Loch Lomond 5yr Distillery Edition 2 review

So this is Loch Lomond's 2nd Distillery Edition. And...my second review of a distillery edition. A strange little number this but...as I've come to learn...sometimes you can expect strange from Loch Lomond. When you have the ability to produce the wide variety of whiskies that they have...why do mudane??

Single Malt: Whisk(e)y made by one distillery using malted barley.
Single Grain: Whisk(e)y made by one distillery using one or a selection of grains (usually corn, wheat, rye, etc.). Also used to describe whiskies made in column stills.
Blended Malt: Whisk(e)y made by blending single malts from more than one distillery.
Blended Grain: Whisk(e)y made by blending single grains from more than one distillery.
Blended Scotch or Blend (any other country): Whisky made by blending single malt and single grain (whiskies) from one or more distilleries.
Chill Filtered: A process performed by some producers which sees the whisk(e)y chilled to around 0°to10°, before being screen filtered to remove oily residue left over from the maturation.
N.A.S. Non age stated whisky. No age on bottle.
U.S. Proof: Proof is 2 x ABV. Example…100 Proof = 50% ABV.
Imperial/British Proof: ABV is 4/7 of Proof. Example…100 Proof = 57.1% ABV.

Not available here, but I enjoy dry whisky and there are some good ideas going on here. I think I would consider, especially for the price. cheers!

Excellent. Been waiting for this review! I was lucky to get a bottle for 40 quid(!) via post from the distillery.
As a newly minted peat-head at the time I bemoaned the lack of obvious smoke on my first couple of tries. At 50ppm I did not expect it to be so subtle.
So it's been great to have that validated.
Yes the smoke is there but it's not the primary focus.
This whisky has grown and grown on me to the point I'm now worried what I'll do once it has gone since it cannot be replaced.
