Thank you, Scott! I'm 16 and just started my own detailing business and I've watched all of your videos. All of the other channels just want to sell their products but you, on the other hand, are giving us some good old-fashioned tricks of the trade. thank you so much
Adam Spitzer I agree with you Adam, I just started mine too..
your welcome Adam and I'm always here if you need help:)...you will do great my friend..remember to love your customers and work hard...i remember being 16, you lucky dog:)...lol
much love KC:)
Forensic detailing channel is another good one not filled with crap
Fantastic to see you responding Adam! You seem VERY intelligent, and if you're here soaking up the information, my point has been made. Love your passion buddy. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this recomendation! I also have used diesel and works amazing without damaging the paint! You have to work fast, use a microfiber towel, and once you are done, wash the car with wax soap and the car will look like new!!! 🙌

Super stuff.Used this stuff on school buses, expensive but works great.Schaefers also makes the best grease I have ever seen.
Awesome and great video as usual! 👍🏽
Thanks Scott. I bought the Citrol and tried it on my tarred 2016 white pickup. It worked great.
Hello i saw your video on how to remove tar just like to thank you for the information i just ordered one from Amazon.
Wow, that stuff looks incredible.
This product is outstanding. Thank you
Best tar, and least expensive remover I’ve ever used, gasoline. Use in the shade and wash off immediately when done. I use it once every 3 years on the bottom panels only, unless there’s an unexpected road splatter. About 1/4 cup does the whole job.
Hello Scott thanks for all your knowledge. Have u tried Wd40? Also works to remove tar nicely
Hello Scott! Now that I watch this video Maybe you could make one of how to remove dried concrete, my mom's car got some on the side skirt and it's really stuck to the paint. Thank You & grat job .
Hey Scott, my GMC Terrain has those dark gray plastic side skirts below all the doors. I was wondering if you ever used this tar remover on any unpainted plastic around the doors or bumpers. Thanks
First! Another great video Scott!
Scott, I respect your knowledge, what bug and tar remover are you using on black cars that are ceramic coated?
Thanks
What a great person to share what he does for a living and to help other's out
Hi Scott wanted to know if it’s better to do this first or after I wash the car.
Thank you for your content.
I admire your genuine love and respect. Much love brother
Hey Scott What tar remover do you recommend to safely use on ppf?
If you like the Citrol on tar, I think you'll love the Stoner Tarminator even better. That stuff just annihilates tar on contact, its just not safe on exposed plastics, particularly clear plastic. Koch Chemie Eulex (Eu), is another great and cost effective tar buster, that's very fast - however it has the same issue as Tarminator, it will eat clear plastics.
A great safe tar remover I found has been the Gyeon Q2M TAR, that stuff will take tar off no problem, maybe slightly slower, but its safe for all surfaces, so you don't have to worry about damaging customers cars.
Question: some nimrods were sealing the asphalt parking lot at work. It was a windy day. The overspray reached every employee car on the other side of the lot.
Whats the best way to clean asphalt sealant from car paint?
Hello Scott, will C-266 work as a traffic film remover? Take care, great channel!
Great product! What do you think about the Koch Chemie Fw for this application? In case you ever had the chance to try it. Since I don't think I can get this Citrol in my country but I've seen that other product available. Thanks in advance.
Will it damage the clear coat or harm the paint?
Did anybody experience clearcoat damage or Paint damage while they’re trying to remove tar after using this product? And if they did what did you guys do to repair it simply paint correction?
Scott, if we are trying to keep our "arsenal" small will the Rustoleum wax and tar remover do the job here ?
no one :
You: lightly spray
*Sprays half the can
that stuff is almost 20 a can also, not very cost effective for detailing
@@coolguy8955 buy the gallon
Thanks Scott going to have to pick this up.
Can this stuff be used to prep the entire vehicle for a ceramic coating?
Citrol 266 and a Magic Eraser with light pressure. I only use it when I'm about to do correction, and when you use it without correction you will have to apply/ reapply protection i.e. wax, sealant, etc.
Need to pick this up for my detailing business..I think it would be better after u use it on the spot and get most of it off take a clay bar then after follow up with some compound or polish..Great gideo
I used to detail cars, and did for years. Ive tried many tar removers. The best thing I can say to use is diesel fuel. I just put rubber gloves on and took a cheap sponge and put a layer of diesel fuel on the tar. It softens up fast, even the dried on tar like in this video. Then take the blue thick shop towels, I used about 3 or 4 at a time, dip it in the diesel fuel and it wipes right off. Then I washed the car with blue DAWN dish liquid and hot water. Tar and film will be all gone. Then I waxed or polished the car well. Paint looked amazing, and I never had a customer complaint. And the diesel will not damage paint or clear coat. And way cheaper than this stuff ^^^^^^^^^^
Shane Joyce thanks Shane- it makes sense that diesel would work, as tar is a heavy product of crude oil. And diesel is a lighter product of crude oil. I will try it, and get back to you. As I have tar spots that look to have been on the car for years.
That's what I was thinking leading into this video, was about to purchase Autoglym Tar remover, seen that petrol worked better, you've confirmed it for me, thanks.
They've proven, time & time again, that Dawn dish liquid is for DISHES, not cars. Just because you did it, doesn't make it right!
@@jalderink I only use it after tar removal. Because you have to wax the car afterward. I never use it for regular washing. I only use car was soap for that. And the dawn does not hurt the paint on the car.
@@shanejoyce1666 Ok, you cleared that up. I gotcha.
When do you put on primer sealer after applying regular primer or before regular primer. I never used primer sealer and every time I have tried to paint my truck it just doesn't come out right.
I got some white house paint splatter on my car. Would you recommend this?
My car looks just like that. The rocker panel and the lower part of my front door are covered in tar.I noticed it a week after driving through a newly paved pothole.
Good to know Citrol 266 is safe to use.Bug & tar removers don't do anything.Other channels use the strongest chemicals that i am uncomfortable withThank you for the tip.
“Hey we’re here in Dallas Texas “
*has a heavy Long Island accent *
😂😂
hello
is it safe to apply it with plastic tires and lighting covers
thank you
can i use this for motorcycle plastic fairings for tar removal...?? is it safe not to fade the glossy paint?
Will it work if the tar have already stick on the paint for a year ?
i have the same issues and i just don’t know where to look or to find this remover. Where do you purchase the citrol from? TIA
Would normally use turps or white spirit but they're oil based so will give the citrus based products a try being more water soluble
Hey guys, my car was covered in berries from a tree I was parked under (arrgh!). Have tried everything to remove the berry splashes that were left - seems like they have really eaten into the paint. You reckon something like Citrol might be worth a try?
Got black tar circles in my hood that look like they got baked into paint. Will this work??
Scott ur awesome
Where can you buy this locally? Napa hasn't heard of this when I went in to check.
I just used Awesome Orange from the Dollar Store on tar that I haven’t been able to get off for 8 months. It worked like magic with an easy damp sponge wipe. I did all 4 panels in about 5 min.
What about bugs Scott. Will it work for that as well.
Hey Scott! Thanks for the info!
2 WORDS...
Goo Gone. Works like charm!
You are so spot on with that. Just went thru the entire car last week with Goo Gone! Right on!
That gonna hurt the clearcoat.
Does anyone know how Citrol compares with ZEP Citrus degreaser. You can get a gallon on the ZEP concentrate for under $10
Good job.
is this safe on vinyl wraps?
Awesome Orange at the dollar store works great and it's $1
Does it work for bug removal tho?
Hey Scott got a question for ya....Would I need to wax again after using citrol 266?
trclme sow yes it will strip any protection that may be on the car
Citrol no doubt is the best, but not necessarily the most cost effective. Any alternatives for Australia mobile detailer?
ThaAaaaaaNK YOU🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
What about for trying to get it out of the carpet on the floor inside the car
How long can I leave it on?
White lithium grease can get rid of tar??
Is this safe on a drier
I put dryer sheets in a spray bottle with hot water shake and spray.let sit for at least 5 minutes and come back with a plain dryer sheet to scrub off.then rinse works very well even on the road tar and bugs
Hey Scott ... does this also work on tree dried tree sap?? If not what do u suggest??
I use hand sanitizer works good on tree sap
That is impressive
Does it work for black magic wen it gets in your car
does it remove carplan Super gloss?
I'm sold.. Scott, do you think it would work on 'spray paint' overspray?
yes citrol 266 will help with many forms of overspray..i typically like using the full concentrate in the gallon jug and place some on a microfiber towel first than work gently over overspray...if you use the aerosol version, try spraying it into the microfiber towel first and work it over your overspray area..its good practice as well to make sure and rinse the product with water after using if you have large amounts of overspray on the car...hope that helps my friend:)
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing awesome. My Sierra got hit with industrial overspray from a tower painting operation. Claying has worked ok but perfectly. I can't wait to try this. Thank you again
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing w
Amazon won’t ship this to PA but they will ship the low vc type. Hope it works the same
Heating the tar with a hot gun will work too. Might be less aggressive on the paint/finish.
Hi Scott, would this product work for 'paint splatter' as well?
Is it ok to use a gas pressure washer with a high psi of like 3200 or will it damage the paint? Or just go with a lower psi electric one? Thank you for any info
They say use as much pressure as you’d spray on your hand. If it hurts your hand it can hurt the paint. It’s unnecessary too
Hey Scott I know it's been almost a year since you posted this but I have a question for ya. I drive a semi dump hauling asphalt all summer long and that crap gets everywhere! How well does this product work on druabrite aluminum rims, aluminum fuel tank and on chrome?
Use diesel, I've been using it for 28 years on my dump trucks.
@@walla2k594 ya figured that out now too long after posting this. Thanks tho
@@grtech2011 Saw the date after I posted, lol. Maybe it'll help someone in the future, cheers.
FASTORANGE hand cleaner. Soak tarred area with it for a couple of minutes and rub lightly, it will just crumble away. Keep wet. Don't scrub since it contains abrasives unless you want to wax after. Drove through a construction area and some of the tar was more than a 1/4 in thick. Took just over 20 minutes to clean up all 4 wheel areas an only cost $3.49......
Thanks! I can't find citrol in canada but I sure have some of that hand cleaner!
What are the ingredients of this product ?
Maybe buy individual chemicals and make own ?
Laquir thinner ?
“Holy crap Scott stop talking” 😂
Listen Dallas penitentiary corrector you must tell us what is this (chemical) not just a trade name
Citrol? Or diesel fuel?
Very good!! I’m in Los Angeles. Where do you get Citral???
try looking online on amazon...you should be able to get the aerosol version in California...i think they make a version just for people in California called Citrol 266 VOC...im not sure if its as good as the original version...you guys have some hard laws which make it difficult to get certain products...much love my brother:)
Where can I buy this
Can I get it in California?
Have to pick this up, thanks Scott!
Scott, how about my t-shirt idea for the channel?
yes we need to make some shirts up soon:)...love the idea
The best way to avoid getting tar on your car is to move to Scotland, it never gets warm enough for the tar to melt on the roads, and even if by chance you did get any marks on your car it’s always dark here so you would never notice them 🤣😂
Are there black people are gays there?
That's a great reply : )
Dude I’m in Glasgow and I’ve got tar on my car. Worst thing is shitty roads
Asphalt has tar it it and they spray tar before laying down asphalt. If drive around it whole spraying that tar crap down it will get on car , it doesn't need to be hot outside!
Love from india❤
Nice 👍🏾
What’s your magic product to remove white roadway paint that been on for ever?
Give it a try first with a carnuba wax and agitate it on the paint if not then you can try using wd40 or goo off, if nothing works polishing is the solution.
Would this stuff work to remove some yellow road paint? Thanks Scott!
Hayden Mcfarland you’d want white spirit dabbed on a cloth this is a tar remover
What kind of hose do you use for you're sun joe scott?
sun joe has its own tank for water so i don't use a hose
Scott why did you not try your steam cleaner with the tip on this road tar?
it takes to long with setup time and waiting for the steam to reach full power, by the time im waiting for the steamer I can have all the tar off
Will it remove polish residue too,...the white stuff?
J A Z Z P E R Autoglym Fast Glass takes polish residue off very well
No where in my town does anyone sell this stuff. I was in a pawn shop 2 towns over from me and there it was on a shelf for 9.95 a can, what a deal. My wife had traveled heavily for her job and her car was caked with bugs and road grime. I used this stuff and I kid you not I washed all the bugs off without scrubbing with a 2800psi pressure washer. I am sold on this stuff. I'm now 3 cans later. I used it for everything.
JH Toolman where do they sell this? Is it illegal for them to sell this to the general public?
Citrus 266 and a steam cleaner would work great together
The back label on Citrol reads like that disclaimer on Happy Fun Ball from that SNL skit. Cancer, genetic defects, organ toxicity, serious eye damage. I just read the material data safety sheet. I'm not using this stuff despite having two cans of it. I don't care how good it might work given the risks. I had so little tar on my car that I just ended up Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Detailing Clay Mild. But I did try Citrol on tree sap, and it did nothing. The tree sap was there too long and it's already ruined my paint. That's my fault.
Are all citrus and tar remover unsafe for ceramic coatings? Anyone got advice for this issue?
CarPro Tar X
can't get it in the uk
Zep makes a great concentrated citrus productand you can get it at your local walmart! About 12 bucks for 1 gallon
Does it work similar to this?
Adrian 856. Better! Also you can dilute it. Comes in gallon jugs. Made by zep at walmart or can order online. I've also seen it in aerosol cans
I have use kerosene for years!
diesel fuel and dunk engine degreaser 50 50 works great the dunk allows the fuel to rinse off with little residue
Used to detail cars long ago. I used kerosene. Worked great.
3m general purpose adhesives remover 20 plus years detailing and painting
