How to remove the A-Pillar trims VW GOlf 7

A short video on how to remove the A-Pillar trims on your Volkswagen Golf 7.
It will be the same on any car with an airbag on the pillar, the trim will not come easy out because of the clips.

Perfect! Well done showing the back of the trim with detailed info about clips and pillar hole locations. I've seen another blog but it didn't help like your video has! The mounting clip for the lower window trim u remove after the A pillar is notorious for rattle noises. Some tesa felt tape fixes it. Now I'm ready to fix it!

A tip for removing the trim. If you look at the clips, there are teeth that seem to keep the tab from coming out. In the video, note that the slot that these two clips rest in are slotted. Instead of using a lot of force to remove the trim, pull the trim until it stops. Take a long, thin screwdriver and slide each of the clips upward. They will disengage from the trim allowing you to pull the trim away. The clips will remain in the slot. I removed the clips from the slot so that installation would be easier. I essentially had to crush the clips to get them out and use new clips. Doing the revers screwdriver trick would have been too tricky.

Did you video the reinstall? Im having a really hard time reinstalling them. Removal you can just yank real hard but the install fitting the end of the pillar in place is very hard trying to get everything lined up and the parts that need to bend you dont really have control over from the opposite end of the pillar.

I got it! It seemed impossible. It will not slide just right in, the dash and window trim pieces it has to slide into require a lot of twisting and the only way that worked required me to significantly push down on the compressible dash to squish it in. Pretty nerve racking but the dash did not get scratched or torn.

Spray the clips with some WD-40 and make sure that the clips are aligned with their slots
