For me in my garage around 65 degrees I simply applied I’m small sections, put my applicator down , grabbed my two towels and you can see the coating already “sweating” ready to be removed. Going into that install understanding you have to do a small area I think it's a huge deal because I went into it hoping that I could do large areas like I'm used to and that caused a lot of problems and that was kind of irritating.
      But as a new buyer of a coating and putting on for the first time if you understand you have to do those small sections then I wouldn't imagine the average person's really going to enjoy the install

    I put down MOHS Evo (single-layer) about 10 months ago, and I have been doing regular maintenance washes and the car is indoors most of the time. It is performing spectacularly and I see no change in hydrophobics or gloss since the job was first done.
    I did the application myself and I did not have any difficulty with it. I did learn that it's best to work on a panel at a time, or even 1/3 to 1/2 panel and that it can be leveled out a minute after applying. I used a generous amount of product (50ml was plenty for the whole car though) and did no cross-hatching as it doesn't need it like many coatings do as it's not thin or runny and bonds super-fast. The level of effort for both the application and leveling out was quite minimal; I think the easiest ceramic product I've ever worked with. I use nothing but Gyeon products (except for Hydro2 which I put on my wheels after cleaning) and I did watch a demo of the MOHS install so maybe that's why it was easy for me.

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Рік тому

      I'm pretty sure I was referencing not using car washes. Because this car was only hand washed.
      If you were to use automatic paid car washes then I would stick strictly to the touchless kind. The average chemical that's going to shoot out shouldn't really affect your coating we're always concerned about too much friction coming from what I like to call the slappers. That's the car wash with the big strips that fly around smack your car for example

I have a Lexus with quite soft paint and am always worried about how many passes I do with a cloth or a wash media. I know Audi paint May be a bit harder but I’d like your opinion

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Рік тому +1

      It's always a thought for sure. But agitation is extremely important when you don't wash a car for months lol.
      If your washing weekly. Bi weekly or monthly but not driving much then one fast wipe should do the trick.
      The video didn't show it but after one wash pass the truck still didn't bead. Pass two was better and pass 3 and rinse was what you saw. It was simply necessary. If we got slight marring it's a unfortunate part of the game.
      You can try tougher chemicals but that's unlikely to substitute for proper agitation.

I thought the MOHS part of the process was simple - applies easily, sweats quickly to let you know its flashed, and levels/buffs easily. We thought the Synchro product was more difficult to apply, as it didn't spread or level as easily. I did my first install of Mohs 5 weeks ago and my second last week and I must say that I agree wholeheartedly about the installation process. It’s not difficult but nowhere near as pleasant as CSL. I don’t like working in small sections at all. When I do CSL I coat the hood and two panels above the front wheel wells and I’m still able to level effortlessly. That’s not even a consideration with Mohs. But, despite the installation I am impressed with gloss, slickness and self cleaning capabilities from what I’ve seen in such a short amount of time with it. Gyeon is one of the most sought-after brands worldwide. Maintenance is key to any reputable ceramic and graphene ceramic coatings. Layers of dirt build up over a period of time, fenders and lower body panels tend to behave flat in extreme cases. After pre-rinse and contact wash it's back to life like first time. After working with Gyeon coatings I have recommended a maintenance wash at least very 3 weeks and a decontamination wash every 6-8mths for daily driven vehicles.
    One thing I would like to say is that if you're going to use soap, use one brand:
    Gyeon Foam for pre-rinse on extremely dirty vehicles then Gyeon Bathe for your contact wash.
    Alternatives
    Koch Chemie - Green Star & GSF
    or
    IGL - Blizzard and Orange Fuel Wash.
    Mixing various brands together can possibly have a negative effect on the coating.
    Remember to use grit guards and high-quality wash media.

      That car has been sold!
      My overall impression of that coating was that it was very impressive.
      I treated it incredibly badly. Car lived outside literally everyday. Was underneath a tree most of that time birds pooping on it repeatedly. And I truly didn't wash it very often like literally wouldn't go months at a time without a wash.
      But when it came time to wash it it would still be water and looked great.
      Towards the end of my ownership of that car after it had been on the car for over a year It started a fade slightly but it was definitely still working.
      Had I taken care of it even slightly good I'm sure it would have been in perfect health.
      So I truly put it through a genuine torture test and it was still working at the end.
      I do recommend that ceramic and that's why it's sold in my store.
      My current personal preference is still CSL though.

    I have CSL and 2 coats of EXO on mine.. I had some water spots on my hood so used CarPro Spotless 2.0.. It completely killed the coating beading behaviour Have you witnessed this before? Washed twice with Reset now, Used Iron x and still seems “dead” .. Just how it is? Would say i applied it July 2022.

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Рік тому +1

      It's never totally killed my ceramic but spotless is basically a acid. So it's pretty strong. A really good soap like reset again with a nice long dwell time and proper long agitation much help.
      Iron x and spotless tend to leave residue that kills beading.
      If you try hydro or wetcoat next wash it might revive it after the mentioned steps.
      Out of curiosity how did you use spotless?

    • @ItsRyan.
      @ItsRyan. Рік тому

      @@STATUSDETAIL Thanks for the reply. Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s 100% dead.. It still kinda sheets water but it’s nowhere near like the rest where spotless wasn’t used. Plus before the spotless treatment the beading was 100% normal after a reset wash “unclogging” it. Which is making me think that’s caused it.
      I’ll keep trying with Reset giving it a throughout wash & dwell time.
      I sprayed it on the cool panel, Let it dwell for a minute or so, Then rubbed in with a wet/damp microfiber. Then rinsed.. It actually did the job of removing the water marks quite well. Just my coated took a beating too. Do you think I’d be ok just putting a fresh layer of EXO on after a wash? Thanks

      It flashed very quickly. So you need to work very slowly in small sections or it might bond to fast and high spot.
      Your environment will alter the bond time. As in temp and humidity.
      I can typically coat a full door for example but with this I feel I need to split it into like 3 sections. Plus it's a two coat application for max durability. Crystal serum light goes on Easier and is one layer and has incredible durability. Mohs had good durability though

I agree that it is a "problem" that Gyeon do not offer Skin separately so you can top up the Synchro coating every one or two yeears. I recommend you watch my series on this product. The reason I say that is because I directly compare it to CSL in just about every video.
      Our primary costing that we like to use and and sell in our car care store is CSL
      In my opinion CSL is a better product than this but this is very close if not potentially identical in durability and water beating so far.
      I believe I prefer the appearance of CSL and definitely the application. The application is the biggest difference in my opinion and it's worlds apart and much easier to install.
      It also has little things like includes gloves for example which is kind of nice considering gyeon does not include gloves and the only way to really get a pair of gloves to use is going to be to buy a box of 50 and that's another 30 bucks on top of your coating cost. So having that included in the box basically for free is very nice

      @STATUSDETAIL  Рік тому

      The car definitely has some spots on it. Mostly from tree related gunk sitting on a car that gets wet and in sun. I'm positive a light polish will correct it. It's only on upward facing surfaces. The sides are fine. This is me treating the car badly and not a ceramic issue. Anything will water spot with hard water. So always be mindful to wash in shade on a cool car. Any product that makes water bead up will possibly make water spots happen.
      It's the one funny thing about flat water sheeting on Mon coated or waxed cars. They never spot lol

      That's over simplifying it. A lot goes into applications of ceramic. How it does it's initial cure is very important to the Bond and overall durability.
      This cures to rapidly in my opinion. This can make high spots. Forces you to work small sections. And can lead to high spots very quickly.
      The install experience with other products is more forgiving and have better durability.
