On the Settlers 2 - 10th anniversary edition when you are at maximum zoom, you should see a terrain shape through fog. Through fog at any view height, you always see destruction smoke and you can attack a building a few journeys inside the fog.

good job adjusting the volume of your music! Sounds much better now. This is such a good game!!! Is there an optimal number of fields for a farmer? I usually put between 10-20 but I have no idea is this is the right number.
Thanks for the feedback. Glad I could make it better! On the fields... my focus on series will get there, but at the moment I don't know. I've been putting in 8 or 9 fields generally. I know the devs do more than that, but I find I have more than enough resources at the end of the day, so I don't feel the need to do more in the end. I can say that there's a recent fix for farmers, where they were ignoring the range limit and goin to any empty fields. They shouldn't do that any more. They should stay within the indicated range.
Did you know that you can turn off guidance objectives on any map besides first tutorial map.
I had seen that. I need to investigate because the objectives are really helpful in the end game when you're trying to make allies.
