I think the Steel mills and Oil Refineries are still the top employers. Not sure if the two Mills in East Chicago are still open, but the Mills in Gary and Burns Harbor are still open. As a former truck driver, I use to haul building Materials, like Roofing Shingles and steel wall stud out of Gary and Hammond.

I didnt know about the Mills. Thanks for sharing that. The city is really not well kept by the city officials. And there isnt much open as far as having places to shop. But there,, at least when I was there, were not alot of people just hanging out or anything
