It's really cool to see this; I feel there are these positions which certain people like yourself have worked on / studied / applied for a while, but for some reason others were just ignoring it or couldn't visualize that it was right there. Lachlan Giles had so much success from this position at this past ADCC too, like it was a secret gem of control and finishing.
Studying this for scrambling ideas as applied to collegiate wrestling. Lots of applications in ankle scramble situations. Thank you for the new perspective. My wrestling paradigm gets in the way of new discovery.
Everyone was on the imanari roll, but when i saw this pulled off against BJ back when... i was like damn... ryan's 5050 is a badddass position. and he covered most of these concepts as a brown belt in probably the first comprehensive 5050 instructional at the time.
Yes, especially if you're in a street fight and have a collar to grab. Nogi it all depends on the rules, but there's a calf crush/slicer here as well as a transition to a body twister. Of course like Ryan said it depends on what your opponent does once in this.
You can grab the foot with your hand and push it away a little from the armpit to make a toe hold, like in game over position but have nosense, maybe in no-heelhook match, however in no-heelhook matches you can't cross your legs so you won't be able to keep these positions.
Wtf is up with recommended that Ryan Hall instructionals only showed up now when he's one of my viewed fighters/grapplers, while flooding me with animal kingdom videos?
Oh yeah Mr. Hall? If I’m not on the front side I must be on the back side? What if I’m on the right side? Or the side side? Ha! Got you. Hahahahaha. Stupid joke. You’re a genius. Please don’t kill me.
Ryan hall should beat up everyone in the universe and then like make world peace happen in a night. Like. This was Goldie but oldie. The aliens need this!!!
I've said it for two minutes, Ryan is a great instructor for BJJ
@@marky1846 Insane man right
For the last 7 years I've been consistently impressed by Ryan's teaching skills. Top notch despite being Sephless.

#Lachlan Giles
#John Danaher
Are there other submissions from this position other than the heel hook? Great video.
You probably can transition to a calf slicer from there, IBJJF legal. IBJJF rules sucks btw

Toe Hold
If you doubt this go watch ryan use it against bj penn
Man these are good, and I don’t even fight.
Holy guacamole!!!!!!!!! All of the yes.
Lachland Giles vs Ryan Hall.. make it happen!
Are heel hooks the only submission from backside 50/50? Any ankle locks or toe holds?

Are you going to do more content or is the content set?

Wait...This isn't skateboarding...
Both are just as bad for your knees

lol - he doesn't demonstrate how to actually finish the heel hook itself.
What was the point of this video again....?
The backside 50/50 position, it's in the title? Plenty other videos on heel hook finishing out there.
boa
These guys have really nice feet
この人は大好きだが軟体ぶりは真似出来ない。
Lachlan giles create this
and then ryan hall" you know I have this good position .."
In Lachlan Giles’ instructional, he credits Ryan Hall for a lot of what he learned about the 50/50 position.
