PassCode actually started as a pop idol group back in 2013. They had some electronicore inspired songs before 2016 but once one of the members, Nao Minami, showed their manager/song writer/music producer, Koji Hirachi, Babymetal they switched full time to electronicore. He was hesitant to fully switch since the ladies signed on to be pop idols and he wasn't sure if they could still the idol thing doing full on metal. They are also the first domestic Japanese act to gain mainstream attention with a female harsh vocalist. Sadly, the harsh vocalist in this MV, Yuna Imada, retired in 2021 due to anxiety from a reoccurring health condition. She was replaced by Emily Arima who was in the third incarnation of Labybaby.
I love PASSCODE! love Yuna the screamer, she left some year ago, and got replaced. The good thing about Passcode is that they play live with a backup band as Babymetal. They got more popy in most of their songs but always there is a scream section. I dare say that Passcode is the biggest "alternative idol" band in Japan?...maybe. More Passcode! my vote: Flavor of Blue

A Japanese all female band that have been going for over a decade and I've never heard of them? Well, we've all been there before! Shame the video doesn't show their 3 musicians (bass, lead, drums) who are doing a great job but it's still a blast of a song. Reminds me, somewhat oddly, of my Jungle days back in the 90's, with the frenetic energy and fast tempo shifts.

@@TJandTheGringa They have ton of live videos, and at least once a year they will release full live show for a couple of weeks on their channel, and they are always great. In the beginning of the December they had the 2023 Tour Final on their youtube for two weeks, and that was an awesome show. Last year they showed a different concert every week for a month I guess celebrate 10 year anniversary and prepare for their first time US tour (it was only three concerts). They also had to cancel a US tour this year, and they instead did a Japanese tour with the cheeky title Undo Step Tour. In my Spotify end of the year wrap they where between Lovebites and Nemophila, with Babymetal right behind (I mostly watch their live videos on youtube, and not on Spotify))

I guess this is an "old" song now :(. I have always liked it and used it to introduce friends to the band. I still think PASSCODE is pretty unique although many imitators now exist.

They don't quite top Broken By The Scream for me but are still high energy often heavy boppy fun! Plus I like the blend of heavy, EDM and pop. Danceable headbanging. Alternative idol or alt idol. Take the idol format but use very different music. Babymetal and a defunct group BIS were probably the first groups in 2010. Passcode was started in 2013 like Band-Maid. Band-Maid and Passcode did "2 man" concerts together in 2016 & 2019. They were interviewed together too for the 2019 concert.
