I love to see our guards on duty knowing how disciplined they are and the amount of training they have done makes me feel safe. As for comments saying they look funny they look wonderful in the traditional uniforms but when they are deployed and take these off their uniforms are fit for fighting our enemies on the front line like any army.

What a misleading title. The guards were there as part of the ceremonial welcome for the President of S. Korea. They weren't there for the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The fixed bayonets are a nice touch. For “maximum” “security” they should remove the weapon covers and all have loaded magazines. An issue of civil authority arises for the ceremonial guards of the military so it’s the police that carry loaded firearms. The armed police are the “real” guards while the military add a magnificent splash to the ceremonial.

I’m certain any of the ceremonial guards will do whatever is required should a need arise.
Those guards would be ready to go in seconds😂..

Having a World Leader her in London on a State Visit means extra security will always be required. The police and soldiers are used to these events and handle them very efficiently. In the mid 19century ,when Queen Victoria was out for a carriage drive in London ,there were three assassination attempts, on the same day. Then there was the attempted kidnapping of Princess Anne in the 1970’s.
The Working Royals and politicians are always at risk. Ia am so amazed at the relaxed way they do events and greet the public despite the risk.

There was a time when the minimum height was 6'2".
The Guardsman uniform is impressive on a tall person, but gives rather the opposite impression when worn by a person of small stature. It is what it is.
The way the armed police gangs hold their weapons is frightening. Suggest they exchange them for Side arms. It makes no sense to fire an automatic weapon in crowded places. Have any of them ever been fired on?
Most unlikely they would fire on automatic willy-nilly. Auto fire is overrated in most situations. Those MP-5s are actually quite controllable on auto by a well trained shooter. I'm a retired US police officer (including SWAT) and a police firearms instructor. I also spent 21-years in the US military between active and reserve.
Since most police in the UK are unarmed and very approachable, I am very happy to see armed police where needed. Even the armed police are relaxed at these events and I feel they add to the safety of the general public as well as the Working Royals.

You mean they waste their time helping thousands of young people heading in the wrong direction to get their lives back on track, retain contact for years enabling them to get jobs and stay out of trouble with the King’s Trust (formerly the Prince’s Trust), provide Riding For The Disabled for enjoyment and confidence building, help for women and children suffering from domestic abuse, Early Learning for young children to ensure they acquire literacy skills to enable them to gain an education to go further in their lives - if you come from a family who don’t have the literacy skills needed just to produce a CV or fill out forms you are doomed to a life on a low salary with little hope of progressing in the future. The royals cover literally hundreds of areas that politicians can’t because they generally have short term employment and no real stability.
