Ahhh how refreshing watching a video of someone actually working with the device. In youtube reviews, productivity seems to only means "editing videos", leaving the office workers in the dark. Great video.
I have been watching numerous videos weighing the pros and cons of getting the surface pro eight. You’re the first person that has completely convinced me to go in that direction with exactly what you have with the I5 version. Thanks for an excellent review!
This review is just great. I like seeing how the surface pro is actually being used daily. Perfectly summarized the case for this form factor. Substantiated by showing us workflow and many scenarios. Not just "it can be used like so" but "it IS being used in all these ways". This is a very good review.
Just received my Surface Pro 8 today and wanted to thank you for this video. I was surprised how much your videos helped me up and running. I watched a lot of videos before deciding on the SP8 over the new 12.9 iPad Pro. For my use case I decided I didn't need all the power of the M1 chip and preferred a device built with a complete operating system that wasn't developed for mobile devices. Your videos showed examples using the SP8 as both tablet and computer seamlessly. Windows has come a long way. Thanks again!
You are the only UA-camr I’ve come across who discussed external monitor streaming and connectivity which is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so much 🙏🏻👌🏼
I love how you really take all the possibilities which the surface products offer. I had to surface pro 3 when it came out and I used it to the max. onenote was especially great. I used Photoshop with the pen, did animation videos in after effects and edited a lot of videos in Premiere. but now since 4 years i own a surface book 2 because the performance of the i5 surface pro 3 wasn't enough anymore and it's one of the best laptops and tablets in one because of the performance at the big screen and the port selection. together with the surface dock it makes a perfekt work station with a digitizer. and as a photographer I just love the 3:2 aspect ratio. it's just perfect.
Very few reviewers provide any coverage on the webcam and far-field mics. Also, your emphasis on the virtual & collaborative aspects, docking, and multitasking make your Surface Reviews and insights unparalleled on UA-cam.
@@protongmail711 It's decent, but not amazing. I use 120hz all the time so that makes it drain a little faster. But I have it plugged in at work most of the day, so it's not an issue for me.
I chose a SP7 over a SP8 because for my use, I could do everything I wanted on the SP7. I also prefer the bezels on the SP7 & full screen start menu on W10 over the SP8 & W11 for tablet use. Saved some cashola too! I look forward to your SP7 & SP8 comparisons.
I got the Pro 8, but there’s definitely an ergonomics advantage to the SP7/SP7+ when using it as a tablet - The Pro 8 is the heaviest and thickest Surface Pro currently available - Still a fantastic device but yes the bezels are a little slim to use comfortably in tablet mode - I do prefer the bezel on iPad Pro, but the Pro 8 is brilliant for those who need the extra space (makes a big difference when using it as a laptop)
Your OneNote tutorial was excellent. I use it for my work and personal note taking on my Surface 8. I was not aware of all the features in One Note. Looks like a deeper dive by me is needed to learn more of the features.
almost went for sp8, got the hp spectre x360 instead. I'm very happy i did. Spectre has an oled display, same aspect ratio as sp8, 267 ppi, great backlit keyboard with 360 degree hinge, more ports, pen and leather case included. Best part is that i saved over $800 when comparing them spec to spec. Love the surface pro's, but there's so many better options out there right now.
How is the pen on the spectre? Have they dumped that USB-C recharging AES wacom that only lasted for a week before needing to be recharged? I have an Elitebook X360, and that and the 16:9 ratio are the weak points to an otherwise great device.
It's a usb-c rechargable USI pen with up to 2 weeks on a charge. It works fine for me, as I just use it for notes and ui navigation. I've always used surface devices, but the pro 8 and it's ram and storage options really balloon the price. Plus the pen and keyboard are more expensive. Only drawback for me, with the hp, you have to be mindfull as to what surfaces your placing your laptop on, due to ventilation needs. By the way, excellent review, well done.
I ended up opting for the Surface Pro 7 + and love it! Main reasons were the better battery life, bezels to hold it with, legacy USB port and a micro SD slot! Still, the Surface Pro 8 has an awesome screen.
I'm gonna buy it in 1-2 days for animation work. Does 7+ have any heating issues over 4-5 hours of heavy use? Read a few horrible reviews about heating and bad service.
I purchased the surface pro 8 LTE from TabletPC I'm happy with it. I am.still getting used to it as I moved away from an iPad pro. Glad I waited for the LTE version
Great video. I love my surface pro 8 as I use it as both a main computer and a tablet for notetaking etc. I agree that the pen contacting the sp8 can be extremely audible but it is nowhere near as bad as the trackpad click. One thing about the pen that I can not stand is that the haptics tend to disappear, sometimes constantly. The shortcuts button at the end also tends to just not want to work. Disappointing. Overall I would recommend this device but the msrp still seems too much imo.
Great video! I always enjoy seeing how other people use their devices. I'll be checking those apps you mentioned towards the end. I decided to get mine on the i7, 16GB, 256GB config as I wanted to get something that would last me years. I'm doing a second bachelor on engineering and this device is fantastic. While battery life is not as good as I'm used to, coming from an iPad Pro and a Macbook Air, I'm certainly pleased at how versatile this device is (specially when its all in one device). I do use Samsung Notes for most note taking stuff on it although I have to give OneNote a try. Its not the best but its as simple and easy to use as Notability. My other devices are now Samsung branded so I'm sort of used to the app already. Still, Xodo is my to-go PDF app. Anyhow, I'll say, To-do is also one of the best apps I've used and the Phone Link app is another great utility. Overall I'm really pleased with the device and happy I went for it (considering I was gonna get the Surface Go. Who knows... I might end up with a Surface Duo one day...
Awesome video! So many ways to use this device. I ordered the 16GB/256GB i7 LTE model yesterday for my business, mainly going to use it to develop mobile apps and editing photographs. I was considering SLS at first because of the dedicated GPU, but once I took a closer look at how capable the XE graphics inside i7 actually is (benchmarking half of the RTX 3050Ti, insane for integrated graphics!), I thought I don't really need it. I go on photography trips every other week, so a slimmer and lighter device made far more sense to me.
The SLS is tempting as something a bit different/exciting but sounds like you made the right choice. What technology are you using to develop apps btw? I also use Pro 8 for development, brilliant portable device.
Thank you so much Brett for your videos, they are amazing. Now I am part of SP8 community and wanted to ask if we can use SP8 as wired extended screen(without Miracast). It will increase my office productivity while travelling.. Thanks a ton 😊
Great video!! SP8 is still my faviorite Windows device to use, been using the SLS, as great it is, something magical about SP8, and SPX for same reasons.
Surface Laptop Studio is really cool if you do absolutely everything on your computer like watch movies and play games etc. Due to all the modes. I mainly work on my computer and game or watch movies on a TV instead. So I also prefer the Pro 8 for how versatile it is. Windows tablets on Windows 11 insider is finally in a good position that I don't think I'm missing out on much by ditching my iPad completely. Can't wait for an ARM Pro 9 as I've begun using Windows 365 for my dev work, just waiting on nested virtualisation support on W365 now (and the Pro X replacement)
I love my SP8, but I can't believe that people aren't screaming over the placement of the power button. If you ever hold the device on your lap in portrait mode to read or take notes, you have to be really careful not to accidentally power it off. The placement of the power button was way better before the redesign with the 8.
would love some more info on your charging station you built! i've been looking at purchasing one for camping (to charge phones, torches etc) but they seem to range from $500-$1500. also, thanks for the video on the surface pro 8. im almost certain im going to upgrade from my surface pro 4 this week during black friday sales!
Thank you very much for the video on Surface Pro 8...liked the feature you can use the pen to write on the Surface, as an educator this is what I was finding when lecturing online..Im getting the Surface Pro 8 and going to bring the chalk and board experience for me
Can you please do a basic how to use the Microsoft surface pro 8 video as I've just got one and am confused about basic things such as how to get icons or apps onto the screen and how to operate a Microsoft surface in general as I've never used one before. I've gone from laptop with windows to the Microsoft surface and feel so lost. So maybe a video of what you need to know that is different from a laptop? I know I'm late to the game but I'm glad I've finally got one.
This is a little old and needs an update for Windows 11 and Surface Pro 8, but there may be some helpful videos here: ua-cam.com/play/PLfQ0P7GgGaL3DbqymUeqnMlNSnJf1LcNS.html
Thanks for the information. Something that I don't like In the new Whiteboard app is that the eraser deletes the whole drawing when you touch it instead of pixel by pixel like in a real "eraser", that's how it was before the update. For me that's annoying.
As someone who loves calligraphy, I am waiting for that someday, in a galaxy far, far away, when and where there will be a digital pen that has the feel and attributes of my good dip and fountain pens; things like different nibs, the shape, style, weight, texture, and balance of the pen body, and the ability to mimic interesting inks. Until that time, however, I must admit that digital pens are improving, and they are handy for many tasks, but must also say that, for me, nothing else is as pleasurable to use creatively and passionately as a well made fountain pen loaded with a well-behaved, beautiful ink. . . or a well-turned dip pen and a stack of nibs thirsty for some slightly thickened ink that flows so smoothly and freely from the nib's tines onto the paper. Someday.
Hi. I like the magnetic pen attachment on the earlier versions. This is handy if you want the pen without the keyboard. Do you know if the new pen will magnetically attach to the side of the Surface Pro 8?
I've been saying that OneNote is the best, most underrated app that MS has ever created. It is my virtual pentaflex brain. I'd be lost without it. I'm a power user as well... using the Tags function is a complete game changer.
Wow. Great video. I have a question about best desk setup for taking Ms-teams calls on video (external monitor) and taking notes by hand on OneNote. I’ve been trying this by lying my pro down on my desk or almost flat, but since the camera is on the pro, I look weird because I keep looking up when I want to look at mt colleagues. I don’t want them to keep having to look at my chin (or worse, up my nose) when I try handwriting my notes. Suggestions?
Hello - apologies I am sure it is answered somewhere but can I ask what specific model LG monitor you are using there? Would any USB-C monitor work similarly (in theory)? Thanks for the great overview, I am practically looping it.
You need to check that the monitor does PD charging over USB-C. They usually list it in the specification. Most monitors with USB-C would have PD charging, but check first. My LG display is a few years old, but think the current version is this: LG 38WK95C-W amzn.to/2nos2L5
I opted for a decked out Surface Laptop Studio.....had a Surface Pro 2 that wasn't up to handling the bulky Office programs. While it is a great machine....I miss the flexibility of my Surface Pro. If I had seen this video in March.....I would have gone with your recommendation....and...do you have a screen protector on your Surface Pro?
I use the SP7 i7. It's a good laptop mostly because of the excellent keyboard that has no edge under the palm when typing. In terms of performance, it is plenty responsive for what I do (Office, some RAW processing)I use it as a tablet when I absolutely have to use the pen. Otherwise not sure what use it has as a tablet or really why I would need a tablet
Great video. I just bought SP8. Just getting back into using One Note still have a Galaxy Note 20 Utha and love Samsung Notes I just don't like the form factor for taking notes. with Your Phone you can use Samsung Notes on the sp8 as a much bigger form factor. One question - when you flip around the keyboard for tablet mode, does it damage the keys or strain the hinge?
Any movement will create a potential failure. However, the keyboard is specifically designed and tested for this movement. I've been using this style of device for 8 years now and I've never broken the keyboard. I have seen them fail occasionally though (I see thousands of these every year), and the beauty of this device is that you can easily replace the keyboard.
@@oztabletpc That's reassuring, and thanks for the quick reply. Yes, the keyboard is "easily" replaceable in the sense that you simply get a new one. Not so "easily" in the sense they are quite expensive! 😉 Cheers!
Very nice Video. I do have also the SF8 Pro, but I never had the Idea to flip around the Keyboard, it seems to be very comfortable ;D I do have a question. Right now I also have the Note 20 as u mentioned. Would you say the new Surface phone is better or worst compared to it? Said that, I love my Note 20, but it looks like the phone app works really well on with the SF phone...
One Note is cool, have been using it for years now. Need to try out the To Do. Agree on the handwritten note part. I also prefer to write my notes, but then I use a real pen on real paper ;).
Hi - GREAT video. Question in the way you connected to 1 x external monitor - are you just using a USB-C cable to the monitor ? does the monitor supply USB-PD via the same cable to charge the laptop ? would you mind sharing what model LG wide screen display you are using so I can look at the ports spec ... (I have an older LG wide screen display) - thanks, Steve !
Hey, Great Video and Review. I am new on your channel. I use one note and whiteboard with the slim pen 2. What is necessary to erase in one note like I do it with the upper side from the pen in whiteboard? Can’t find any solution. Thanks for your idea
I was originally planning on buying this before I bought my Lenovo yoga 7i but people kept talking about how it's performance doesn't make up for it's price and I've seen some reviews about the keyboard and touchscreen not working
This is an amazing video thank you! I just noticed that you used a usb-c port to charge the Microsoft surface pro 8, can you please tell me what wattage you used and what website to buy it from in America? Thank you
You'll need a USB-C PD charger that outputs 30W or more. 60W is ideal. There are plenty of options for you, but make sure that the charger states that it supports the PD standard.
I have just found your channel and would like to thank you as it is very informative. I will start going back over all your videos. I have a Surface Pro 8 and currently use it as a desktop, connected to a keyboard, mouse and a 32inch monitor, the pro is a second screen. The back of the surface gets very hot, to the point it nearly burns. I know this can not be normal. Any advise please.
In my view, Windows 11 has been a step back for tablet use. My SP6 has been a great tablet and most of that comes down to having a full screen Start menu with my things organized how I like them in Windows 10. Also, Windows 11 falls short on touch targets as well. It's even harder to resize windows. Compare it to Samsung's Dex where it's easier to resize Windows with my fingers.
I did miss the old start menu. But I have re-thought my approach and I can see the benefit of simplicity here. Out of interest, are you using touch with or without the keyboard attached? I'm having trouble with touch targets on the taskbar, but everywhere else seems better to me.
@@oztabletpc Whenever I'm resizing a windows via touch, I've got the keyboard detached. It performs poorly on MY SP6 (Win 10), Book 3 (11) and Go 2 (11). For years I've brainwashed myself into making excuses for Windows, but now that I've got a Galaxy Tab S8 I now realize Microsoft has a long way to go (as far as touch targets are concerned).
Windows 11 is light years better than 10 for tablets... I never used the tablet before 11 came out, now I use it in that mode 90% of the time because its so much better.
Thanks for another great video. I still use my SPX v1 and my Go 3, but the SP 8 is a very interesting device. As an aside, it was interesting to see Journal recently come out of the garage and become Microsoft Journal as a mainstream app. To me Journal does not replace OneNote but it is a fun application and hopefully will help introduce users to pen computing.
Yes, that is interesting. I think Journal is a great stepping stone for new digital note takers. It is very hard to let go of the boundaries of a printed page. So leaving it there makes the jump to digital less challenging for many.
@@oztabletpc Hopefully we’ll get MS Journal cross-platform so we can use it on Surface Duo - Mainly just because locking down your data to one platform leaves a bad taste in my mouth - It’s OK if it’s for throwaway things like speedy notes I take in Apple Notes (Just quicker to re-open a daily note - I miss that feature from Surface Pro 3 and OneNote!) All my “proper notes” that I need to keep have to go into OneNote because it syncs across all devices, and I have to use a range of them for my work Really hoping we get the “One Note above Lock Screen” back eventually, it was the killer feature for me when I got my first Surface Pro 3 so when Windows 10 came out it was sad to lose it, seems trivial but having to lift up the tablet to unlock when it goes to sleep during a meeting is something that adds up in a long meeting
Since I use Edge (with Efficiency mode turned on) - not Chrome - It's not too bad. I also use the 4G/LTE model now too which has a battery cost. But depending on the task I can get through most of the day on charge. Sometimes I top up with a USB-C PD charger on the go (Car, battery bank or Wall). I rarely use the Surface charger anymore.
I picked up the the surface studio felt I could replace my laptop and ipad with this one device and so far it has been able to achieve that , and I can run PC games on it also or Xbox game pass , so really 3 devices
I got the Pro 8, torn on whether I should have gone for the SLS - I’ve always been a Surface Pro fan, but lately I’ve been doing more and more things when I need to reference code in Visual Studio on my Surface Pro, and then have to use my Surface Duo or iPad Pro to take notes relating to that code. Always loved the versatility of one device that can do it all…..but I can also see advantages to separate devices assuming cost isn’t an issue
Hi I'm thinking about buying an i7 16ram pro 8, do you think I can run slack, google meet and google sheets on chrome at the same time without feeling any performance issues?
Great video.. plenty of good tips. How do you find it as a tablet with Windows 11 compared to an android tablet like the tab 7? Considering to switch to the sp8 soon. Cheers Kevin
Great video but I had a Lenovo laptop and it had a lot of the same features as the surface Pro 8. I just placed my order and mine will be arriving in the next few days so I am really excited to get it. I hope it's everything you say it is and more! I don't often splurge (like I said I had a Lenovo) Lol
As always, your videos are a staple of my digital life. I am, like you, a big fan of the surface. It is the ONLY kind of PC we have in our family - everyone has one, and I have several for different purposes. Of course, I also use a phone and have been a Samsung Note user since the Note 8. I heard you mention that you have moved from the Note 20 (my current phone) to the Surface Duo 2. How have you found the move, and is the Duo good enough to actually replace the Note? I absolutely love my Note 20 Ultra - just like I did the Note 10+ ...Which KI think I might have loved a little more, haha. How have you found that transition? I am interested in the two-screen experience, but the Duo is an expensive machine, and I don't have money to burn, so I would love to hear about your journey and if that journey is complete. Keep delivering incredible value with your videos, and I look forward to hearing something about the Duo if you have time to provide it. Cheers!
I have switched to the Surface Duo 2. It's great, for work with 2 screens, but not necessarily an upgrade in other ways. If your budget is tight, stick with your Note 20 which is an awesome phone!
@@oztabletpc Much appreciated - I look forward to the Duo 3 and seeing how it can actually replace a currently awesome phone. .... However I might have switched to the fold by then. The Fold 5 might come with the pen integrated and it might even come branded as the Fold Ultra. Now that would be a significant development and I think Samsung are headed that way. If they make the fold a Note phone and they make Android 12L into what it is touted as being - the uniqueness of the Duo could be put at risk. We would have a folding screen device which can behave like a 2 screen device natively. That would be amazing and would be a natural progression from the Note device I am currently using and am loathe to be parted from. However I crave that dual screen life as I use it in almost every other sphere of my computer use and need the functionality to be as productive as I want to be. The Duo does not yet deliver. The Fold does not yet deliver The most convincing offer that actually delivers in a tried and tested device, that can aid productivity with a multiple screen (or folding screen) set up is likely to get my custom ... and that of myriad other business people who need that and currently crave that functionality...right now. I hope they nail it soon. Fold 5 and Duo 3 ... Heaven help me...I don't want to wait till Duo 5 or Fold 7 to get this done. On that note .... (beware - rant approaching as a rate of knots!!) We had to wait till Surface Pro 8 before we got thunderbolt 4 and a 13 inch screen - and we had to (without explanation) give up the functionality of an SD card reader and a legacy USB-A port just to get the screen and thunderbolt capability. YEARS after others did it with less capable and much less stylish and otherwise well thought out hardware. Neither compromise seemed necessary and it hurts our use of the devices and our productivity. I just hope they can give us the phone we need instead of giving us something that gives us most of what we want but holds some functionality or capability back just because they can. It is a form of malpractice and NOT in the interest of customers. Apple took away ports - only to bring them back. They hamstrung their M1 air device making it possible to only connect ONE screen directly (even though the chip could do much more) I don't want a deliberately hamstrung phone or Surface device. I want devices that push the envelope of what is possible rather than hedging the bets of the company involved. Brand loyalty deserves better than a hedge of the bets. 8 years for a 13inch screen. 8 years! and it cost considerably more when it came! I have a Surface Laptop Studio - it has so much going for it but where is the SD card reader and where are the 2 excellent USB-A ports from the device it replaces. Even Apple went on this exact dance have reversed their steps now. Why not just NOT do this and provide us with devices which do what we want and need. The Surface Laptop Studio needs to have an SD card reader and at least one USB-A port and a HDMI port to boot. Why does it not have one. The same reason the Duo does not have better camera setup - because they have not simply decided to make it so. All the technology to do these things is available and they have delivered all of this before now. These are NOT innovations. Bring on the 2 screen life with every possible kink worked out and a smooth productivity enhanced life .... at least until the advent of the next dramatic technological innovation. I am currently typing on an SB2 - I remember what it felt like in a clients office when - almost in mid sentence - I took the screen off my SB1, got up, walked across the room, and went to sit next to him to sketch out his ideas to help him be more effective. He was stunned, my colleagues were stunned and I was enabled to be the best I could be for that client who went on to achieve what he wanted. My colleagues , some of whom had SB and Surface Pro devices commented that they had never used them in that way and they saw how powerful that could be. Those that were using Mac devices and other PC devices saw a difference - not a better or worse comparison but a capability enablement difference. I had created a mini whiteboard for the client in the moment when his process needed it and nothing had skipped a beat. We all won BECAUSE of that incredible game changing innovation. Let's have more of that and less of this compromise ridden innovation starved halfway house situation that we find ourselves in for too many years and too many iterations! Rant over ... Feels so much better now. Better out than in! Hahah!! Thoughts??
I am planning to buy Surface pro 8, but most of the time I will use it on my lap, so not sure whether it will be wise to buy the device. Other preferences are display, battery and portability.
Here's my suggestion. Get a Surface Pro 8 and invest the time and effort to learn to use it as both a Tablet and a laptop. You will get out what you put in. But don't buy it if you want to keep working the way you already do.😊
I tried to crop to snap on Surface pro 8 and I cant control crop with fingers , it needs keyboards/trackpad to crop the area u want to crop. Is there a way I can crop the screen using my fingers, like using fingers to select area what i want to crop and snap. On windows desktop I hold mouse left button and sellect the area I want to crop .
Still using my spx.. still a fan. But I am looking for a replacement. Sp8 and the galaxy tap 8 ultra are good alternatives. But as they are the same or bigger then the spx I find them almost to big.. luckily I don't need to make that decision yet..
Maybe hold out for a Pro X 2? When that does eventually come out I’ll consider whether I replace my Pro 8 with it - I had the SP X and really liked it. I can tell how much thicker the Pro 8 is personally, the extra weight doesn’t bother me that much - Definitely get shorter battery on the Pro 8, probably got about 33% - 50% longer battery from the Pro X however……The Pro X didn’t have a 120hz screen which makes inking silky smooth and just as responsive as iPad Pro
How do people connect to the internet without wifi? Isn't there a way of using a dongle, USB, portable router that uses cellular LTE hotspots. Mine came today! But internet won't be installed months from now.
The M2 MacBook Air is designed to appeal to a cult obsessed with benchmarks and the ability to stay powered on for a long time in the middle of an Amazonian rainforest. The Surface Pro 8 is designed to appeal to those who want to utilise the filing system of Windows, and decades of Microsoft experience, to achieve maximum productivity in their particular profession.
how did you get "concepts" working? it continually tells me i need to update my drivers but i follow the links to no avail. Fuckin;' love your tips here too pal cheers
@oz, how did you get your tablet to work in portrait mode with the keyboard still attached at ua-cam.com/video/u4JfAfEx9aA/v-deo.html ? Mine remains in landscape mode with the auto-rotate option greyed-out. The only way to get portrait mode is to remove the keyboard in my experience?
I run a SP6 with Windows 11. Was interested to see the way that you rotate the device to portrait for taking notes. I can't find a way to do this without going into settings every time. Am I missing something please?
Look for a setting in the action center (click on the wifi/batttery/sound icon) called rotation lock. If your keyboard is in use (i.e. not folded under or detached) it will be disabled.
@@oztabletpc Thanks for the recommendation, but there is nothing there. Possibly because I have a Brydge keyboard connected via Bluetooth. I will try removing that to see if it pops up :)
I just bought the Pro 8 i7... Honestly idk why I bought it. I just remember the Windows Surface RT from the old days and sorta missed it. So now that i have the Surface Pro 8 (Still haven't opened it yet from its packaging) I'm wondering if I can use it for Coding and data input. Any tips on that?
@@oztabletpc One more question. Can I use it for animation? Making my own characters and animation them for UA-cam videos? I know there are more powerful PC's for that, but I can pull it off on this?
Thanks for asking! We created a OneNote Tutorial Playlist a couple of years back. This would be a good place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Z3-37SprjBs/v-deo.html Lots of new things coming to OneNote and we'll have an update out soon.

This is one of the best videos about surface 8 pro I have watch many on UA-cam this video convince you to buy it
Thank you so much keep it up 🧡🤛
Such a good video. Seriously, it shows all the little beneftis of this device in a pleasing way. Great video. Thank you!
almost went for sp8, got the hp spectre x360 instead.
@@oztabletpc I use my Surface Pen on my 16 inch Spectre x360...
@@PleasantlyDisturbing No heating issues! I would imagine animation work would cause it to get ‘warm’ though.
Do x64 applications work with the SP7+?
Yes, it's an Intel powered PC.
@@oztabletpc Thanks for the quick response, did you notice any heating issues as mentioned above? Read a lot of bad reviews because of this.
I purchased the surface pro 8 LTE from TabletPC I'm happy with it. I am.still getting used to it as I moved away from an iPad pro. Glad I waited for the LTE version
What about the Battery Life?
@@protongmail711 I'm still getting used to it. I'm getting at least 6 hours
This video was exactly what I needed. Brilliantly explained
One of the best reviews I've ever watched
Def the best video out there on the SP8. Thanks for sharing, waiting for mine tomorrow.
Great review. Out of the classic ones who only speak about technical features and facilities. Nothing like an experience use like yours. Thanks!
Samsung Notes now syncs with OneNote. Best of both!
@@oztabletpc I've seen the toggle but haven't tried it! Nowadays all my portable devices have a stylus... Guess this is the way!
how do u use samsung notes on it? Can u install the App on non Samsung Devices? Or do u use the link to Windows feature?
Great video. Really helpful and your presentation shows how impressive this device is.
Simply turn off this key in Windows settings
Great and intuitive video. Thank you. I’ve just invested in a new Surface Pro 8 after years of my great Surface Pro 2 that’s been fantastic
would love some more info on your charging station you built! i've been looking at purchasing one for camping (to charge phones, torches etc) but they seem to range from $500-$1500. also, thanks for the video on the surface pro 8. im almost certain im going to upgrade from my surface pro 4 this week during black friday sales!
If you still have old surface devices you could do comparison of video and sound quality for all devices you have.
Just found you … awesome, thanks, subbed. I am looking to change from an old HP … SP8 or 9 - which do you recommend in May 2023 in Oz?
Thanks for the information. Something that I don't like In the new Whiteboard app is that the eraser deletes the whole drawing when you touch it instead of pixel by pixel like in a real "eraser", that's how it was before the update. For me that's annoying.
Yeah, lots of bugs with erasing too. Please be sure to leave feedback in the app!
Do you have a video where you make the battery box and provide specs? I vaguely recall seeing it at some point.

It does. And you can magnet attach the old style pen too.

My LG display is a few years old, but think the current version is this: LG 38WK95C-W amzn.to/2nos2L5
i just got mine and i’m so excited to use it!
Great video, probably the best presentation of Surface Pro 8, well done great job!!!
Do you use a screen protector? I want to but I don’t know which brand to buy. Also I’m worried it will mess with the touch sensitivity?
Great video - i would really like to know what type of LG screen that is? :D the white one you hook it up to
I use the SP7 i7.

I was originally planning on buying this before I bought my Lenovo yoga 7i but people kept talking about how it's performance doesn't make up for it's price and I've seen some reviews about the keyboard and touchscreen not working
I am a music teacher and need to draw on sheet music and record it as I am teaching. Will this work for me? If not, what can you recommend?
@@ttrotary7 Exactly. Amazing how I never experience the problems that other people claim to experience...lol

@@oztabletpc Hopefully we’ll get MS Journal cross-platform so we can use it on Surface Duo - Mainly just because locking down your data to one platform leaves a bad taste in my mouth - It’s OK if it’s for throwaway things like speedy notes I take in Apple Notes (Just quicker to re-open a daily note - I miss that feature from Surface Pro 3 and OneNote!)
All my “proper notes” that I need to keep have to go into OneNote because it syncs across all devices, and I have to use a range of them for my work
Really hoping we get the “One Note above Lock Screen” back eventually, it was the killer feature for me when I got my first Surface Pro 3 so when Windows 10 came out it was sad to lose it, seems trivial but having to lift up the tablet to unlock when it goes to sleep during a meeting is something that adds up in a long meeting
Hello, how is your surface pro 8’s battery life while doing all these tasks? Great content!
@@oztabletpc Thanks for the response! I'm planning to get one this black friday :) For the USB-C PD charger do you have any recommendations on that?

Awesome. Remember that it will be what you make it. You'll need to learn, adapt and change to take full advantage of it. But it is very worthwhile.
This is the review i was looking for
As always, your videos are a staple of my digital life.
The Fold does not yet deliver
The most convincing offer that actually delivers in a tried and tested device, that can aid productivity with a multiple screen (or folding screen) set up is likely to get my custom ... and that of myriad other business people who need that and currently crave that functionality...right now.
I hope they nail it soon.
Fold 5 and Duo 3 ... Heaven help me...I don't want to wait till Duo 5 or Fold 7 to get this done.
On that note .... (beware - rant approaching as a rate of knots!!)
We had to wait till Surface Pro 8 before we got thunderbolt 4 and a 13 inch screen - and we had to (without explanation) give up the functionality of an SD card reader and a legacy USB-A port just to get the screen and thunderbolt capability.
They hamstrung their M1 air device making it possible to only connect ONE screen directly (even though the chip could do much more)
I don't want a deliberately hamstrung phone or Surface device.
Hahah!!

But I haven't got it to work.

What’s the pros of surface pro 8 over M2 MacBook Air ? Apart from the tablet mode

When you fold the keyboard to the back, it turns off, enabling auto rotate. There is a switch built into the hinge.
How do I clear the cache on the surface pro 8
I run a SP6 with Windows 11. Was interested to see the way that you rotate the device to portrait for taking notes. I can't find a way to do this without going into settings every time. Am I missing something please?
Look for a setting in the action center (click on the wifi/batttery/sound icon) called rotation lock. If your keyboard is in use (i.e. not folded under or detached) it will be disabled.
@@oztabletpc Thanks for the recommendation, but there is nothing there. Possibly because I have a Brydge keyboard connected via Bluetooth. I will try removing that to see if it pops up :)
Good idea. Also if the Rotation Lock icon is not there in the action center, you may have to add it. Look for the add + icon.
@@oztabletpc yep and yep. Have now tried both with no luck :( It isn't showing on the add options.
Yes, it's a very portable developers device.
@@oztabletpc One more question. Can I use it for animation? Making my own characters and animation them for UA-cam videos? I know there are more powerful PC's for that, but I can pull it off on this?
@@HazbinHotelStaff I'm sorry, but I have no experience to know. I suspect it would be workable.
How do you download apps on it? Google play store?
What is the best tutorial to learn how to use OneNote?
Thanks for asking! We created a OneNote Tutorial Playlist a couple of years back. This would be a good place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Z3-37SprjBs/v-deo.html
Lots of new things coming to OneNote and we'll have an update out soon.
