Hey flossy love your videos amazing!!! You really put your heart and soul into being honest in the real world reviews. I am a huge tech fan in itself. I am one who did trade in the fold 4 for the 5 lol because I live in Florida and one of the things that bothered me about the fold 4 was the lack of 1700 nitts and if you live in Florida like me and in direct sunlight a lot it was really a downside so much so that I would just use my s23 ultra in the sunlight. But I would use the fold 4 in a commuting setting such as being on the train or on an airplane or being in bed as you said in your video lol. I do appreciate aesthetically Samsung fixing the hinge and also fixing which I guess they do every year is putting in the newest chip Snapdragon Gen 2 in it to me that also was a annoying issue for me because the fold 4 was somewhat laggy and now that I got the fold 5, it is so much smoother and it basically is a refined fold 4 now called fold 5 lol. I also notice since they fixed the hinge when I close a fold 5 It doesn't clamp as hard when I close it it's more of a softer tone . I have the pixel fold but again not as bright and no reverse wireless charge and the software although great pixel software which is smooth and easy but still lacks the productivity features that you find in the fold 4/ fold 5. Really pixel fold 1800 bucks !!! In my opinion fold 4/5 way better. In my line of work it makes my job so much easier, especially during multitasking. Again, I always appreciate your videos. Flossy and I appreciate your amazing honesty and you're just down to earth man. Keep up the good work man. I love my fold 3, I've used it for a year and a half and babyed it but the screen on the inside craped out.....don't think I will get the 5...probably go back to the big ultra phone again....

I bought the Z Fold 5 coming from an S21 Ultra. It is such an amazing experience. I had my reservations on durability, but after watching Jerry's video, I bought it right away. This phone changes how I typically use a smartphone. My iPhone 13 Pro now finds itself inside the bag for an entire day sometimes.

I'm upgrading my S21 Ultra this week, I'm at a toss up between the fold and the flip. But as of now it seems like the Fold is gonna be the one. I primarily use my phone to play video games and watch movies and videos so the flip seems to be the superior phone in that regard. Also with the current trade in special I can get it for pretty cheap so that's a plus.

I've switched to android, in particular s23 ultra. Apple have less and less to offer in their new models and I was getting bored. Samsung have given me a new lease of life as far as phones go and I'm loving how customisable it is.
Tbh, I traded in my P7 Pro for the Z Fold 5 because of the insane trade in value they gave me ($1275). This is my first folding phone and I love it tbh. I've been very critical of these devices from day 1 and after 5 generations, they got me hooked

A lot of big tech youtubers clearly don't care about the product they're reviewing, and barely manage to squeeze out a 4 minute video on a phone, and only because it's trending at the moment. No one seems to be as genuine as Floss. Huge props for being a real one.
Not exactly a technical review, more like a Real World review and that is why I love Flossy, after watching all of the technical channels on a product I always wait for Flossy to see how things work on the REAL WORLD, without a Flossy Review I don't buy my product.

I ordered one cause Samsung just increased their trade in offer to $1200 for Z Fold 4. Considering that I only paid $700 for it last yr, I just couldn't pass that offer up. It's not much of an upgrade, but I do love the new Icy Blue color and the slimmer design with zero hinge gap is definitely worth it to me.
I bought my first Fold on Monday. 20 minutes into your review I was ready to return it. After your full review I loved it. I enlarged the font which took care of the mini front screen. Love your reviews.

@@Maxx134a Chinese phones with ads everywhere? I prefer the One UI experience, where everything is about smoothness and productivity. I have nothing against Chinese phones, but their OS is not as refined as One UI is. Check out all the settings you can change on a Samsung phone, along with S-Pen capabilities and then check out what Good Lock does. No phone ever even comes close to that. All smartphone cameras are equal when compared to DSLR, so that argument is void, and who buys a folding phone to use the smaller screen? Then buy a regular candybar phone :)
Hey Floss. I bought the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra a few months after it got out because of your review. As of today, the phone is already paid for and I am still waiting for the phone that has enough bells and whistles to replace it. I also have the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, and I am very comfortable traveling with it. To be honest, I have been tempted by the Folds for a bit but I concurr with you, prices now days are TGDH. Thanks for your reviews and to be super honest all the time.
Always respect the flossy opinion, but I can honestly say I've not had any complaints with my zfold 4... I did just order the 5 because of the $1300 off, And my wife wanted the 4.... I'd absolutely love to try the vivio, it looks awesome! I'd be on the pixel, but google decided no pen 😢

Went from the s22+ to the fold 5. Absolutely loving my phone. This is my first fold phone. So the issues some people have with it not being this or that doesn't affect me one way or the other. Its all new to me
Yeah you make a good point about the s23 ultra. I ditched my z flip 3 for the s23 ultra instead of waiting for the new foldables. Zero regrets, it's so much more phone per dollar. And the battery life is great.
Even if i have no intentions of buying a phone, i still love these Real Reviews. I think the Pixel Fold is the best foldable to buy since the outer display is closer to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Hopefully they can get rid of some bezel on the inside display with the Pixel Fold 2, and increase battery life. Hot take: we need some modern phones with a 16:9 aspect ratio and super thin bezels.
Nah. Bezels are good to have so you have less accidental touches. I rly like the narrow screen on the fold 5 because it has the old school feeling of a home telefon. And it fits amazing in the hand for åhonecalls and one handed use. Just bump the font up if you have bad sight.

I love your reviews. I traded in my s23 ultra for the fold 5. No regrets at all tbh, I am not a camera user or active on social media. My phone use is reading, watching and gaming. I was a bit apprehensive between the time I placed the order and the time I got the phone, but honestly I cant go back to a slab phone now. When you raise the DPI setting the fold fits so much on the inside display that its legitimately a game changer for engaging with content. I chatted to a friend who has the fold 4 and we concluded that if you're almost exclusively into taking photos and social media and you go out and about a lot then a regular slab phone is sufficient. But if you like reading and watching and browsing the web a lot more and prefer to see more content on screen, you're probably ready to experience the fold.
I have been a note user since note 2. After s22 ultra, I gave fold 4 a go. I despised the narrow front screen for starters. I use the s pen all the time at work and unfolding the phone on the go to write on a surface that is not even flat (because of the case) was so inconvenient and annoying. The minute s23 ultra came out, I switched. Will never go back to fold, unless they fix these issues for me.
Its design is stupid and the price is not worth it. I rather have a Note phone with phone jack, fast charger, earphones and removable battery. Real practical features back in the days.
I agree with you 100%. I preordered the fold 2,3, and 4... This was a hell no. Compared to the S23U the battery and camera are absolute garbage. I will say I do find one handed mode on the fold 4 is way better than the S23U, and at the same time 2 handed experience is better on the Fold 4. So I'm sticking with the Fold 4 daily, but I really miss the camera and battery or the S23U.

Im going from an S23 Ultra to a Fold 5. Ultimately the S23 Ultra is a better phone but I'm looking for a change from a slab phone. I'm also getting the Fold 5 for $380 out of pocket after trading in my S23 U + also getting a free phone line for 12 months through Spectrum (will cancel after the 12 months lol). Too good of a deal to pass up. Originally got the S23 U for $600.. carrier deals in the US are great if you take advantage of them at the right time..
I agree; at that price point it should definitely come with a Super Fast Charger 2.0, a case, a built-in BT S Pen which should definitely work on the outside screen, and should have the same camera setup as the S23 Ultra, and should be thinner and probably wider but shorter, so it plays widescreen content better and is easier to use one-handed. MicroSD card would be nice to add 1TB.
I just ordered a renewed Fold 5 on the jungle website for $920. I figured that was the best route to see if I like the fold architecture before spending two grand. I will post back what I think of it. Update: I've had it for a little over 24 hours. It is a renewed device but honestly everything from the paint to the battery looks and performs beautifully.. hard to tell it's not a new device. Coming from the s23 ultra I am extremely impressed. The camera takes great pictures but I'm told it isn't as good as my Ultra. Hard for me to tell a difference in the picture quality at this point. What is amazingly different is the form factor. I run a small business using my phone for 90% of everything. This is a game changer it is so nice to have such a large screen. I think I am now a fanboi of the Fold. From what Flossy says I'm not missing much verses the Fold 6 and I'm sure I will get a nice chunk of change for the trade-in if I decide to get the Fold 7. I am extremely happy. Thank you Flossy😊
That's super valid about not wanting to open the phone in a lot of situations to be honest I have a fold3 and I used it closed 90% of the time I've gone months without opening it up it's comfortable for me to use one-handed like this but for those rare times where I want the full screen experience it's so convenient cuz I'm not about to go reach for a tablet while I'm just chilling on the couch if I want to read a comic or something
same. I honestly think... people just don't get what this device is about. They approach using it as a candy bar phone instead of understanding that the form factor changes everything
I went from the 3 to this 5 and definitely feels like a nice upgrade. I agree on a lot of your complaints, though. Why am I spending more than any other phone on the planet and not getting the spen and worse cams than their cheaper models? I do like the front screen, though easy one-handed use for me, and I guess my eyes have gotten too bad yet, lol.
@@DrRDW Just the new chipset and the fact that my phone is slowing down and the battery is not as good as it used to be was worth it. I like that new hinge also. That cams are also a big improvement from the 3.
I still have a samsung 21 ultra it's been a nightmare since the day I bought it. The watch 3 too. They both got stuck. Had to take it back!😮 I was hoping I was going to get good news for this phone😮 😢
On the surface, the 4 and 5 would appear to be the same except for the hinge and as you say the display differences. However, if you do a deeper dive you will find a number of other subtle differences that make the phone better. For starters, the manufacturing process is different. The 5 uses a new 4nm process that results in more efficient power usage and faster processing. The 5 also uses the Gen 2 Snapdragon 8 running at a slightly faster speed. The phone also appears to be slightly narrower which along with the narrow (fold flat) hinge makes the phone fit better in the hand when folded. I've been using the phone for work and personal and I can tell the phone is more snappy. For me, the "update" from the 4 to the 5 made sense. Through warranty I actually got the 4 from the 3 at no cost. Interestingly the clear case I had on the 4 fits the 5 as well. Thanks for the detailed review...

Definitely agree on the upgrade from Z Fold 4 to 5 being Boo-boo the Foolish.😂 I upgraded from a Z Fold 3 with a bubbling screen protector. Rocking Unicorn Beetle Case with S-Pen and loving it. Solid upgrade from the Z Fold 3. One gripe. That front panel needs to be S-Pen compatible. 😠

Some good info man! you know whats crazy, the fold 1 included a case, preinstalled screen protector in the outside screen, a charger and the buds - for even less that what these new phones MSRP at, also the fold 4 cases has interchangeable stand and spen - which now you have to buy two separate cases. There sure is alot of things that samsung is doing that just dont make sense. Taking away what they gave you before and charging you more

Got a Zfold 4, traded it for galaxy s23 ultra for few months and now traded my s23 ultra to zfold 5. I would say, once you go fold with the wide screen option, its hard to go back to a regular slab phone. Now the difference from fold 4 vs fold 5 is not significant. I noticed the crease is less visible and brighter screen. If you have a fold4, i dont think its necessary to upgrade to fold5. Now i did swap my s23 ultra to fold5 which is a downgrade on camera (i usually dont take a lot of pictures anyway) and battery but still im overaall happy since i like a wider screen now with better multi tasking window. I am a healthcare worker and samsung has a special offer for first responders and other profession. I got the zfold 5 for $600+ with the trade in of s23 ultra.
I know you said that S23U has better cameras compared to ZF5, but, since you got both of them, what's your opinion regarding this matter? Is ZF5 lacking a lot in camera department compared to S23U? Or just a little bit?
@@djmatheusbueno if you are using the back camera, for me, its barely noticeable. Although i would say, i tried taking a picture of the moon using my s23Ultra and it can really capture it showinfg the craters of the moon, i still have not tried it on the fold lol. Now if you use the front selfie camera, then s23 ultra has the advantage.
Nice vibes on the vid. I have the fold 4 - love it soooo much. I never understood the gripes about the flat folding. The phone is amazing - I use for work for reading for games for DEX - its wild. SLim again which I like as portable - then we have the BIG FINISH unfolded. I loooovvvee it
I had a fold 4, and I upgraded to a fold 5, and it's worth it. I love that fold 5 is flat when closing, not like the fold 4. So yes, it was worth the upgrade.

Idea: Why not add another centimeter or so of width to the phone to allow for an s pen to slide into like the Note/Ultras. It will also make the outter display a bit wider.
I was gonna buy the Samsung S23 Ultra here where I live in Australia, but it costs $2,700 and that's including the power plug, which is too expensive for me. So, in the end I decided to buy the 1TB memory card, from $140 from Bunnings warehouse online, for my Samsung S10+ 📱😀👍
Hey Floss!! I knew I wasn't upgrading my Fold 4 before I watched your review but I can't help but watch and have you reaffirm my position. I totally agree with your assessment of the boxing and what you get for $1,800!! I know Samsung and Apple have been sued in Europe and Brazil about not having chargers in the box. If I am not mistaken both companies lost and now have to put chargers in the box!! Have you read into the lawsuits? I look forward to hearing from you and keep the vids coming brother!!!
Aloha Flossy, I did upgrade to the Fold 5 from the Fold 3, and it definitely feels like an upgrade! I took your advice on the Fold4 last year, being primarily a camera upgrade and waited until the Fold 5. I did get the pen case; however the pen fell out on the first day and my new puppy destroyed it😭! I always appreciate the honest reviews that's why I subscribed. I am a Galaxy fanboy through and through. I hope the Fold 6 is a major major upgrade. Mahalo for the Real reviews!
did you also notice how much longer the battery was? it was night and day for me tbh. It gets me like 30-40% more battery through out the day. I used to get around 3 hours 45 min screen on for fold 3 and now im getting around 5 and a half to 6 and a half screen on now.
Great review. I upgraded from the 2 to the 5 and there is a big difference. Agree that charger and pen/case should be included especially as we are charged more for devices in the UK. The only positive was the good trade in deal.
That is the number one reason why I sent my z fold 4. I was in too many situations where I could not open up the phone to use it but I basically had to because that front screen was just terrible. That's why I prefer Pixel fold.
I had the Fold 3 and loved it. Ultimately, it had too many shortfalls imo, so I went to the S22 Ultra. Fold 5 isn't improved enough for me to drop 1800 bucks. That's TGH! I'm looking forward to what Apple's gonna bring and the new Galactus in about 6-8 months.

It's great to finally hear someone who agrees with me that the cover screen is too narrow! Everyone else I've talked to praises the narrow screen, I want it to be like a regular phone when folded!
The use case examples: like the grocery store- one handed drives the point home about that screen. And super useful for reviews. I'm personally waiting for pixel fold 2 hoping they improve the cameras and app size support

I'm doing the same, the trade in value was good and well if I hate it the S24 ultra won't be too far behind. I had not one but 2 pixel fold and both had miserable reception even with 14 beta. Cool phone, but not $1800 cool. Looking forward to the fold 5...I think lol
It looks like every foldable outer display will have its own pros and cons. So it just depends on the person. I'm still using the Fold 3 and I'll never go back (but I won't upgrade until at least the 6 for a lot of the reasons you mentioned). I use to think a Fold with the pixels outer display would be the way to go, but the more you use the outer screen, the less you use the inner larger display. And really the point of the foldable is being able to bring a tablet with you, right in your pocket. The way I see it, is the outer screen is just an add on to the product I really want; the inner screen. I am that guy that unfolds his phone in the elevator to scroll twitter on the big ass screen. The outer display, I'll use that when I only have one hand, or answering the phone, or quick looks here and there. The biggest issue for sure is battery life. But it sounds like from the z fold 3 to the fold 5, that has gotten a bit better.
Coming from the Fold 3. I even got a Pixel 7 Pro (which i absolutely love) but went back to my fold 3. I think the 5 is a worthy upgrade, its not gonna come close to the pixel camera but it's that large screen that makes all the difference. I haven't got my hands on it yet, but I know I'm going to be happy, so glad that the Pixel Fold was delayed here as that was a close call (price is too crazy anyway).
I'm got my Pixel Fold only 900 no trade in Att kept my Z Fold 3 on the shelf it's a beast after 3 weeks went to Android 14 beta battery life though roof almost 2 days 7 hours on screen with games UA-cam everything else. Killer cameras with Google software the best pictures on a foldable.
I Love my fold 4. I wouldn't go back to anything else. You're right, if you have some vision issues, maybe not for you, but put on glasses and it's all great again. Half the time I don't open it but it's just awesome when you do need to open it and know why you bought it. Excellent Excellent phone in my opinion
I love watching your videos man. I was actually looking forward to the Pixel Fold as my first foldable device, but unfortunately, they haven't released it in Australia. Always been a Pixel user when it comes to Android and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 intrigued me at when I tried it out at the store. Gotta say I'm very happy with the Fold 5. Samsung has made great use of the inner display with their software optimization. The front cover display is without a doubt quite jarring to use and I really do wish next years model has a wider display. I love how you tell it as it is! In Australia it's close to $2500 and they SHOULD include accessories in the box to justify the price. Luckily, their was a promotion going on at my Telco dealer and scored myself a free Watch 6 and Galaxy Buds 2 pro!
Great review as always even though I disagree with most of your opinions on the foldable phones. I do agree that if you have a fold 4 you should wait because it's not enough changes. I'm coming from a fold 3 and I think it's worth especially with the deal I got. The foldable phones are meant for certain types of people, I personally use all the features all the time. I think most people do not use their phones to their full potential and the foldables have to be fully utilized to justify their worth. Great review but this is phone is a W but it should have been cheaper.

@Maxx134a The front display is not a problem for me and I like the form factor. The pictures I take on this phone have great quality but I am not a big picture person. I have used the pixel fold and it's not bad but I prefer the fold 5 for its better features.
I agree 100%. My biggest gripe is the front display is way too narrow and pretty much unless. I rarely use my Fold 3. I use my S22 daily. My fold 3 is left in my car. Hope Samsung watch this video and make the much needed adjustment. Love the foldable technology, Samsung has all the technology to make the best foldable phone. It's going on Fold 5. I don't know why it is still the same. Its waste of money until they make the changes.
Flossy! Love you but I must say that the 5 is sooo much better than the 4, even if only for the flat folding hinge. But the other tweaks help too. I use my phone constantly and the upgrades are worth the additional cost. Come gimme a slap for that, I'm in the West Village...
I think magsafe should be coming to all phones soon bc its part of the univeral Qi 2 standard that's coming. Hoping the S24 series and all other android phones bring it next year
I hope so. I just got the Cadaube Sheathe for my S23 Ultra. It’s my favorite case for it, but damn it would have been better if MagSafe was added to it. I have the Uag monarch with Magsafe, but it doesn’t nearly feel as good in the hand as the Cadaube.

Traded mine...the 5 is seriously thinner... like way thinner! Also hinge is smoother and feels better. Saw a camera comparison video, looks better too... I'm happy🤷
Hey Floss, incredible review, I currently have an S21 Ultra and am do for an upgrade, would you say switching from normal phone to fold phone takes a long time to get used to? Worth the upgrade? Thanks!
I've been using a Fold as my daily since the 3 came out. The 3 was nice, but the hinge messed up a few months outside warranty of course. Claimed it on insurance, received a new Fold4 as replacement. The 4 is much improved, wider cover screen, better camera, better battery, and so far better hinge. I love the fold series. Butnit really hasnt changed much from the 2/3. Im waiting to see what the 6 brings to the table. IF they add an internal SPen that can laso write on the cover screen? And that screen is even wider? Now thatll be the one. And with SD gen3 battery life? Fingers crossed. If not im sure loving this OP12/Note9 combo lol.
I think Samsung will come hard next with the Fold 5, because since this year it was all about the Flip 5 they didn’t want to take anything away from that. So I’m predicting MAYBE next year they will do more with the Fold 5 and make it wider like the Pixel.
I owned a fold 3 previously. Wasn't impressed - replaced with s23 ultra. Was happy with that until I saw the Fold 5. I bought one. It's the most incredible device I've ever owned. The cameras are excellent. The battery life matches the s23 ultra for my usage. The step change from Fold 3 to 5 is huge. Perhaps not so 4 to 5. But DO buy this phone. It's unbelievable. Dont miss the s23 ultra slab one bit. Also love the outer display. Difficulty in typing? Nah - swipe works incredibly well. Just change the font size if you can't read the text! I like Floss's reviews normally. This one was not great - sorry dude. This phone is incredible and streets ahead of its rivals from a hardware and software combination perspective. Buy it if you can. You'll see.

Sorry Flossy but I need to trade in Fold 4. It already has a dent and it bothers me. On top of that the screen protector for the inner screens needed to come off it was stripping so bad and now the screens have scratches. So Fold 5 here I come. PS I already brought it but needed to see your review before I open it. Great review as usual!
Gotta agree to disagree on this one... MAJOR upgrade, feels great in the hands, feels premium, from each generation of the Fold, owned them all, and this is hands down the best... Maybe it's that new car smell clouding my judgement, but the screens, the graphics, the clarity, the hardware, it is all an upgrade, and worth the $$$
Finally a real honest review. I’m a profoundly hearing impaired 69 year old white guy who loves music and relies heavily on streaming directly to my hearing aids. My OLD phone was a Galaxy S9 + and was not playing well with my new set of MFI hearing aids so I jumped ship and bought a IPhone 14 that worked a little better but I’m going nuts learning about Apple. Z Fold 5 sure looks tasty but I’m also tempted by Z Fold 6. Thanks for sharing.

Hey flossy love your videos amazing!!! You really put your heart and soul into being honest in the real world reviews. I am a huge tech fan in itself. I am one who did trade in the fold 4 for the 5 lol because I live in Florida and one of the things that bothered me about the fold 4 was the lack of 1700 nitts and if you live in Florida like me and in direct sunlight a lot it was really a downside so much so that I would just use my s23 ultra in the sunlight. But I would use the fold 4 in a commuting setting such as being on the train or on an airplane or being in bed as you said in your video lol. I do appreciate aesthetically Samsung fixing the hinge and also fixing which I guess they do every year is putting in the newest chip Snapdragon Gen 2 in it to me that also was a annoying issue for me because the fold 4 was somewhat laggy and now that I got the fold 5, it is so much smoother and it basically is a refined fold 4 now called fold 5 lol. I also notice since they fixed the hinge when I close a fold 5 It doesn't clamp as hard when I close it it's more of a softer tone . I have the pixel fold but again not as bright and no reverse wireless charge and the software although great pixel software which is smooth and easy but still lacks the productivity features that you find in the fold 4/ fold 5. Really pixel fold 1800 bucks !!! In my opinion fold 4/5 way better. In my line of work it makes my job so much easier, especially during multitasking. Again, I always appreciate your videos. Flossy and I appreciate your amazing honesty and you're just down to earth man. Keep up the good work man. In your perspective in the tech world really helps me make better money saving decisions which you know in this day and age is very important. May God bless you and your family ❤️

I love my fold 3, I've used it for a year and a half and babyed it but the screen on the inside craped out.....don't think I will get the 5...probably go back to the big ultra phone again....

I bought the Z Fold 5 coming from an S21 Ultra. It is such an amazing experience. I had my reservations on durability, but after watching Jerry's video, I bought it right away. This phone changes how I typically use a smartphone. My iPhone 13 Pro now finds itself inside the bag for an entire day sometimes.
Any fold would gave you a great experience. You picked one with worst cameras, as all competition having better cameras and more usable front screen.

I'm upgrading my S21 Ultra this week, I'm at a toss up between the fold and the flip. But as of now it seems like the Fold is gonna be the one. I primarily use my phone to play video games and watch movies and videos so the flip seems to be the superior phone in that regard. Also with the current trade in special I can get it for pretty cheap so that's a plus.

Samsung have given me a new lease of life as far as phones go and I'm loving how customisable it is.
Tbh, I traded in my P7 Pro for the Z Fold 5 because of the insane trade in value they gave me ($1275). This is my first folding phone and I love it tbh. I've been very critical of these devices from day 1 and after 5 generations, they got me hooked

No one seems to be as genuine as Floss. Huge props for being a real one.

I ordered one cause Samsung just increased their trade in offer to $1200 for Z Fold 4. Considering that I only paid $700 for it last yr, I just couldn't pass that offer up. It's not much of an upgrade, but I do love the new Icy Blue color and the slimmer design with zero hinge gap is definitely worth it to me.

@@Maxx134a Chinese phones with ads everywhere? I prefer the One UI experience, where everything is about smoothness and productivity. I have nothing against Chinese phones, but their OS is not as refined as One UI is. Check out all the settings you can change on a Samsung phone, along with S-Pen capabilities and then check out what Good Lock does. No phone ever even comes close to that. All smartphone cameras are equal when compared to DSLR, so that argument is void, and who buys a folding phone to use the smaller screen? Then buy a regular candybar phone :)
Hey Floss. I bought the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra a few months after it got out because of your review. As of today, the phone is already paid for and I am still waiting for the phone that has enough bells and whistles to replace it. I also have the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, and I am very comfortable traveling with it. To be honest, I have been tempted by the Folds for a bit but I concurr with you, prices now days are TGDH. Thanks for your reviews and to be super honest all the time.

Went from the s22+ to the fold 5. Absolutely loving my phone. This is my first fold phone. So the issues some people have with it not being this or that doesn't affect me one way or the other. Its all new to me
Yeah you make a good point about the s23 ultra. I ditched my z flip 3 for the s23 ultra instead of waiting for the new foldables. Zero regrets, it's so much more phone per dollar. And the battery life is great.

I think the Pixel Fold is the best foldable to buy since the outer display is closer to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Hopefully they can get rid of some bezel on the inside display with the Pixel Fold 2, and increase battery life.

Nah. Bezels are good to have so you have less accidental touches. I rly like the narrow screen on the fold 5 because it has the old school feeling of a home telefon. And it fits amazing in the hand for åhonecalls and one handed use. Just bump the font up if you have bad sight.

I'm using a s22 ultra and even that I'm debating if I want to get myself the new zf5. you're spot on about how often would someone unfold the phone only for something meant to be quick. still considering I have one more day to take advantage of the pre order promo.
I love your reviews. I traded in my s23 ultra for the fold 5. No regrets at all tbh, I am not a camera user or active on social media. My phone use is reading, watching and gaming. I was a bit apprehensive between the time I placed the order and the time I got the phone, but honestly I cant go back to a slab phone now. When you raise the DPI setting the fold fits so much on the inside display that its legitimately a game changer for engaging with content.
I chatted to a friend who has the fold 4 and we concluded that if you're almost exclusively into taking photos and social media and you go out and about a lot then a regular slab phone is sufficient. But if you like reading and watching and browsing the web a lot more and prefer to see more content on screen, you're probably ready to experience the fold.
You should have stayed with the ultra and use a tablet lol
S23U whilst out and about, S9 Tablet at home. That works better for me.

I have been a note user since note 2. After s22 ultra, I gave fold 4 a go. I despised the narrow front screen for starters. I use the s pen all the time at work and unfolding the phone on the go to write on a surface that is not even flat (because of the case) was so inconvenient and annoying. The minute s23 ultra came out, I switched. Will never go back to fold, unless they fix these issues for me.
Its design is stupid and the price is not worth it. I rather have a Note phone with phone jack, fast charger, earphones and removable battery. Real practical features back in the days.

I agree with you 100%. I preordered the fold 2,3, and 4... This was a hell no. Compared to the S23U the battery and camera are absolute garbage. I will say I do find one handed mode on the fold 4 is way better than the S23U, and at the same time 2 handed experience is better on the Fold 4. So I'm sticking with the Fold 4 daily, but I really miss the camera and battery or the S23U.

Im going from an S23 Ultra to a Fold 5. Ultimately the S23 Ultra is a better phone but I'm looking for a change from a slab phone. I'm also getting the Fold 5 for $380 out of pocket after trading in my S23 U + also getting a free phone line for 12 months through Spectrum (will cancel after the 12 months lol). Too good of a deal to pass up. Originally got the S23 U for $600.. carrier deals in the US are great if you take advantage of them at the right time..
I agree; at that price point it should definitely come with a Super Fast Charger 2.0, a case, a built-in BT S Pen which should definitely work on the outside screen, and should have the same camera setup as the S23 Ultra, and should be thinner and probably wider but shorter, so it plays widescreen content better and is easier to use one-handed. MicroSD card would be nice to add 1TB.

I just ordered a renewed Fold 5 on the jungle website for $920. I figured that was the best route to see if I like the fold architecture before spending two grand. I will post back what I think of it.
Update: I've had it for a little over 24 hours. It is a renewed device but honestly everything from the paint to the battery looks and performs beautifully.. hard to tell it's not a new device. Coming from the s23 ultra I am extremely impressed. The camera takes great pictures but I'm told it isn't as good as my Ultra. Hard for me to tell a difference in the picture quality at this point. What is amazingly different is the form factor. I run a small business using my phone for 90% of everything. This is a game changer it is so nice to have such a large screen. I think I am now a fanboi of the Fold. From what Flossy says I'm not missing much verses the Fold 6 and I'm sure I will get a nice chunk of change for the trade-in if I decide to get the Fold 7. I am extremely happy. Thank you Flossy😊
That's super valid about not wanting to open the phone in a lot of situations to be honest I have a fold3 and I used it closed 90% of the time I've gone months without opening it up it's comfortable for me to use one-handed like this but for those rare times where I want the full screen experience it's so convenient cuz I'm not about to go reach for a tablet while I'm just chilling on the couch if I want to read a comic or something

I went from the 3 to this 5 and definitely feels like a nice upgrade. I agree on a lot of your complaints, though. Why am I spending more than any other phone on the planet and not getting the spen and worse cams than their cheaper models? I do like the front screen, though easy one-handed use for me, and I guess my eyes have gotten too bad yet, lol.

On the surface, the 4 and 5 would appear to be the same except for the hinge and as you say the display differences. However, if you do a deeper dive you will find a number of other subtle differences that make the phone better. For starters, the manufacturing process is different. The 5 uses a new 4nm process that results in more efficient power usage and faster processing. The 5 also uses the Gen 2 Snapdragon 8 running at a slightly faster speed. The phone also appears to be slightly narrower which along with the narrow (fold flat) hinge makes the phone fit better in the hand when folded.
I've been using the phone for work and personal and I can tell the phone is more snappy. For me, the "update" from the 4 to the 5 made sense. Through warranty I actually got the 4 from the 3 at no cost. Interestingly the clear case I had on the 4 fits the 5 as well.

Some good info man! you know whats crazy, the fold 1 included a case, preinstalled screen protector in the outside screen, a charger and the buds - for even less that what these new phones MSRP at, also the fold 4 cases has interchangeable stand and spen - which now you have to buy two separate cases. There sure is alot of things that samsung is doing that just dont make sense. Taking away what they gave you before and charging you more

Got a Zfold 4, traded it for galaxy s23 ultra for few months and now traded my s23 ultra to zfold 5.
I would say, once you go fold with the wide screen option, its hard to go back to a regular slab phone. Now the difference from fold 4 vs fold 5 is not significant. I noticed the crease is less visible and brighter screen. If you have a fold4, i dont think its necessary to upgrade to fold5. Now i did swap my s23 ultra to fold5 which is a downgrade on camera (i usually dont take a lot of pictures anyway) and battery but still im overaall happy since i like a wider screen now with better multi tasking window.
I am a healthcare worker and samsung has a special offer for first responders and other profession. I got the zfold 5 for $600+ with the trade in of s23 ultra.
I know you said that S23U has better cameras compared to ZF5, but, since you got both of them, what's your opinion regarding this matter? Is ZF5 lacking a lot in camera department compared to S23U? Or just a little bit?
@@djmatheusbueno if you are using the back camera, for me, its barely noticeable. Although i would say, i tried taking a picture of the moon using my s23Ultra and it can really capture it showinfg the craters of the moon, i still have not tried it on the fold lol. Now if you use the front selfie camera, then s23 ultra has the advantage.

I had a fold 4, and I upgraded to a fold 5, and it's worth it. I love that fold 5 is flat when closing, not like the fold 4. So yes, it was worth the upgrade.

Idea: Why not add another centimeter or so of width to the phone to allow for an s pen to slide into like the Note/Ultras. It will also make the outter display a bit wider.
I was gonna buy the Samsung S23 Ultra here where I live in Australia, but it costs $2,700 and that's including the power plug, which is too expensive for me. So, in the end I decided to buy the 1TB memory card, from $140 from Bunnings warehouse online, for my Samsung S10+ 📱😀👍

I totally agree with your assessment of the boxing and what you get for $1,800!! I know Samsung and Apple have been sued in Europe and Brazil about not having chargers in the box. If I am not mistaken both companies lost and now have to put chargers in the box!! Have you read into the lawsuits? I look forward to hearing from you and keep the vids coming brother!!!

I took your advice on the Fold4 last year, being primarily a camera upgrade and waited until the Fold 5. I did get the pen case; however the pen fell out on the first day and my new puppy destroyed it😭! I always appreciate the honest reviews that's why I subscribed. did you also notice how much longer the battery was? it was night and day for me tbh. It gets me like 30-40% more battery through out the day. I used to get around 3 hours 45 min screen on for fold 3 and now im getting around 5 and a half to 6 and a half screen on now.
Great review. I upgraded from the 2 to the 5 and there is a big difference. Agree that charger and pen/case should be included especially as we are charged more for devices in the UK. The only positive was the good trade in deal.

That is the number one reason why I sent my z fold 4. I was in too many situations where I could not open up the phone to use it but I basically had to because that front screen was just terrible. That's why I prefer Pixel fold.
I had the Fold 3 and loved it. Ultimately, it had too many shortfalls imo, so I went to the S22 Ultra. Fold 5 isn't improved enough for me to drop 1800 bucks. That's TGH! I'm looking forward to what Apple's gonna bring and the new Galactus in about 6-8 months.
Samsung will give you 1000 for your trade in. Apple users get the same phone yr to yr

It's great to finally hear someone who agrees with me that the cover screen is too narrow! Everyone else I've talked to praises the narrow screen, I want it to be like a regular phone when folded!
The use case examples: like the grocery store- one handed drives the point home about that screen. And super useful for reviews. I'm personally waiting for pixel fold 2 hoping they improve the cameras and app size support

From a 23 Ultra to a Fold 5 here. Trying folds for a second time with a more open mind. It's definitely a change.
I'm doing the same, the trade in value was good and well if I hate it the S24 ultra won't be too far behind. I had not one but 2 pixel fold and both had miserable reception even with 14 beta. Cool phone, but not $1800 cool. Looking forward to the fold 5...I think lol
It looks like every foldable outer display will have its own pros and cons. So it just depends on the person. I'm still using the Fold 3 and I'll never go back (but I won't upgrade until at least the 6 for a lot of the reasons you mentioned). I use to think a Fold with the pixels outer display would be the way to go, but the more you use the outer screen, the less you use the inner larger display. And really the point of the foldable is being able to bring a tablet with you, right in your pocket. The way I see it, is the outer screen is just an add on to the product I really want; the inner screen. I am that guy that unfolds his phone in the elevator to scroll twitter on the big ass screen. The outer display, I'll use that when I only have one hand, or answering the phone, or quick looks here and there. The biggest issue for sure is battery life. But it sounds like from the z fold 3 to the fold 5, that has gotten a bit better.
Coming from the Fold 3. I even got a Pixel 7 Pro (which i absolutely love) but went back to my fold 3. I think the 5 is a worthy upgrade, its not gonna come close to the pixel camera but it's that large screen that makes all the difference. I haven't got my hands on it yet, but I know I'm going to be happy, so glad that the Pixel Fold was delayed here as that was a close call (price is too crazy anyway).
I'm got my Pixel Fold only 900 no trade in Att kept my Z Fold 3 on the shelf it's a beast after 3 weeks went to Android 14 beta battery life though roof almost 2 days 7 hours on screen with games UA-cam everything else. Killer cameras with Google software the best pictures on a foldable.

I Love my fold 4. I wouldn't go back to anything else. You're right, if you have some vision issues, maybe not for you, but put on glasses and it's all great again. Half the time I don't open it but it's just awesome when you do need to open it and know why you bought it. Excellent Excellent phone in my opinion
I went from a note 20 5g to the fold 5 and man i'm loving it..and got the storage upgrade at no additional cost which was nice
I love watching your videos man. I was actually looking forward to the Pixel Fold as my first foldable device, but unfortunately, they haven't released it in Australia. Always been a Pixel user when it comes to Android and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 intrigued me at when I tried it out at the store. Gotta say I'm very happy with the Fold 5. Samsung has made great use of the inner display with their software optimization. The front cover display is without a doubt quite jarring to use and I really do wish next years model has a wider display. I love how you tell it as it is! In Australia it's close to $2500 and they SHOULD include accessories in the box to justify the price. Luckily, their was a promotion going on at my Telco dealer and scored myself a free Watch 6 and Galaxy Buds 2 pro!
Great review as always even though I disagree with most of your opinions on the foldable phones. I do agree that if you have a fold 4 you should wait because it's not enough changes. I'm coming from a fold 3 and I think it's worth especially with the deal I got.
The foldable phones are meant for certain types of people, I personally use all the features all the time. I think most people do not use their phones to their full potential and the foldables have to be fully utilized to justify their worth. Great review but this is phone is a W but it should have been cheaper.
Any fold would gave you a great experience. You picking one with the worst cameras, as all competition having better cameras and more usable front screen. Should wait for the OnePlus
@Maxx134a The front display is not a problem for me and I like the form factor. The pictures I take on this phone have great quality but I am not a big picture person. I have used the pixel fold and it's not bad but I prefer the fold 5 for its better features.
I agree 100%. My biggest gripe is the front display is way too narrow and pretty much unless. I rarely use my Fold 3. I use my S22 daily. My fold 3 is left in my car.
Hope Samsung watch this video and make the much needed adjustment. Love the foldable technology, Samsung has all the technology to make the best foldable phone. It's going on Fold 5. I don't know why it is still the same. Its waste of money until they make the changes.
Flossy! Love you but I must say that the 5 is sooo much better than the 4, even if only for the flat folding hinge. But the other tweaks help too. I use my phone constantly and the upgrades are worth the additional cost. Come gimme a slap for that, I'm in the West Village...
I think magsafe should be coming to all phones soon bc its part of the univeral Qi 2 standard that's coming. Hoping the S24 series and all other android phones bring it next year
I hope so. I just got the Cadaube Sheathe for my S23 Ultra. It’s my favorite case for it, but damn it would have been better if MagSafe was added to it. I have the Uag monarch with Magsafe, but it doesn’t nearly feel as good in the hand as the Cadaube.

Traded mine...the 5 is seriously thinner... like way thinner! Also hinge is smoother and feels better. Saw a camera comparison video, looks better too... I'm happy🤷

I've been using a Fold as my daily since the 3 came out. The 3 was nice, but the hinge messed up a few months outside warranty of course. Claimed it on insurance, received a new Fold4 as replacement. The 4 is much improved, wider cover screen, better camera, better battery, and so far better hinge. I love the fold series. Butnit really hasnt changed much from the 2/3. Im waiting to see what the 6 brings to the table. IF they add an internal SPen that can laso write on the cover screen? And that screen is even wider? Now thatll be the one. And with SD gen3 battery life? Fingers crossed. If not im sure loving this OP12/Note9 combo lol.
Well for me I love my Z fold 5. I went from an old S10 to this phone. No doubt if if I had the earlier Z fold phones i would probably feel the same
I think Samsung will come hard next with the Fold 5, because since this year it was all about the Flip 5 they didn’t want to take anything away from that. So I’m predicting MAYBE next year they will do more with the Fold 5 and make it wider like the Pixel.

I owned a fold 3 previously. Wasn't impressed - replaced with s23 ultra. Was happy with that until I saw the Fold 5. I bought one. It's the most incredible device I've ever owned. The cameras are excellent. The battery life matches the s23 ultra for my usage. The step change from Fold 3 to 5 is huge. Perhaps not so 4 to 5. But DO buy this phone. It's unbelievable. Dont miss the s23 ultra slab one bit. Also love the outer display. Difficulty in typing? Nah - swipe works incredibly well. Just change the font size if you can't read the text! I like Floss's reviews normally. This one was not great - sorry dude. This phone is incredible and streets ahead of its rivals from a hardware and software combination perspective. Buy it if you can. You'll see.

Sorry Flossy but I need to trade in Fold 4. It already has a dent and it bothers me. On top of that the screen protector for the inner screens needed to come off it was stripping so bad and now the screens have scratches. So Fold 5 here I come. PS I already brought it but needed to see your review before I open it. Great review as usual!
Gotta agree to disagree on this one... MAJOR upgrade, feels great in the hands, feels premium, from each generation of the Fold, owned them all, and this is hands down the best...
Maybe it's that new car smell clouding my judgement, but the screens, the graphics, the clarity, the hardware, it is all an upgrade, and worth the $$$

Finally a real honest review. I’m a profoundly hearing impaired 69 year old white guy who loves music and relies heavily on streaming directly to my hearing aids. My OLD phone was a Galaxy S9 + and was not playing well with my new set of MFI hearing aids so I jumped ship and bought a IPhone 14 that worked a little better but I’m going nuts learning about Apple. Z Fold 5 sure looks tasty but I’m also tempted by Z Fold 6. Thanks for sharing.
