My iPhone 6 which i bought used in 2017 it still works fine as my media consumption and backup for phonecall since it sounded crystal clear and after the battery swapped this got extra life out if it (guess what I’m typing this with now)
Happy owner of a Pro 3 AND a Pro 4........................and I'm one of the lucky owners that's never experienced Flickergate (keeping my fingers crossed but after 2 1/2 years not too worried about it). I got mine just before the Pro 5 was released, it's the i7/16g/256gb ssd version. Performance is still top notch, battery life has degraded about 25%, virtually trouble free (knock on wood). I use it for composing music and light gaming (I teach music at a arts university) and the superb pen/touch screen is fabulous for that. I realize that some owners aren't as fortunate as me, but just wanted to add a comment that it IS possible have a (virtually) trouble free experience with the Pro 4. I'll upgrade in 2 years or so, really like the new Pro X a lot, can't wait to see it in person up close. Until then though, I'll continue to enjoy my Pro 4!
Got mine December of 2016 as well. I was halfway through college and it really served me well. Plenty of long nights and it’s still running. I’ve run into a few issues with it, but it somehow always fixes itself. It’s been more reliable than the super expensive Thinkpad W540 I got at the beginning of college.
I'm watching this video from my refurbished Surface Pro 4 (Core m3-6Y30, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD), which I bought from eBay for less than $300. Fortunately, my Surface Pro 4 was unaffected by "Flickergate." Since I knew that the 128GB SSD wouldn't be enough for me, I bought a Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC card for extra storage space. I also still have my Logitech K330 wireless keyboard and M215 wireless optical mouse, which replaced my old keyboard and mouse that came with my nine-year-old Lenovo IdeaCentre B320, which is now dead, even after I replaced Windows with Linux. I also bought a Wacom Bamboo Ink Plus rechargeable active stylus pen, since I'm a cartoonist/fan artist. I also do some retro gaming on my Surface Pro 4, courtesy of DOSBox and ScummVM.
@@AJChacon Thankfully, my "Flickergate" issues are rare nowadays. I think one or more of these factors might have helped: a gradual decrease in the outdoor temperature, updating every driver on my Surface Pro 4, a protective case with better heat dissipation.
If you are not using it for hardcore gaming or 4K video editing, these SP4's are great bargain PC/tablets right now. Just make sure to get the top of the line SP4 with 16 gb ram and at least 512 gb SSD. Those two features are so future proof that Microsoft has not changed them for the last 3 years. The newest SP7's that are coming out are only about 2.5x faster at most than the i7 SP4 with 16 gb ram according to GeekBench 5 scores. That's fantastic considering one is 3 years older than the other. The newer CPU's have more cores which account for the speed increase and are more energy efficient so battery life is better. The screen quality is largely unchanged. The big difference is a used SP4 can be bought for 20% the price of a comparable SP7.
@@joannemedina8490 sorry for the late reply, I'd say that as long as you don't need any intense 3D modeling program or intense video editing, you should be good. it is not slow, works flawlessly and can be compared to the new generation laps but considering the fact that the screen flickers overtime.. won't recommend you. I have also replaced mine after using it for 4 years due to same reason and Microsoft does helps you even with out of warranty Surfaces. cheers
watching on a surface pro 4, this sucks honestly. Performance is awful (16fps avg on roblox at the lowest settings), keyboard constantly disconnects without me detaching it, flickergate is awful on mine, whenever it's connected to the charger the mouse has a seizure, it takes like 4 minutes to even begin booting up when it's not connected to the charger, it was extremely overpriced for how bad performance it has and how many problems it has. It barely runs better than my school Chromebook, except my mom's ex bought it for me at launch, when it was 900 dollars, and it runs sometimes even worse than my school chromebook, which was likely bought for a fraction of the price. This computer is horrible, and I've never used a computer that had more than 4gb ram in my life. I have never used a good computer, the only other one I used was my mom's old Toshiba thing from a long time ago when I was younger. The computer was 10 years old, and it ran better than my pc. Of course, mine is about 6 years old, but the thing is, I started encountering problems like this left and right at 2 or 3 years. The condition has only been worsening. Oh, and there it is again. While I'm writing this, Flickergate problems are worsening literally as I speak. I have to completely shut off and turn back on my computer, which the computer then, after turning on, randomly decides I'm turning it off, and says, "let go of the power button, we only need a few more seconds to shut off" and then proceeds to take minutes to shut off, I turn it back on, put in my pin, get a black screen, shut off, turn on, finally get no flickergate for 4 seconds, and then it goes back on, except not when objects on the screen are moving. So I watch videos or things that have movement. Then only 1-3 hours, usually 1-2 after I come back, regardless if I've used it or not, it stops even flickering, and the pixels on the screen just become double-vision vertically always. It has 128gb of storage, except I seem to have barely anything downloaded, yet I only have 10gb of space at most, after clearing as much as I could. I have run scans from everything and found no sign of bloatware. I don't know what happened. the keyboard is fraying and separating on all ends, and I don't even notice it anymore. I have sweaty hands, like my hands sweat a little just typing, and that tiny, miniscule bit of moisture over 6 years turned the edges of the keyboard into a complete mess. I don't know what you guys are talking about. This computer is so bad, it runs nintendo 64 emulation only like twice as good as a first release 3ds. Twice as good sounds good. The 3ds is like 5% the size of the surface pro 4, and has 128mb of ram. I really only know ram about pc specs, but I know that 4gb of ram should bring it up to much more than twice as good. Flickergate just got worse again, now that same image from before is flickering up and down like it's double flickergate.
I assume in the event of screen failure you could always hook the tablet to a monitor or TV screen and run it like a PC youd oblivously loose portability and a touch screen but wouldnt this make a great replacement for a Raspberrypi? ( Being used for processing power) Say you wanted to build a Smarthome or SmartRoom Also id assume with a 2.0 Type B USB you could link a Pi Board up to it and use the raspberrypi for GPIO Input anyone?

I have surface pro 4. I bought it on 2017. Is faster. Good quality on the screen. Touch screen is normal. Storage sucks. Nowadays Windows 10 sucks. Face recognition sucks. It broke 2 years and a half later. The pen is good, but no to much apps for use it. For me was 1,000 usd to the garbage. If a device do not (windows app store) have many apps or the only few ones are really bad, DO NOT BUY the device.
Depends. No imo. I have one and it suffers from flickering. I've managed to fix it with a clock that displays seconds and the extreme Intel utility tuner by changing the core voltage to -0.05. With that said I'm typing this with the sp4 i7 1724 model. The ntrig is not good like a Wacom. I use sketchbook pro and cc2017. My surface pro is finicky too. It skips on the left side of the unit as I'm drawing sometimes but I've gotten used to it. If you want a drawing tablet avoid the Microsoft surface brand altogether and get a Wacom mobile studio maybe. I use a Lenovo x230t and that works fine too.. Albeit its older weighs more and not as fast and not a good display compare to resolution. If that doesn't bother you I recommend older Lenovo thinkpads such as the 220 230t variants, they have Wacom digitizers in them and drift on the edges but the 256 pressure is fine. You can get them for 45$ to 150$ on ebay.
I bought it from Amazon. Your mileage may very depending on how neat your install is. @Jason Summers Well, as for me, I use GIMP and/or Krita, which are both free and open-source. I was also thinking about getting back into 2D animation, and when it comes to animation programs, I'm currently torn between Krita and OpenToonz, the latter which is also free and open-source. I also own a copy of the late Richard Williams's book, "The Animator's Survival Kit," as a refresher.

How good is it for photoshop? Note i might go for 25 to 30 layers for the biggest project i could make
I can't recommend using Photoshop on the Core i5 model. When I used it, it ran fairly slow
Does this have an apple earphone jack by chance?
It has a 3.5mm jack for headphones
Would the surface pro 4 work alright for digital art?
Depends. You can get them for 45$ to 150$ on ebay.
where did you buy the screen protector from!!
I've searching for a long time
Bump!
I bought it from Amazon. Your mileage may very depending on how neat your install is.

@@JasonSummers01 thanks a lot buddy🥳🥳
Is it better than the SP7 4gb I3 128 gb
Most likely not. The better efficiency of the new processor will make a big difference in performance and battery life.
Would you recommend buying a surface pro 4 in 2020?
Hii
If surface pro have 4gb ram with i5 6th gen. Then it will lag in adobe Photoshop and illustrator ??
Yeah get 8gb
starbound runs on it insta-buy
Wait what.... srsly I thought u had more subs....
What drawing program do you use?
"Paint Tool Sai 2" and "Medibang"
@Jason Summers Well, as for me, I use GIMP and/or Krita, which are both free and open-source. I was also thinking about getting back into 2D animation, and when it comes to animation programs, I'm currently torn between Krita and OpenToonz, the latter which is also free and open-source. I also own a copy of the late Richard Williams's book, "The Animator's Survival Kit," as a refresher.
Still worth it for 2020?
This guy says if treated well does Surface Pro Cut last you two years. Only two years are you f****** serious you going to pay that grip of money for this system and this guy's telling us we will at least have it for two f****** years. F*** that piece of s*** I rather go out there and pay $700 for a gaming PC and keep that for about 6 or 7 years. Whatever you do don't let this guy promote anything you're selling.
Microsoft surface pro 4 is shit product I have as well after using 30min my screen flickering I think Microsoft surface product is worse
