Ok, I live in Sacramento. I does get very hot in the summer. But it cools off usually in the 60’s in the evening. There is this thing called the delta breeze which cools off the city at night. The river cats do play some Sunday day games but they are not well attended because of the day heat. The reason for the artificial turf is that both the A’s and the river cats will both be utilizing the field and and turf grass would never hold up for that many days of play. I imagine someone will be playing most days of the summer there
If I were a Sacramento city politician or business leader, I would start immediately rallying the populous and other business leaders for the stadium and the A’s. This is Sacramento‘s chance to show MLB that they can successfully be the home of a team. They already have an NBA team, and it would be a longshot to get an MLB team, but this is their chance to shine.
The first thing they should look at is Transportation and City development. Having the A’s there will cause major traffic jams, having walkable areas and reliable transportation to the stadium would be a huge help and more money for both West Sac and Downtown
@@limpwhaleThere won't be any more traffic jams than there already are for River Cats or events at G1C. It's pretty quick and easy leaving Sutter Health Park on a game night. There's also plenty of lot parking as well as garages within a half mile of the stadium. There was also news just a few days ago that the city will have a shuttle service if you're parking in downtown garages
I heard it is because the River Cats are still going to play there as well and they're going to turf because it would be too much wear and tear on a natural surface.
Exactly, the smaller, more intimate stadium model would be for small market teams. My guess is that they will add seats to this stadium in Sacramento and love it. I owned a chain of restaurants. Many of my mid volume locations made more money than my urban, high-volume locations. Reason? Overhead. MLB is all about TV revenue now. Build the small park for $500-$700m tops.
This park was built in 9 months. In order to do that the footings had to be much stronger than normal, and it was designed to support an upper deck to bring capacity to 30,000.
I think that I have read that the A's will share the stadium with the River Cats. I think it would make more sense to temporatly relocate the AAA team to Fresno or someplace else. When the Toronto Blue Jays played temporarily in Buffalo the Bisons AAA team played in Trenton, NJ.
The heat is gonna be crazy, and playing on turf outside it will be really hot for the players. from what im hearing the players don't want turf. Also, I've heard season ticket priority is going to Kings ticket holders first.
There should be a rethinking of the configuration of new stadiums, with lower capacity of 28-33k, with bleachers and/or grass berms in the outfield, or home run decks reminiscent of the older stadiums. Unobstructed seating is good in theory, but in practice you wind up further and further away. Wrigley Field has girders, which brings the upper deck in close, and which should be the template for new stadiums.
Also, were not gonna sell out every game especially the games against teams like the Nationals in the middle of the summer when its 104 outside on a Tuesday.
Even if the A’s are only there temporarily, this could be a good make or break thing for Sacramento the same way it was for Oklahoma City when they temporarily hosted the Hornets after Katrina. Because by hosting a team they can show if they are a viable city for expansion or not.
As a baseball fan for 45 plus years, I'm excited for this move. Yes I do feel bad for Oakland A's fans ... But I think overall this is going to be great for the franchise in the short term.
Sacramento is not Arlington, TX. 97 degrees without the humidity of a southern city is not the same thing. If Atlanta can play day games in July and August, you can play a day game in Sacramento.
The issue isn’t just the weather, it’s the new field/terf they will be playing on. 100 degrees isn’t great but playing on the turf would feel like you’re playing in 135 degree weather.
For some reason, I'm reminded of the Expos plans for a downtown stadium in the 90s. Labatt Park would have been smack downtown and had a capacity of 30-33k. This was before baseball stadiums started decreasing capacity and 45k was the norm. The politicians wanted the Expos to stay in the Olympic Stadium until it was paid off and wouldn't sign off on any funding. Now, the Labatt Park that a lot of people thought was too small is a model for a lot of the renderings you show on this channel.
I would assume they're going to replace the grass berm with temporary seating that continues down the first base line and wraps around to centerfield. Should be able to bring the capacity to 20k or so if done properly.
Judge won't hit balls into the River. You should also look up the dimentions of Sutter Health Park to Yankee Stadium. SHP has deeper Right and Left fields but has just a shorter Center field compared to Yankee stadium
Let's hope so. Maybe a Kings Maloofs situation where the owner was forced to sell the team. Hopefully Vivek Ranadivé can get some people to buy the team.
That would show how inept Fisher and mlb is as a whole..... A willing owner in Lacob who has a history of turning franchises around and winning chips was passed on so Fisher can crap the bed...... and Vivek can weasel his way into a bad deal? Yikes lol

Add rightfield seating and some seating in LF and get attendance up to early 20s and then stay put. I'd like to see them in Sacramento as the California A's
I predict the A’s will become Sacramento’s property for good. Vegas will get an expansion team as well as Salt Lake City. Nashville will be a relocation site for the Rays or the White Sox.
An upper deck I think could be built and completed in 6 months starting right after the last day of the season. Toronto just did a huge ripping out and gutting of the whole lower bowl in the same time and if you watch the video MLB even agreed to a later home opening date just to help accommodate the team. Look up the teams promo video on how it was done.
Night games on Sundays would start at 7:00 PT, which is 10:00 ET, so the ESPN game would either be over or close to over. I don't think it would be a huge deal.

The photo from 1:06 is old. There are already new condos up and people already living in them. The most viable place to put the new ballpark if it happens is in the railyards
Sutter Health Field works for the Athletics- tho honestly I don't think other teams are envious of the ballpark LOL. The bottom line is that Sacramento represents a good opportunity for the Athletics with the billionaire Kings owners seemingly enthusiastic- and most importantly Sacramento is just a 90 minute drive from Oakland.

Sacramento is a great sports city. The fans support the Kings, the Republics, and the River Cats. The A’s will be bowled over by the fan support. If the River Cats can play in our heat, so can the A’s.
You know who the A's need in Sacramento? Matt Mervis at 1B, Nick Madrigal at 2B, Miles Mastrobuoni as IF, Patrick Widsom at 3B/DH, Yan Gomes at C, Ian Happ in LF/DH, Mike Tauchman in CF, Alexander Canario in RF, Kyle Hendricks at SP, Adbert Alzolay in the pen, and Drew Smyly in the pen. But... As a Cubs fan, I'm biased.
Cubs would left with an outfield of Bellinger, Suzuki, Armstrong, Davis, and Alcantara, and an infield of Morel, Shaw, Swanson, Hoerner, Vasquez, and Busch, and Amaya [and anyone else] behind the plate.
In terms of heat it really seems like playing in Sacramento is just a 3-4 year practice run for what will be much, much worse in Las Vegas. I can't even imagine ever wanting to go to a game in Vegas.

Lol maybe they could finally complete that abandoned construction project on that ballpark by the old Sleep Train Arena 😆 In all seriousness, they should stay in Sac and just expand seating at Sutter Health Park.
There is another big problem as bad as the heat is in the past 4 or 5 years now lots of the country is being hit with smoke. We have to look at the fire and smoke map before even the weather. Older people cant be in the smoke. Sacramento has smoke today and yesterday and tomorrow. The bayarea has less smoke than sacramento. I wonder how many sporting events have smoke related issues?
There are stadiums in the US that are both hot and humid. Sacramento is a dry heat and really is a non factor. People in the Bay Area are spoiled by their cooler temps that aren't a reality elsewhere, especially in the Midwest. I lived in the Bay Area, Pacifica, and Sacramento and you can play in this weather. Look at the River Cats.
Can the OG A’s just be named something else when they go to Vegas, and the A’s just relaunch in Oakland with a new stadium in place of the Oakland Coliseum as an expansion team?
It’s not that bad I go to river cats games and it’s not that bad. Definitely will be playing in the afternoon and this isn’t going to Vegas, it’s going to be sold and end up in Utah.
Attendance has been dropping for many well established teams. Smaller stadiums are a way to increase ticket prices and profits. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has a very large AAA stadium originally built for the Phillies. The Yankees moved their Columbus AAA to this facility. Attendance is still weak. Ownership of the. AAA Phillies moved to Allentown Pa and built a much better smaller, friendlier Coke Cola Park. Attendance is up and the franchise is thriving in the Lehigh Valley. Sacramento has the market and a built in fan base. Why move to Vegas. An expansion franchise makes more sense for Vegas
The guy below completely ignored your question... Yes they will alternate games and it's possible that they will actually play a few games in Oakland Coliseum
Way hotter than Anaheim or SD here in the summer, it’s not uncommon to have 100+ degree days. That said, they already play baseball here and once the sun goes down it cools off pretty quickly.
I dont care what they do to renovate the stadium for mlb, growing up as a Giants and A's fan who also in recent years I've been averaging about 70 to 90 home games between both teams, if the A's arent playing home games at the Coliseum after this season then I'm done. Fuck Sacramento and Las Vegas and that's what's happening, this is the last year I'm a fan of both teams,as soon as the season is up I'm only sticking with the giants,I'll keep my A's gear for novelty but I will NOT support them in Sac or Vegas
Sacramento is more of a baseball town than basketball town. I actually think the A’s are going to do well there. And this is coming from an Oakland native. THAT SAID, a new ballpark in Oakland, full-sized, would be the absolute best option. The baseball doesn’t work in Oakland narrative is absolute garbage.
I think either Las Vegas Nevada or Salt Lake City Utah should deserve the A’s as of Major League Baseball, since Utah might be the fastest growing state between 2020 and 2030, so I have chosen Salt Lake City Utah. Will Salt Lake City get all Big 4 Professional Sports? Las Vegas will do the same thing for getting Big 4 Professional Sports. Salt Lake City already have Utah Jazz for NBA, and for the NHL team from moving from Phoenix Arizona to Salt Lake City Utah starting for 2024-25 NHL season, and seeking for MLB team, and even for NFL team. Las Vegas Does have the NHL team as of Golden Knights, and Las Vegas Raiders for the NFL. Las Vegas is trying to get the MLB, and NBA teams in the near future.

Rob Manfred and Adam silver are tied for worst commissioners in sports
Adam Silver is leagues above Rob Manfred. Go ahead and complain about certain parts of the game, but he's taking the NBA to new heights revenue wise.
They should call themselves the Golden State A”s
Sorry 70’s at night usually
Do the Rivercats just play alternate days? How bad will their attendance be?
I predict the As will stay in Sac town, build a new stadium here, and the Rivercats will relocate to Fresno.
The guy below completely ignored your question... Yes they will alternate games and it's possible that they will actually play a few games in Oakland Coliseum
@@tylerschroeder3722 wow! Thank you for the response
At least, that is a better choice than playing at allegiant stadium.
Sacramento in the summer is nothing compared to the Midwest and the rest of the country with the humidity. Anaheim and San Diego has day games.
Way hotter than Anaheim or SD here in the summer, it’s not uncommon to have 100+ degree days. That said, they already play baseball here and once the sun goes down it cools off pretty quickly.
If the As consistently bring in fans and people in the Sacramento area show interest in the team wouldn't MLB have to consider keeping them there?
Go ahead and build the new stadium Sac. If the A's are there for three years or more they'll be yours to lose.
Once again, it is really not that hot in Sacramento. There’s no need to play night games only. Daytime ball there will be just fine
A's will be at city #4. Vegas will be city #5.
They play day game on Sundays, with no fans, really. It's too hot to watch the game.
Lighting in AAA parks is inferior to MLB standards. Are they addressing that?
Sure are... Fisher is mandating that every fan turns on the cell phone flashlights the entire game
A soon to be MLB stadium that seats 14,000? If Sac sports fans show up in mass, the ticket prices go thru the roof.
There spending millions in Sacramento. Imagine if they had invested in Oakland 🤔
Dude. Sutter not Shutter.
I mentioned this a couple of videos back and he has not caught on.
Why the hell is he saying Shutter?
@@tylerschroeder3722 he’s dyslexic possibly.
Sacto A's!!! Vegas A's!!! Is it just me or is the plot thickening all around??????????
The lack of transparency on what is really going on is very bizarre. btw Bullwinkle was named after a Ford Car Dealership on the Oakland/Berkeley border. Jay Ward owned a Real Estate company in Berkeley in my childhood neighborhood right at the base of the Claremont hotel. Long live Rocky and Bullwinkle. Nothing up my sleeve…presto!
@@rainbowmade1880 Oh wow! I did not know that! Long live Rocky and Bullwinkle!!! Long live the Fractured Fairy Tales!!!
@@bullwinkle2380 yes love Fractured Fairy Tales. His Real Estate company was called JT Ward and was there for many years. There has been a big Safeway at the site of Bullwinkle Ford since can I can remember in the early 60’s but in the 50’s was a car dealership. Btw my UA-cam handle belonged to my daughter when she made Rainbow Looms in Elementary school. I know everyone thinks I’m gay lol. I do support lbgtq but not gay!! Just better than putting a real name out in public.
Lol making players play on artificial turf in the 100+ Sacramento heat
Bad move for baseball to have tiny ones
What? I thought the Athletics were moving to Vegas.
Fisher is a jerk but hes not completely stupid. He and his family are worth more than $7B. Since they cant get an investor at the higher valuation now, they will finance the 1.1B (1.3B with overruns) themselves (might have to sell stuff/move money around), then sell a minority stake at higher Vegas valuation to make a profit
John Fisher is looking for $500M, not an extra $50B :P
The team valuation will jump from 1.2B to 2.0B+ in 3-4 years
Sick stadium? A minor league stadium expanded. 14,000 for an Athletics game? That's 3 times more than actually care for the Oakland?
