    "I've done a lot of research like most people do." NOPE - but I'm super glad I found this channel. I'm 13 minutes into this video and I've already spent an hour dialing around the panel - knowing full well I'm going to have to hit one video a night until I have absorbed everything your channel has covered. This is awesome - thankyou for all of your effort.

    After hours of time trying to find answers to a variety of Katana questions, ie, updates, I found your channel. So far, 100% of your instruction has worked flawlessly. Thanks for taking the time to produce such helpful and needed content! You have gained in me a new subscriber!

    I this video I had Tone Studio open for reference to show you what the controls on the physical amp are doing when you press and turn them and to also show you what is available within Tone Studio. You can change the presets effects and save them to the panel button to use later on if you want to dial in something from the panel and do not want to sue the presets.

    Thanks for this. You know, what we probably need is to figure out a way to set up the Katana smartly, in such a way that we only need to visit the Tone Studio maybe once in three months. Maybe the trick is to tweak the eight presets in such a way that, together, they do all we need. So that, when we are playing away from the computer, we just need to switch between the presets? What do you think.

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  Рік тому

      Well, if you find 8 presets that you really like or tweak to your liking then you don't need the computer. There is a mobile option.

    Enjoyed! Yep,BTS really opens the Katana up. Still,it's amazing what you can dial up using only the panel knobs and your guitar's volume knob. Oi!

    I would never complain like some of the others. You do a hell of a good job and know your stuff. For now, though, I just got the amp and am not ready for Tone Studio yet. I am one of those who want to get the most out of the effects and settings just by using the amp. I THOUGHT I had a good grasp of it but now it looks like I was wrong. I set all my tones on 1-4 for both A & B banks but did it straight from each channel not using the panel at all. I know sounds stupid. I read that by doing it that way you are probably incorporating effects that were in the presets rather than doing it from scratch which is what the panel is for. NOW, I am hearing on this video that all the effects are not available in Bank A and not all are available in Bank B so I am really confused. I thought no matter what bank you are in you have access to all effects. Also got confusing when you were showing how for this or that effect all you can do is adjust the speed etc. This makes me feel that all the videos I have watched till now have steered me in the wrong direction because no one mentioned all these limitations when just using the amp regarding effects. I know there is a whole world in Tone Studio but I would think the amp's effects are all available and should be pretty easy to use. Did not know all the shortcomings. I hope I am wrong in what I understood here and hope you can clarify. Thanks!

      So at 6:45 I show a diagram that shows the default fx for each bank and the factory presets only use those. Unfortunately you're at the mercy of the panel defaults (which can be changed in Tone Studio. I have a video for that too). When yo load a patch with other fx, they'll conform to the default of that particular patch. I know, I just made it more confusing. The knobs only adjust a particular parameter of the FX, so as you saw, the boost knob only adjusts the drive, however, that does change a bit with other boost, but you would never really know without seeing it in realtime with tone studio. As states with the panel button, if you're using that to create a tone from the rest of the panel, yes, only bank A fx are available, so if you need to, just switch to a B channel. Unfortunately there is no way to mix and match. Everything is much easier in Tone Studio. If a computer is a problem and you have an android phone or tablet, you can get a USB OTG cable and buy a $10 app called Librarian and edit from there. It works with iPhone too, but you have to buy a blue tooth WiDi adapter and it seems much more complicated.

      @@Guitarnivore Thank you for the prompt response, Scott. That clears it up some but not going to lie, it is still confusing. I have used it with my saved sets for two shows already and we have one tomorrow. My saving grace is I am a singer who plays Rhythm and Keyboards as well so my needs and skills are nowhere near what you have so it sounded great. I still like to get more out of it and thought I could with just the amp settings. I figure I can still get more than enough for what I need. My lead guitarist is an IT guy and said he would be glad to figure out the Tone Studio one day. The scary thing ?? I work for an IT Staffing company! LOl I can run our PA but when it comes to that stuff I need help. The amp itself. like I said I thought it was a piece of cake, much like a Blackstar ID Core 150 I have, but it seems that for these limitations for Bank A & B, I will have to rewatch your video to better understand. I subscribed FYI. Thanks again

    Having an acoustic background, I'm learning a lot regarding amps, electric, etc, from great sites such as yours. One aspect that is still foreign has to do with how the software (tone studio) and amp connect or interface with the computer? In other words, how is everything connected from the guitar on? If you have a tutorial regarding interfaces, let me know, much thanks again.

      As explained within the first 10 seconds, I only have tone studio open for reference, showing you what the panel knobs are controlling within that particular boost/mod/fx is controlling and what the default factory settings are. That way you know exactly which parameter of the effects that the knob is controlling within the software within the amp. If you watch me turn the knob on the panel, you'll see it also controls the settings in tone studio. I wasn't actually touching tone studio. The only time I really did anything in Tone Studio was when I showed what other FX/Mod options are available within tone studio. Ultimately, tone studio is the graphic interface for the software within the amp.
