Nice ER work with the incision to deflate that boy. We were blown away by the sound it made when it came up! That was some serious pressure! Well done again as usual!! Great video!!
Nice! Those rods look super parabolic must have been really bent. Was pretty sore after this one definitely glad I had the more old school stiff jigging rod.
Sorry to be that guy... You should have just harvested that ulua... Cool you gave him a chance. But you can see he's just sinking. In my opinion he's a goner for sure. I don't like to keep big uluas either, I understand. Nice shibi after that though! Fiyah action! Tight lines!
Ah man that's a bummer but thanks for the input. I was told to just bring the fish up slower next time so it doesn't bloat. Mahalos dude and same to you 🤙
@@AffordableWahoo oh ok nice catch if I caught one that big for my first one on a kayak I would eat it then if I catch more big ones I would let them go for the shore fisherman
My comment got deleted because I posted a URL (I hope) I didn't think it was offensive! If this is a common occurrence, you could look into a cheap descender device to send these fish back to the depths alive. Just do a search. The ones that are just a piece of bent wire work well and could be made at home. Thanks for all the vids!

Thanks man was a battle for sure. Looking back I should have brought it up more slowly to let it equalize down deep.
I caught a 15lb ulua yesterday oahu. 120g on a baitcaster and goofish rod and what a battle. You got a workout with that monster 💪

Impressive job getting that majestic ulua off the bottom and great release Shea.
Thanks man!

Amazing! Just Subbed
Thanks for the sub!
Nice Ulua! Hey affordable how come you don’t keep the ulua?
Thanks! I don't keep the big ones because I'd rather let them go to breed. Just my opinion but I think the smaller ones are better eating.

What year rev13 do you have? Is it a sit-in or on-top (2015 and up model)
It's a 2015 model. They're all technically sit on top, but yeah the 2015s and onward have the nice lawn chair instead of the cheap cloth one.
That first strike on the live bait looked like a good fish! Too bad it came off. Nice shibi!
Yeah man bummer on that one thanks!
Nice fish
Mahalos 🤙

Thanks for the advice! I'll look into some options for this because another big GT is bound to bite eventually.
Nice Ulua! I caught a monster once outside Keauhou, took me an hour to land and strained both of my hamstrings. Those things are brutes!
Thanks man! Mustve been a beast ulua if it took that long.
what slammer size did u use for that big gt?
The 5500. A bit too small for this style of fishing IMO though.
Braaa
Water looks cherry bud
You don't care to eat Ulua?
Smaller ones yeah but the bigger ones get ciguaterra so I'd rather let them go
