this year, but couldn’t find a confirmation. I also noticed the pirate ship is actually a Great Lakes Schooner, but everyone calls it a pirate ship.
So great to see. I really want them to connect Ralph Wilson to riverside park. That damn concrete plant is in the way, but they could sacrifice that desolate stretch of Jefferson to do it
Thank you so much for watching and the comment. I agree, I wish I could ride and run these trails/paths much more than I am able. Keep an eye out, I hope to have more Detroit stuff out this summer.
I’m so glad you posted this, we bike several times a week in the morning up to where the fence blocks this area, we were wondering what it was going to look like, it seems like it’s taking ages to complete that last step but hopefully soon. What a beautiful riverfront we have now and once this is completed.
Yes I totally agree, and can’t wait for this section to be opened. Cleaning up the toxic site has probably been the biggest challenge. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment.
I lived on East Grand Blvd when I was about 12 or 13 years of age. I remember there was a tunnel that you went under and came out on the bridge. Our home was right near where you went down under to get on the bridge. I haven't been back since I left in 1969. I was 13 years old. Would love to see it know.
I’m so glad you left this comment. You probably wouldn’t recognize the place as the Uniroyal plant has been gone for years. There is so much more public green space on the waterfront it’s incredible. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment, I truly appreciate it.
Thank you so much for watching the video and commenting. I so appreciate it. Coming from you this means a lot. Yes I'm looking forward to running the entire Detroit Riverwalk from Belle Isle to the Ambassador Bridge someday. Will be awesome for sure.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It is so great to hear from different spots around the world. Lots of exciting projects going on around here.
@@Knightmessenger I got a chance to run on the Uniroyal Promenade Tuesday night, it was amazing. Can’t wait to check out new JLG segment next week. Thanks for the update.
@@greatlaker I beginning to think that it could be more political. The path itself is only a few feet from being completed . A barrier or fence could be erected as a barrier between that extend of the Riverwalk itself and the rest of the site. I had even suggested that to someone who is part of the committee. I beginning to think that funding is being rerouted and used for something else.
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I tried researching a targeted opening date and have not found much, a recent Crain’s article indicated October 2023.

I like the way you think, all great ideas. A quick 18 holes of mini golf in the middle of a bike ride would be incredible. Back in the 1990’s Michael Jackson and Don Bardon we’re going to build an amusement park with a casino, but were denied one of the three casino licenses. I wonder how that would have turned out. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Great to see Detroit 👍

What an awesome update… super work buddy… informative and fun ✌️
Yeah the Riverwalk trail is such a great spot. Plans are to extend the west side to the Ambassador Bridge. Thanks for checking out the vlog.
@@greatlaker yeah, it looks super cool...I'll definitely have to get down there.

The plan is to go all the way to the Ambassador Bridge. Hopefully sooner than later. Thanks for watching and commenting. I truly appreciate it.
Looks like is going to be a great place to walk!
Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, I think when it’s completed it should be very nice. Can’t wait.

The underpass was removed in the 80s. I never knew about it until searching videos posted by the Detroit Historical Society.
Can’t wait to go for a run on it! Great video

As of Saturday, October 21, 2023: this section is now open!
Yes, I heard it was a great ribbon cutting ceremony. Can’t wait to bike or run that section. Thanks so much for the update.

I was told by a worker that it wont be completed for another year from now
