One thing I failed to mention, and this was a big oversite on my part, but once you dial in a setting you like from the panel (channel), you can save it to one of the other channels by pressing and holding the channel button on the amp that you want to save it to until it blinks rapidly. That'll save it to that particular channel, but remember, all settings in the panel channel will revert back to physical settings after it saves because it'll change to the channel you just saved it to,. So now if you want to edit that tone, you'll have to edit it from that channel and hold the channel button to save anything you edited.
I just bought the 100 artist last month. It is way more than what I need. Still glad a bought it. I really appreciate your videos on this. They have been very helpful.
I've just bought a Katana 50 EX so this was very helpful - thank you! But one question: whats the difference between the EQ within the Mod section, and the dedicated EQ, are they the same?
The EQ's in the mod section can be placed within the chain before the amp, so it's like having an EQ pedal before the amp (either before or after the boost and not in the FX loop. With the other EQ's you can place them amp in or amp out, which drastically changes the tone. Also, the GE-10 in the mods/fx can only be changed in whole numbers, but the one on the end can be adjusted to .5. I rarely, if ever use the ones in the mod section, but that's just me.
Whatever volume setting is on the panel, whether it is master or amp volume will always revert back to the physical setting that's on the amp. I should have mentioned and I'll make a pinned comment for, once you dial in a tone you like, you can save it to the amp by holding one of the other channel buttons until it blinks rapidly and then it's saved to that channel.
You have to load livesets into the library and then copy the individual patches to the amp channels in Tone Studio. Once you've saved them, you can select the channel with the GA-FC. ua-cam.com/video/VEMI2VnQS9w/v-deo.htmlsi=SOH2x5qwGyP_BZtW
Great video, I have 1 question, I have the mkii 50, I’m using the airstep kat foot switch, and the iOS librarian app. Some how I ended up with one of my patches saved on the “panel” gaf c, in the app. Now when I want to just play the amp using just the panel physical controls, it reverts to that tone and won’t let me just tweak and play if that makes sense. Do you know of a way to remove a tone from that gaf c and have the panel “ stock”?
Normally when you power cycle the amp, the settings on the panel revert back to exactly what they are on the physical amp panel. I'm not sure, but perhaps Katana librarian is applying the last saved settings you saved to the panel. It shouldn't, but maybe that's what it's doing? Are you a member of the Librarian Facebook group? They may be able to answer your question as to why it's doing that. facebook.com/share/NWztcz1ueDdTcHN4/
hey man, i noticed the More Visible Mouse Pointer and the on the fly overlays. Do you use obs to record your screen? I have a high viz mouse on my pc by default but obs turns it into a regular tiny mouse pointer. is this a special program?
@@Guitarnivorethank ya thank ya. great video. it could definitely be great for some to just set up their 5 or 9 patches and never have to look at tone studio again haha
That's my goal with either the 50 or the 100, since I have both now. Get a core set of tones that I can just leave alone and use and then use the other amp for dialing in new tones.
Do the compressors have much difference...Anything come close to the exotic SP compressor? But that has a blend knob so don't know if there's another way to emulate that on the studio.
You usually have two types of compressors, a compressor sustainer and a compressor limiter. I'm not familiar with the Xotic SP, so I'm not sure how that blend works.
So I’m using your Slayer Tone Studio settings. And it’s cool because even when my pc is off, the amp remembers the settings apparently onboard the amp However it remembers every setting except the booster. The booster always turns off unless I manually turn it on in tone studio. Every other setting including reverb saves on, but booster always shuts off. Anyone have a solution? Essentially this is preventing me from taking the pc out of the equation
To be more clear, the booster settings are saved in my preset, but the power icon keeps turning off when I turn off and then back on the amp. And I have not had the power icon issue with any other setting. For every other setting the power icon remembers to be on or be off based on what it was saved as except the booster
Did you write it to one of the A/B channels or to the panel? If you write it to the panel, every time you power cycle the amp, it's going to revert back to the physical settings of the amp.
Another great lesson, thanks. I was wondering, do you use pedals at all with your MkII? I am thinking of building a board, don't have any pedals at the moment, but part of me says FX Floorboard is good enough but the other half says physical pedals would be easier to use for on the fly changes instead of stopping to mess with a computer. So curious, as to what your thoughts would be.
Depends what you want to use. If you get a GA-FC or an air step, you can turn the built in FX on and off. If you want to stack drives or another mod on top of the other two, sure, you can throw pedals in the fx loop. Honestly, I use the built in fx and if I want to turn them on and off, I'll use the GA-FC. Plenty of folks use pedals though. It's just a matter of getting the mix right. I have another video on using the FX loop in the How To tutorial playlist. ua-cam.com/video/xP-7k-ZEPwY/v-deo.htmlsi=hGNi-pUcrOOixmOT
There continues to no one even close to your expertise with the Boss Katana! Would you happen to have a modern country tone (Eric Church/Luke Combs) that you could share with your audience? I'm using an Ibanez S series (HH). Thanks in advance for your consideration!
I appreciate the kind words. Do you have a suggestion of songs from either or both artists that would be a be a good example of their typical sound or what you'd like? I don't listen to much, if any modern country music, so I'm not familiar with them.
@@Guitarnivore Sorry, just got back home from a trip. Yes, I have attached the Luke Combs video for your expertise! Played in standard tuning with capo on 4th fret (C F Am G) on my MKII 50. Thanks in advance!! ua-cam.com/video/Rip8H-yyc7E/v-deo.html

This channel has the best Katana toturials, I've learned so much, thank you!!!
Very good video and very useful. Thank you.

I had the Artist at one time too. Also, way more than I needed, but what a great amp and that Waza speaker sounds amazing!
wowww thanks man, great tutorial 🤘

I'm using OBS, but it's a custom pointer I downloaded from here: www.rw-designer.com/cursor-set/xxl

They all sound different, but they all have the same basic sustain, attack, tone and level controls. There is a limiter as well..
