Thank you so much. I’ve just bought a industrial Zoje Coverstitch machine, I’ve assembled it with my husband help and now I’m all alone figuring it out to use it, This video, although it is not the same machine, it helped me a lot. Thank you very much for your time and wilful to spread knowledge. Greetings from a Portuguese living in France 😀

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I'm glad it helped - these machines are workhorses and the quality of your work will look so good. Luck you :) Best of luck with your sewing

Thank you for this video, especially for explaining the simple way to secure the seam. I always wondered how it is done using these industrial coverstitchers in contrast to the household models, where they always teach you to knot the threads in a somewhat cumbersome way.
Now maybe a bit of a specific question: you usually find these machines with needle gauges of 5.6 mm and 6.4 mm. Is this purely a matter of taste or are there "rules" which gauge to use on which type of garment? I intend to use it for the hems of men's T-shirts and for attaching the elastic band to men's underpants. Thanks in advance for your answer!

Great question - there are no set rules, even though I'm sure each production company would create their own to suit - the general rule of thumb is visual - I'd use narrower for mens underwear as its smaller, and I personally prefer wider on T shirt hems, I find visually it's no so much the width as the stitch length that seems to make a difference.

Great tutorial but I wonder how do you keep that bottom looper from unraveling at the hem since it’s only a chain stitch?...speaking specifically to high volume manufacturing situations.

I am happy to stand corrected on this answer but this is the way I have always seen it done in high volume production. This is not a chainstitch per se - such as to secure large flour bags - if you have ever tried to unpick a coverseam you would pretty quickly work out it takes quite a lot to unravel. You'd have to unpick the two lines of top cover to get the underside to come apart like a blind hemmer stitch would - a true chainstitch - which uses one thread

Hi! How to finish the seam on this machine so that it does not fly apart?

Generally you finish the seam with an overlocker - serger - then coverstitch the hem, although that could change depending on your style of garment
