- Kalyanam Raghuramiah better known as Eelapata Raghuramiah - was a versatile singer, stage & cinema actor, the one and only exponent of Eelapata or the art of singing with Whistle, who mesmerized millions of art lovers by singing with his right index finger placed over his tongue. He achieved great heights and fame without ever getting trained properly in music. He went on to bag several accolades and titles, Padmasri being on top of the list. This program is a tribute to this great actor/singer par excellence.

చాలా గొప్ప గాయకుడు. నాకు ఆయన పాడిన రామాంజనేయ యుద్ధంలో సాకేత సార్వభౌమ అనే పాట చాలా ఇష్టం. కనీసం రోజుకి ఒక ఒకటి రెండు సార్లు అయినా అది నేను పాడుకుంటాను. ఈ కార్యక్రమాన్ని రూపొందించిన ఆయన పుత్రునికి ధన్యవాదాలు.

There is no legend who could beat Raghuramiah gaaru in acting and singing in unique Marathi style.. He sang in his Guru Chotha Gandharva style and took the people to a different world with his padya aalapana and whistles .. I couldn't procure anywhere whistle for my father . He is no more . Very happy to see this video where atleast few seconds I listened to his whistle.. I listened many times in AIR Hyderabad in 1990s his whistle .. But the AIR Hyderabad declined to provide me a copy of recording when I went to station at Nampally in 2002.

I was 11 year old kid in my native place Anantapur, when I first saw and heard RRamiah garu. Ignorant though, I was his rendering padyam was unique and impressed me. Six months before he paased away in 1975, I was lucky to see his Sanmanan at Anantapur Lalita kala parishat and his thanksgiving speech. Now I am 60 plus, still i cherish the memory of RRamiah garu. It was a plesure watching the short film. Thanks.

During 1946..50 period I was lucky to see the great legendary actors like Raghuramayya garu. Peesapati .Dv Subbarao. .Banda kanaka lingeswararao garu in Sri Krishna Sri Krishna rayabharam...I am 86years now but can not forget this great person .My Pranamams to his devine soul ..

Sir, I am lucky to see him in Sri Krishna Rayabharam NATAKAM played in Pendekallu RS, now Tuggali Mandal, Kurnool district, as SRI KRISHNA, 3rd in 1967/68. Their troop put up their stay in Late Sri Jowli Sunkaiah Garu residence. Still their sons are there who are my classmates in high school. Those are golden days, which never come back, but can be remembered.

occasion, p bhanumsthi garu said after she saw sri krishna rayabaram drama played by peesapati troop including eelpati raguramayya garu ,that "patalu eelapati and natanaku peesapati" a marvelous &ever rememberable apt remark I always feel.

Sri Kalyanam Ramakrishna Garu, you are very fortunate to be Sri Raghuramiah Garu. He was a great artist. We actually saw his performance with Sranan Garu troup. Audience used to ask him to give whistle songs in between the drama. Their troup performed for four days at Music Acadamy in 60s. I was a small boy at that time. It’s very good that you brought this video to make us recollect those memorable events.

After a very long time, I could make a documentary on the professional life and achievements of my Dad Sri.Eelapata Raghuramiah. I am sure his innumerable fans and followers will enjoy this presentation. I wish to add though that due to the technological disadvantages of his time (era), I couldn't show any of his dramas which made him a Legend. I was lucky enough though to play his Eelapata for a short duration thanks to Doordarshan. Through UA-cam I humbly request YT followers to share with me any of his Eelapata recordings or rare pictures, if they are available with you.

Thank you for this valuable contribution to Telugu cultural history. It is my humble thought that his influence is on both Ghantasala and NTR. On the former in modernizing the rendering of Telugu padyalu, and on the latter in modeling the portrayal of Sri Krishna. This could be a rich topic for motivated student scholars and experts. Also, it will be a real contribution to the language if a good quality print of Sri Krishnarayabaram can be located and restored.
Thank you so much for sharing your valuable thoughts about my father Sri. Raghuramiah. On many occasions and on various platforms, Sri.Akkineni Nageswara Rao himself had observed that my father influenced Sri.NTR and that the latter had picked up few styles too while portraying the character of Lord Krishna. Unfortunately, Sri Krishna Rayabaram movie which was produced more than a half a century ago, can't be traced. Even if it's found, the print must have been damaged very badly.

At my 15th year (1961) it happened to meet Sri Raghuramayya Garu, Sita and others at Thilaru rly station SKLDist. when they got down from VSP train and we are waiting for train to VSP. I gave one rupee note for his autograph. He signed with lovely smile. It's a thrilling event I never forget.👍🙏
