    So if I’m understanding this correctly ,you’re not adding anything extra than the interfacing which is already there. It’s the sand stitch which is basically a very small stitch that gives it its puffiness ???

      yes, the batting is wool, and it has quite a high loft but only really "Pops" when I stitched around it with a "sand stitch" which is where you 'wiggle around the applique' then stitch densly ( sand stitch ) within the wiggle part.

    Which stitch is sand stitch?
    Google shows a knitting sand stitch.

      The sand stitch I am talking about was something I saw in Lisa Calle’s video on cross hatching around Applique. It’s where I stitch around the Applique with a wiggly line to travel to the next linethen stitch heavily within the wiggly line to really punch the fabric down around the edge of the Applique. It ends up looking like sand .
