    I’m not gonna lie, the tip you gave about keeping the v pointed down lane was the perfect cue to keep me inside the ball. Bravo. Got a more consistent ball reaction because I can consistently make that mind body connection.

    Mannn, just what I needed. I went bowling last night to work on my slide and swinging my arm back for power. Went from 12mph to 16mph. Issue is, at that speed, I'm struggling to keep my hand on the inside to properly get rotation on the ball.

    • @CurtisL8.3066
      @CurtisL8.3066 Рік тому +1

      Grip pressure should be minimal, think of holding it like a baby bird. Not too easy not too hard. Just right. Pitches affect comfort, stretching or reducing your span can affect ball roll. Thumbnail should push into the slug with tape tight enough to almost push the ball off your hand

    I can't use my whole thumb. I cock my wrist to the left and barely rim the thumb hole with the tip of my thumb... For lack of a better way of putting it. I just can't cup the ball when using my thumb, either forearm strength is low or my wrist is weak. Been bowling for 17 years, I'm currently 34, and my league average is 207. I haven't had a 300 yet. /: Or an 800. My bests are 288 game and 774 three game series.

    I never held on the inside (always 3 quarter drill & to the outside). I won Bowler of the Year & was 11th in the State of Florida Division 3 by age 15 in just 2 years of bowling.
    My avg went from 115 to 157 to 171 in 3 years. I had to quit since everything was stolen from me. I would play 3 games a year for a few & averaged 204 in those practice games. I havent bowled in 13 years & Im 100000% sure I could roll a 200 tomorrow.
    Everyone is different. I also never had a spare ball. I learned to flatten my wrist to stop the hook & that let me take out the 7 pins (Im a lefty)
    My changing that same wrist angle I could control the hook even more I pick up splits. Add speed. Reduce hook etc. It was all hitting marks & feel.
    Do what works for you. There is no correct way.

      That’s true. I can throw my hook ball straight by coming straight up the back. When you look at their release you see that they actually roll the ball at about a 45 degree angle, however they don’t start at that spot. They start inside or behind the ball. I think that’s why they say “stay behind the ball.”

      I tend to agree with that, I've always come around and I'm sure that is a result of using plastic house balls for years and having my palm at damn near 9 o'clock on the release just to hit the pocket flush. I had to really adjust once I got an actual ball that reacts, but even then, I'm still coming around, though not as much.
