It was the Australians who first stopped the Japanese advance at Milne Bay and Kokoda.

The critical descision to attack Midway was dubious. There was an American airfield and army garrison there, but the efforts of supplying the majority of IJN's carriers to attack it was dubious at best. Mainly because the target did not have strong strategic importance (as much as Guadalcanal and New Guinea), and the risk was very high with sending 4 carriers there, despite their previous success at Pearl Harbor, Darwin and Trincomalee. Definitely, Yamamoto over-reached himself in making the Midway decision.

The narrator continues to refers to the Eastern Coast of the U.S.A. when he should say the Western Coast.

@@spikespa5208 Northhampton class. New Orleans class had three large main gunsets forward, the Northhampton class, only two, in order to comply with treaties of the time. As another visual identifier, look at the cluster of scout planes to the rear.

Sorry, we never deciphered JN25, the Harbor was able to think about some of it, but the folks with the problems inserted a meaning. The object of Midway was the American Air Craft Carriers, and some of the most in charge folks forgot, but a few American got real lucky. With the knowledge that we have it took a trick to get a handle on the codes meaning, it was not the same as that which was the case in Europes parks people.

      Incorrect.
The steps to decoding JN25 was a complicated process and by 1942, the operational code was broken with hours of receiving the message. You aren’t giving any credit to the people who worked full time to crack the code.
It was a very complex process, which had small successes until full break.
