About Arcadia of My Youth わが青春のアルカディア:
A young Captain Harlock wages a rebel war against aliens after he surrenders his ship.
This 1982 film depicts the origin of Leiji Matsumoto's seminal character Captain Harlock. At one time, it was considered to be the central hub of the so-called Leijiverse with the events depicted in other works such as Galaxy Express 999 and 1978's Space Pirate Captain Harlock television series occurring sometime after.

I just found the original soundtrack for this, it was a blind dig and now i need to watch the movie, the music is incredible 😊

Luffy would agree on it, Harlock's time might have passed but the spirit of the romantic pirate lived on.
Captain harlock is one of my favorite animes ever it sucks that there's barely any english speaking fans of it.

@@emersonslater8144 It did, although it was apparently heavily cut and censored compared to the original Japanese film.
The original series also got a dub by Harmony Gold, called Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years, but it was given the Robotech treatment of being mixed with a different series (Queen Millennia) to increase the episode count so it was suitable for syndication. As a result the series doesn't really resemble the Japanese original very much, and most fans consider it an entirely separate thing.
In France, however, the original anime and Arcadia Of My Youth, and SSX: Endless Orbit all received French dubs that were faithful to the original Japanese versions, and the anime is quite legendary among those who grew up in the 1980s.
Came here while reading the manga. Definitely fuking absolutely watching this next.
I used to have the Celebrity Kids version of it, retitled and re-edited into "Vengeance of the Space Pirate" on VHS. I can't believe the original series hasn't been HD remastered with a proper English dub, after all this time... ☠️
I have met numerous French people who remember watching "Albator: le corsair du la space", the French dub. I found a VHS of Arcadia in a video store in the 90s
I still have the english dubbed My Youth in Arcadia on old school VHS.

@@sudicalwigPlenty dubs are good. All the dragon ball series, bleach, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, death note, one piece, full metal alchemist, code geass, bleach, AOT, cow boy bebop anything done by Funimation is good. People like sub cause they can’t tell a bad Japanese voice like they can with English. Dragon ball is garbage I would never watch any of them in sub same for Yu Yu Hakusho. The whole sub only thing is just bs that stuck up anime fans say.
@@TennoHakiThere were plenty of horrible dubs in the 90s. Manga Video released many. The issue was mainly that they treated it like silly kids cartoons.

En mexico yo vi la pelicula del capitan harlock en arcadia o arcadia of my youth de 1982 lo paso por canal 5 xhgc de televisa mexico en el verano de 1995 tenia 15 años y de ahi me gusto el personaje que hasta ahora el capitan harlock es de mis personajes favoritos ademas de que gusta el genero de piratas espaciales tuvo una continuacion en 1983 llamado arcadia of my youth ssx donde la batalla contra los illmidus continua lo malo que esta continuacion no llego a mexico y solo que sacaron la serie de 1978 en su doblaje mexicano original y solo en algunos lugares de latinoamerica se transmtio la serie pero en mexico no lo mismo paso con koninchan y solo espero que netflix logre sacar la serie original de 1978 asi como la pelicula de 1982 y su serie de 1983 que es la continuacion de la pelicula para asi ver el final de los illmudus

so this feels like cybor 009. long haired guy one eye open. blonde shy girl. traving on space weird ship. same director for legend of super galaxy movie which for me equel to star wars level.
