Me too

I remember when that house was brick red with no fence, no iron gate before it was made a landmark to the Jacksons. My big brothers and many other youth use to play basketball on the courts at Roosevelt High School across the alley and behind Jackson street.
Do you know when the school closed? Last time I visited the neighborhood, the field and bleachers looked all rusty and abandoned.
@@georgethompson3763 No, I left Gary in 1992 and the last time I was there was 12 yrs go.
Im from gary i grew up passing his house almost every day
+Paul Edwards 😎

Lucky.
Paul Edwards I'm from Gary too. I never visited his house unfortunately. I'm from Memphis,TN also and used to stay around the corner from Graceland. We would pass it at least two times a week.
Paul Edwards Thats so awesome!!!
Paul Edwards did you know Michael Jackson in person back then?
Thank you for this tour. Michael Jackson is always in our heart
Beautiful house, I'm getting emotional while looking at it though :(
Missing Michael

+onourshelf Your Not Going Inside For Just A Visit
You can watch it on type in life with la tony thats mj sis she went inside the house with her mom
Cidade abandonada
Riley freeman Katharine still owns it
I was born and raised on Chicago’s southside, and we’ve always considered Gary to be a Chicago suburb(It’s only 15 minutes away from my house)… And for those who don’t know, a lot of talent has came out of Gary, not just the Jackson’s!
True that. (Gary born n raised and EC Harbor).
I wish you could go inside the house
That would be nice.
Theres a video of the inside of the house on youtube.
where? post the link please

rhonda turner thank you
Michael invited me to come join him during his last visit in 2003 to 2300 Jackson Street, but I didn't have a great car to drive 3 hours there and back to Toledo Ohio. I wish I had now. But hopefully one day I will be able to see where he began his life and career at.
it's a cute little house, unforgettable memories for the Jackson family,
+Valerja Mici 👍🏽
Yes
I’m so glad I had the chance to go there. A cherished piece of American history. Michael is always missed. 💜🙏🏻

Michael was born as the population was booming in Gary, the city that had the highest percentage of african-americans, he was the embodiment and epitome of black culture and music
interesting
HE WASN'T THE ONLY ONE STUPID IDIOT THE JACKSONS HOME WAS THE HOME OF NINE CHILDREN THEY ALL WERE CONCEIVED,RAISED AND BECAME A MUSICAL FAMILY.SO IT WASN'T JUST MIKES HOME
Micheal Use to hang out with the ghetto kids When he lived in Gary He use to have a girlfriend but he dumped her in Gary after he became famous He came from a very dangerous Place gary
His dad had rifles and AK 47s to protect them from the gary Gangster
A lot of people in that small house !! it looks nice and neat !!!
inside is cute we got a glimse on Latoya's life aww MJ said they all shared 1 bathroom and had to line up to use it lol in his 2003 homecoming video on youtube.
maurice CARTER And they made it work because they really loved each other
Lisa Jackson yep
No it's not nice and neat. It's a very poor city. Broken Abandoned buildings
Gary was booming in the 50s and 60s and early 70s. I grew up there.
Dude that part with MJ dancing scared the shit out of me! Almost gave me a heart attack! Lol
+ShockMe1994 😂

What blows my mind with these many videos I've watched of the decay of cities how freaking huge the lots were that had to be a blessing
How nice that it was enshrined by the Jackson family. It's a wonderful tribute.
I miss him so much. I'm speechless.love u MJ 💟 pray for us.
Its funny I have lived in Michigan City (around 30 miles from gary) my whole life and today (5/29/18) was the first time I went and saw MJ's old house.
Reminds me of the 2 bdrm. home we bought when my 1at husband & I were married. I loved that house. Thank you for sharing & thank you to The Jackson's for sharing their music with the world.
Always appreciate humble beginnings 💗🙏🏾
Great video I miss Michael
Loved the insert of Michael Moon walking❤
This is the best video I've seen on UA-cam of fans visiting the home.. I felt like I was there with you.. I plan on visiting soon. Thanks for posting!!

i knew a family had 12 children lived in a 2 bedroom house a good family love was more then anything during my youth
I live in Gary and his Uncle still lives in the house.....💜🇮🇹
Do they actually live in the house? I heard one cousin lives nearby and comes to the house from time to time, to take care of it.
I was wondering who was taking care of it.
@@TheSharbin The uncle moving and They are talking about trying it into a museum....💜
Italian Queen- Don't they own the little house next door as well?
i only live 3 hours away from gary, and i hope this summer i can go visit the home and go to the jackson's concert! Ive been such a big fan of Michael and his brothers since 2nd grade, and i look up to Michael a ton. I'm so blessed to be this closeee!
I've been to Gary twice now. Was there yesterday and the previous Friday as well. Had no problems. Interesting town with plenty of history.
Growing up as a kid in the 80s and 90s I admit I was never crazy about MJ. Always remember seeing him on commercials , movies and concerts on PBS. It's amazing after he passed and Whitney Houston and even Prince. I know listen to all of their music now being in my late thirties I have such an appreciation for all of the 80s and 90s icons that I grew up around that are no longer with us like Luther Vandross and many other. I am truly proud of growing up with so many great entertainers
I have not lived till I go there, R.I.P Michael Jackson
Michael come back to the world please, and make the world a better place😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
This is so sad watching this. :'( It's a home now with just a "stillness" there. :( Missing him so much. :(
Michael was such a legend!! THE legend!!!..
I visited that little house on September 28, 2012 after touring the Motown Museum in Detroit from my home in Snellville GA.. Along with an older brother, I only saw two ladies and a little girl during my approximately 30 minutes visit.
It was a Michael Jackson blast in the past it was amazing to see their childhood home. It was really great to see the before and after pictures of it
I went to go see it today
😎

aww I loved it!! I teared up I wanna visit I am so sad they didn't fix it up while he was alive and turned it into a historic site
Actually both are fix up
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.... I almost cried watching your video. God bless you and your beautiful gf/wife
I think the Jackson's should buy up those abandoned buildings and rebuild Gary that would be wonderful to see with a mentoring program at Roosevelt to give other kids hope
Getting emotional at this video thank you for uploaded
If that house could talk.........
oh my what tales it would tell us!
U can see the older videos from The kids life in the house as kids
I am a huge fan of the Jackson Family especially my main man Michael (MJ) Jackson and let’s not forget Janet Jackson I truly love them so on this day 10/07/2020 I traveled from Illinois where I’m from doing a little Uber pickups so to make the long story short I decided that I wasn’t leaving Gary Indiana without dropping by 2300 hundred Jackson to see where they’ve gotten their start in life at I just want to say job well done to my favorite family with much love from Pamela J Brials and to Michael Jackson continue to Rest In Peace😘🥰😍🥰😍😘
I'm so depressed over Michael... what a hold his spirit has on me! If I had lot's of money, I would buy the one house here in Vegas, my husband will be getting a law suit but not nearly enough for that house. Maybe a few million but that house, wow, in the Millions ! Love you always Michael RIP sweet one ~ X
+angelfirelite 😔
I relate his spirit does have such a strong hold doesn't it?
20189
Went in 2010, the back yard looked nothing like this. The most surprising part for me was, there a few cinder blocks stacked along the back. I remembered the scene in the movie. That made me laugh and cry. There was a light post were the Tombstone looking thing is of Michael, that had been signed by fans too. The house next door was not fixed up that I recall, at least not like this. There was not gate in the back for both properties to have adjourning driveways. A neighbor told us the shutters had bn added in recent yrs and that the gate was not always there. Ppl sat on their porch and watched the handful of ppl that were there besides us. They've done alot w the landscape since my visit. I will always regret not taking pictures but then again I think it would have lessened the experience. We live life now thru the cameras of our phones instead of in the moment. Glad I saw a little more true to it's original state.
Jermaine's book brought me here. We love you Michael💗
I went there back in 1998 and his cousin was outside and we talked for a hour. Wasn't no fence at that time. I still have the pictures. Also the school they went to is right around the corner. Roosevelt.
Thank you Sir for posting this wonderful video. It made me emotional and I felt a sense of nostalgia. Hope to visit it someday
My sons AAU basketball team was there 2 weeks after MJ died we were able to walk and touch the house, went back the very next day and the front yard was full of teddy bears. And there was already bootleg tee shirts being sold. One thing I noticed is the garage was tore down. The good thing is we have pictures!
I live in Gary and last year while I took a year off of my regular job I worked part time delivering meals for Meals on Wheels. 1 of the routes i covered was on the block of this house. I have had a connection with Gary my whole life and never got to see the house. Well while i had this opportunity I jumped on it and since then i have gone by there at least once a month. I wasnt a big Michael fan as I was Janet, and she and i about the same age. So thats why i enjoy going there, and yes the people in the neighborhood are very nice.
Nice lil town. Plenty of trees and a lake for recreational activities.
I can't stop thinking that this was the house that he was abused in all the pain suffering where his father wouldn't let him call him daddy or always abusing him in the outdoors he was like a happy little child but when it came to being an indoors it was so bad he probably had multiple bruises and scars. Long live the king of Pop love you man.
So sad... Feel want hug you. Miss you MJ❤️
Very nice video and photos! Thank You for sharing 😃👍🏽
Gorgeous... Id love a little house like this!!!! 😊
My family & I are heading that way tomorrow morning!
I wish i could go visit...what a beautiful historical place
They use the second house and it has big photo under those shades of Michael and mother together and one of him. Then U see like memabila inside the windows. I had tourist from Norway and places like that ask me which house was the original home. I think Michael like Joseph wanted it to stay Original because they would remember where they came from.
I was born and raised in Gary. I do not live in Gary anymore but I always wanted to stop by Michael Jackson's house. I will do this next time I am in Gary now that I know the address. Thanks for the video.
I’ve been there twice when I lived in Indianapolis. Crime there is horrible. There’s also nothing there. So the city can’t thrive. The high school the older siblings went too is behind them. Amazing how they raised all those children in a one bedroom home.
I also got to sign my name and my mom signed her name on something there lol
I live about twenty minutes outside of Gary and as a Northwest Indiana resident I can say that Gary is a place of no return. My parents would kill me if I went due to the extreme number of shootings that have occurred as of late.
However, when the Jackson's grew up here the town was beautiful. The Steel Mills were up and running and it was the town in Indiana closest to Chicago but was a beautiful city. I have not gone to this location as I'm afraid of Gary, but I just might take a chance on it.
Hannah Williams i wanna visit the place one day. Do you think it's dangerous??
mari karas3 same, wanna visit other states including Indiana which is right next to me
"Hannah Williams" I heard that when Michael Jackson was growing up there ( and his siblings) the place was crime ridden and though there were steel mills where men could find work to support their families, it was still a "poverty stricken" area where people struggled to make ends meet. It must be one of those ironies. It was worse in a way back when Michael Jackson was a 10 year old boy there, and in a way, it is worse now.
Yes THE city can be dangerous but 2300 Jaskson st. Is a good spot for some tourism in GARY if your interested in the Jackson LEGACY everyone livin on that block instantly knows what your lookin for a will be happy to giv you at least a point towards the house which really can't be missed
@@marikaras3729it's just like any other place people from all parts of the states come here and nothing never happens to them
I enjoyed the video and your positive energy very much😊💛
Thanks for sharing!!
thanx for sharing i wanna go there
Love home Jackson live in home god bless you keep you
Nice and lovely childhood home. It is better than mansion without peace.
Love you
MJ
Good u showed that, bring back memorys when I was working in Hammond indiana at the steel mill in the late 90s some lady invited me to come to her wedding reception in Gary Indiana, so me and some of the co workers went anyway we were coming down 5th avenue took a left on the street were she was holding the reception some how we got lost with another wrong turn came up on jackson avenue so as were driving up we come up on a house on 23rd and jackson that same stop sign u just showed in the video, I look to my left and it done on me 2300 jackson Street just my thought process kick in immediately that's mike home what I said to earl and Dre we were all in a daze as we were driving around it, wasnt even looking for it just happen that night of Nov 14 of 99" didn't have a gate around it at the time just teddy bears" so that is great u showed that.
Don't know why but made me emotional 😭I miss you Michael ♥️
RIP Michael Jackson King OF POP We Miss You And Love You
Me and MJ have the same bday which will be August 29th
😍 Lovely video, thank you!
Very good work on your video footage, very well done.
Thank you.
A little house however with much love.home sweet home.
5hank so very much for going all the way to the back of the house, thank u.
+Cynthia Brown You’re welcome.
The King of Pop and Roll Michael Jackson.
Mike was so young when he left Gary does he and Marlon really bond to this home. They actually grew up in California. Gary birth place home California.
They use both houses. Things about Michael is in the second house. In fact when I was there, somebody from the Netherlands asked me which house was which. I was there for all the changes of those houses. The second house had two beautiful large photos of him and his mother together. I was sitting on the porch before the remodel when people could freely visit. looks like now they took some things down especially after Janet Joseph and Randy visited it. I think while that lovely town is empty the Jacksons should take the whole thing back even down to the steel mill. I appreciate the share. 2300 and Gary Indiana it self is always historical home. Yes the people there are gorgeous. I told them they all are stars now. including that famous spot.
I miss you MJ 💕
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT". If i had not seen it on this film, I would not had believed it. Michael is still there, in Gary Indiana hanging around his childhood house. Atleast he was then, and not moping around either. Walking like a natural man. Then he turned to the left; toward. I think the back of the house..🥰😇💝
I literally Just left from there while in town for the first time
"Hence the word "Jackson", ironically they became famous so its like "their street" literally...
The house next door that you mentioned, is a store. You can buy Jackson items inside.
Nice little house. You can see the potential of this area.
I agree with the guy that made this video. At no point did I feel uncomfortable or threatened being here. Was a nice piece of history to see
I was born in Gary
Cool.

MY FAMILY LIVED NEXT DOOR TO THE JACKSONS I WAS MJ BABYSITTER'WE KNEW THEN THAT MICHAEL &HIS SUBLINGS WERE VERY TALENTED!!ONE OF MY BROTHERS LIVES IN CALIFORNIA NOW WE MISS YOU MJ!!!
Thanks for posting man. I wish I could go there too but I'm in the west coast. Btw, your lady is lovely. :)
My Great Grandma Used to Live Right across the street from Them back in 1968. So she'd basically see them come and go all the time.
I’m a truck driver & stopped for the wknd @ the nearby truck stop & remembered that there was someone famous that grew up nearby! 😂 I googled the address & I found out that I was about 5 miles away! 😂 I dropped my trailer & rolled by in my semi that morning! I knew better next time & went by during the day the next time so that I could get better pics
Well done video. The neighborhood looks like a 1940's "War Box" development. Basic houses built very quickly for the workers flooding into town for defense jobs. I live in one like that in Seattle.
The Jackson's own both those homes. The original and the one next door.
