I’ve always thought that the Defiant was made unique just for storytelling. With the federation’s ability to mass produce ships, and perfect technologies I was always disappointed that I never saw a full squadron of defiant ships.
Very happy to hear that the Federation finally got around to using “defiant tech” on other ships
They did mass produce Defiants we just never see a massed force of them on screen. I've always wondered if they were trying to tone down the DS9 and B5 similarities and rumors of the franchises ripping off each other by avoiding a counterpart to the White Star fleet given the similarities between the ship designs. Both were incredibly well armed for their size, much smaller then a heavy ship of the setting, very fast and maneuverable, and equipped with new advanced forms of armor so having them operate in units might have been something DS9 decided not to do as well.
Even if they didn't have squadrens of Deviants patrolling Federation space, using some of its tech on a few of the smaller, more tactical, starships (Akira, Steamrunner, etc.) would seem like a really good idea.
Can you imagine the nerd-gasms that would erupt across the globe if we got to see an updated/refit Miranda warp into the action onscreen and let loose a barrage of torpedoes and Phaser Cannon fire at the enemy's ships!! (Especially if this occured after the Miranda decloacked!! 😲)

The Cardenas is one of my favourite ships ever designed and one of my favourite Eaglemoss models.
Was the "star system as a time capsule" your idea? It has to be one of the coolest ways to have old ships moved to present day.
If I'm not mistaken it was star trek online that had the idea so they had a way to explain in the game's cannon why they made the refit versions of the disco era ships, but triangulum did expand it and added more lore to it.

Awesome story for this class! In all honesty, I never liked the ship as designed for Discovery but the upgraded STO version is a beauty!
It's one my favorite ship designs in Star Trek Online. I wish the red nacelle caps where an option to add instead of the only the basic oranges ones.
Awesome ship and even better backstory (even if it's only Beta Cannon... for now anyway.) Wicked looking ship, I love that with all the updated tech it is now an extremely fast powerhouse of a ship. Gotta love the quad-nacelle designs!
I am very intrigued by the events you described here, Yard 39, Barian radiation event, project "New Life", etc. Would love to see something to flesh this out even more onscreen...

One of my final ships in Star Trek Online the U.S.S. Nia Nal, is one of these. She's a beauty. And so is the ship. ;)
Loving this ship. It's now my second favourite after the Sagan class. I wish they would refit the Nebula class in a similar way. This four engine design is something Starfleet should pursue further.

I dig the design and it's a perfect post-Synth attack warship. If the Defiant-class is the brass knuckle of tactical oriented ships and the Sovereigns and Akiras are the sword and shields, it seems to me the Buran tactical cruisers are the baseball bats with barbed wires around it. It's got all of the weapons and advanced sensors of a Defiant and the comforts comparable to at least an Intrepid-class so I'm thinking it's perfect for border patrols and interdiction. It's a utilitarian ship meant to take care of business and it does a damn good job at it. I think the Burans are cheaper and faster to produce than the Prometheus-class. It lacks the multi-vector attack mode but the amount of firepower and nimbleness of that ship under the command of an aggressive and tactical minded skipper could compensate for it.
I hope you introduce us to more updated 23rd century ships, though!

Well, Star Trek Picard made the Gagarin Class Canon, which is a modern refit of the Shepherd class. Since the Buran class is a refit from the same time period, I would assume that we shall see other ships like this in the future

I'm finding that the whole "9.x" warp factors should indicate that Starfleet needs a new system of measurement. It would make sense, especially if they finally develop trans-warp on a large scale to the point it comes standard

Well, he did say it had a devastating effect on biological lifeforms. Not sure if any of the components pf the ships would absorb this type of radiation.
Hopefully, they were not planning on using, or had already installed, bio-neural (?, Voyager tech) circuitry in any of the refits...

No, it didnt fail... It performed 2 Orbits of the Earth and returned landing horizontally as it was supposed too...

I know this isn't related to the Buran Class, but when you said one problem with the Inquiry class in Picard is that they were in the Discovery style, did Star Trek Online and Picard Season 2 fix that problem?

Buran likely isn't going to be canonized due to its similarity to the Sagan class :C

All time I see the ships of DSC all don't fit in canon. The redesign of the Buran class show me so much what have be can be if DSC placed from begin as an sequel.
Completely disagree with this comment, as the DSC classes fit better with canon then the TOS Constitution Class ever has!
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics Wy? Nothing in DSC does fit. All is in a too modern style and only with big beta canon storries like your it will get better.
Actually it does for the following reasons;
1) It fills in a time period we knew NOTHING about.
2) It fits nicely as a growth from the NX Classes, where as the Constitution Does not.
3) It has things like Aztecing and more mechanical looking hull accessories. Which again fits with the NX Class and also fits with TMP.
4) It shows that the Constitution Class was the odd ball, making it a special class which fits with what we know from Canon. No other starship class in Canon was so smooth looking...
5) TMP would show an Enterprise with Boxy Nacelles, again, showing the TOS Connie was the exception, not the rule!
And these design aesthetic would continue on right through every Century in Trek. Where as TOS's elements would not. Again making DSC fit far better in canon then the TOS Connie ever did. And although I LOVE the TOS Era, and that aesthetic, with all my experience making videos and analyzing ship designs again, I say you are 100% Incorrect with your assessment in this case! :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics On this angle you are right. There is TOS a brake between ENT and MOV.
In the howle DSC don't fit in ST Bad Storries from producers wich don't understand the philosophie of ST.
I disagree again, that is just a personal opinion you have... But I respect it!

Actually no, it makes quite a lot of sense... After all it is a set of rules on what is fact with in that fictional universe as set up by those that actually own it...
It's all star trek.......lol
But it actually isn't... There is Star Trek, then there are those that buy that right to use the Trek name under the understanding that what they create has no bearing on the franchise itself, and then there's fan creations, which again have no meaning to the franchise at all... lol
