I'm a 1 strip blue belt who has always struggled to understand deep half and the waiter sweep, this video has really helped demystify things for me, thank you!
I literally just got my white and I’m going for a stripe soon and I’ve been bingeing your videos trying to soak up as much as possible without getting ahead of myself. The guard passes and sweeps have been especially helpful. Thanks for the vid bro
I notice that there are slight deviations between the way you do it, the way Jake McKenzie does it, and the way Lachlan does it with respect to your right knee / leg. I think you’re more similar to Ryan Hall in this? Lachlan brings the right knee in a little. Jake crosses almost like a closed guard. Any benefits disadvantages of each?
Crazy, Dom just showed us this in class today and I come home and this is at the top of my feed. I'm keeping this one to remind me of the details. Thanks Dom!! Oss
Thank you, coach. Your teaching method is really great. The moment the video started and you shot the technique from all those angles first automatically told me that this would be a great instructional. Thanks so much!
I started playing deep half and transitioning to the waiter postion and sweeping to an over under pass for a about a year now. Never occured to me to try take the back. Thanks looking forward to adding this my game.
I think its a great sweep! What you'll find after a certain point, more advanced practitioners lean their body in a way that rarely leaves this sweep available, and you'll want to have back attacks ready for that.

Thank you!! What are your thoughts on the basic sweep from the waiter guard, when you just push them back? Is it lower risk for lower reward?
