If it won’t slide back in, you gotta spit on that thang! Give it a little hawk rush! And it’ll slide right in 👌🏼
Just had a rock or something hit mine this past weekend, I'm planning to use this video when I end up replacing it, thanks!
Rock on!
I’ve replaced 3 on my CX5, they pull off easy though they do crack when pulling off. New ones feed down 1/2 an inch into the window sill chrome and then push on easy. I had them all PPF but that was not easy to keep clean so now I’ve applied Gtechniq Halo ceramic coat to the PPF. Early days but this seems to be a very good approach. The PPF plus the ceramic coat. Applying the ceramic coat was extremely simple. They are now super smooth and hydrophobic.
Thanks for sharing
Just did this for a 2014 passat and got stuck for 2 hours trying to get the piece back in lubed and everything. Key for me was the window needed to be slightly raised to be used as a guide to get it back in. Also the clips can be pushed out easily with a flat head screw driver, then pressed back in with your finger. Thanks for the great video, really helped!
its a huge pain bro, nice job
Sliding the rubber seal back into place can be a total PIA.
Spray the backside of the seal (which sits flush against the metal door frame) with some Carnuba wax or anything safe on rubber. It'll set into place much easier.
hell ya lube is the trick cody rhodes
Nice video! I have a '13 GTI and my driver pillar trim got tiny white holes all spread out, presumably from fireworks. Anyway after watching this video, I'll go replace mine. Should be similar. Thanks for the video again!
hopefully the same design
Great vid. Wrapping mine today
Thanks Coops. Good luck today, it's not fun.
'As I tried to insert this first, dry...and it wouldn't go in and I was panicking!
You have to lube this whole back channel, so it will slide nicely down the hole'

Giggity
Dead 😅😂🤣💀
the weird thing is i wasn't even thinking of jokes one time in that entire video like i usually would...
Awesome thanks
No problem!
I’ve got a warping B pillar on my 2018 Highlander…. It’s bending outward so it just needs some tape or glue under it? Any suggestions? I’m a novice here
The B-Pillar on these cars scratch if you sneeze on them 😅 so I got them polished and put PPF on them as the swirled/micro-scratches were driving me mad. I highly recommend getting something on there, especially on that fresh from factory piece!
Very good idea.. although getting that PPF installed perfectly would drive me crazy too.. so ill just live with it.
I wish someone had perfect cutouts for the 4 b pillars, the hard part would be cutting your own. I would want a 1mm gap along edge just for ease of install.
Yea I had my B pillars done when I got my Audi’s PPF installed. The scratches on the B pillars drove me crazy on my VW. It’s a bit late for it now but Couldn’t you just tuck edges of the PPF behind the pillars prior to installation. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about straight precise edges.
You covered that I see now.
Thanks for sharing, I feel more confident to try on kuga mk2.
Do you have one for repainting these while off?
nope, but it would be easy. you'd need to lightly sand everything so it sticks.
Great content as usually…question? If I wanted to try to polish it out ? What would you suggest?
very gentle w polish. really, i would only hand polish the plastic, or very light with a polished and soft pad. or you can use plastic polish.
but honestly.. i dont bother. cuz within 2-3 washes its scratched up again anyway
Better lesson than my dad gave me. Haha 😂
hmmmmm
I need to replace a rear door one. apparently the whole door needs to come apart and glass to be removed. not replacing it anymore-
The dealer wanted 600 to replace all four, said something about heat gun and adhesive….
lol... naw man.
What was the lube made of that you sprayed on the rubber? Serious question, no matter what it sounds like. Or you can share you favorite lubes for both purposes.
anything. just detail spray or even armor all.
thanks!
I guess is the same process for a seat leon mk3? I want to remove those trims because sometimes they squeak, so I think if I lub the part of the gum that is behind the trims the noises will go away
most cars are the same. even my 2018 Dodge Charger Scat Pack had the same design for pillars, and I also replaced the "tape" on that one.
@@LastHumansGarage I cant take off the gums, no matter how hard I pull... :(
Great video btw! thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Did doing this introduce any rattles or clicks from the B pillar?
not on mine
What spray did you use to make the rubber insert to the original position after putting the new part?
I am curious if you ever have experienced rattling or noise from the B pillar which happens when windows are all not opened. I am considering changing the same part you worked due to the noise. Please let me know if you have any tip with that.
any spray like aerospace 303, detailer spray, armor all
Wow shows how to do the easy one but not the back one where the window doesn't roll down all the way lol
i mean you should be able to google a manual or something..
Are the screws meant to be able to be tightened? Just wondering if mine are stripped
ya. kinda.. all screws are made to be tightened.. lol.. its been years since i did that job.
No they are not tightened, it's a rivet sort of screw where it's only purpose is to expand the square clips they sit in.
@@AdiusOmega thanks!
Hello my friend I need to order Inside Door sill trim plastic ... I hade a problem with water in Skoda Fabia Nj5 2020 and when they remove they broken a lot of clips and scratch 😢 all of them driver side and passenger side .... I am trying to find how to order but i dont know how ....if you can help me I would be really thank full ....
order from dealer.
can you give me the part number for the door applique/b trim?
oh man, i doubt it. long gone by now.
Is it the same for the rear door?
probably.
@@LastHumansGarage nope. you need to remove the glass to get access to the seal and the screws.
Does anyone know how to get the rear piller off I cracked one alrdy because the windows doesn't roll down all the way
bro.. hmm.. i saw this yesterday and been thinking about it.. i mean, maybe there is a hidden screw somewhere else under the rubber trim you CAN access....
@@LastHumansGarage no you jave to completely drop the windo aka take the doorpanel off that's why he didn't do the back ones lol
Maybe if ur lucky you can get it out without cracking it but there was no hidden screw after I dropped the window. Maybe I'm just not gental enough probably
Just realised that's u 💀
@@weebclips3807 I'm trying to replace the rear pillar trim on my 2014 Passat. Since the rear window doesn't go all the way down, I can't get to the bottom screw. Do I really need to take off the whole door panel? Lame!
Is this Lars from Metallica?😂
