A genius in the making. Little did she, or her band know at the time that she and her band would change and set the standard for what music would become in the late 70's and 80's and beyond. Deborah and her band Blondie were such an icon.
Not sure when my first time at CBGB's was. Later than 1975 tho....between 77 and 79. Crazy days. I remember one night being woken up by the bar workers as they were cleaning up after closing. They found me asleep behind the jukebox. (wasted) 😆 Would have loved to have seen Blondie. Great video... Thanks! 👍
I used to drive up from Philadelphia and hope that someone would let me stay over with them. I also drove to Trenton city gardens and the person who ran the place would let anyone stay over at his house. That normally included the band. So it was like a party after the show. My last show was nirvana at the Trenton city gardens . Locally we had the east side club, the kennel club, the first place was " the hot club" I didn't like that place too many fights. In the very beginning we were all nurds and rejects . Then it was taken over. Skinheads , razor edge all that crazy violent shit.
I love Blondie so much ever since I was 12 years old or maybe earlier. This old stuff is so special and magical to me. My little doggy is called Blondie ❤
This is not the earliest footage I have ever seen. Back in the 80's there was a late night show called night flight that discussed a lot about rock bands from members to venues played and inspirations for songs and mostly classic footage of early performances of many different bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath (even some Rare Earth footage). They showed a clip of Debbie Harry from the early/mid 60's of a performance she did in Europe. In that footage she was wearing a black beret, a black mini skirt and black boots and looked incredible. I cannot remember the song but, needless to say, her singing as always was excellent.
All of new York was a true shit hole. In times Square for 5 bucks you could watch any combination of people have sex at a strip bar. Men would stand and watch with their hand tugging away in open. Today Disney and all of the area is totally different. I parked within a few blocks of CBGB'S & rats were all over the place. I remember a garbage strike and bags were everywhere. It stunk like pee & crap back then too. The bathroom at CBGB'S was full of both sexes. I remember girls Standing and talking to me as I would pee. I was drunk & didn't care.. The Ramones were the worst band I have ever watched. They couldn't even play instruments until years later. Too me they were from 1960's & offered nothing. Patty Smith was only real deal from there . So many bands were extremely limited in ability. Remember we went from Led Zeppelin to Ramones within a few years. UK punk had much better music & lyrics. Within a few years bands like the talking heads crossed over. They were at the Philadelphia Zoo playing same years as Thompson Twins & other " punk / new wave bands. I still laugh when they critics give the Ramones credit for starting punk rock. They were the worst band on earth and had no chance of bringing anything better forward.
She had much bigger boobs though. In the beginning of their band all of us would stand and watch with erectile mass throbbing. We were all nurds and she was a 10 . Only show better was the plasmatics with Wendy O. In small clubs guys would stand around and beat off & she would help .
I played there one time for cmj. We parked right in front and quest love walked by with his friends. Good times. I think the AC was broken and it was hot as balls so no one was drinking only drinking water and not tipping the bartender girls lol 😆 so they made an announcement and the girls were pointing people out for not tipping. This was 2005 I wanna say

The rest is history! Excellent 🎉
Thank You!!
She's such a good singer! I can't Imagine how crappy that sound system must have been, still she gives an almost flawless performance.

Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
She very uniquely defined an era (❤️) Blondie.
I didn't know this film footage of Blondie existed. Thank you for posting it. 👍👍👍

Is it film?
I didn't make it to CBGB's until 1979 - thanks - as a 14 year old

I never made it to CBGB's. The Ramones said "It was pretty scuzzy in there".

Yep. Brittany Spears didn't wear the tied blouse first.
