    Being a firefighter this one of those things you hear and think "OH FUCK! shit just got real!"

      Might help if one of the 60 guys standing around would splash a few drops of water on the fire. I'd be pissed if that was my house

    The pass alert going off is what makes me cry every time I hear it

      Why? It just means that an scba isn't moving. Doesn't mean someone is hurt

      @Andrew Koehler that can bring up ptsd bc if your inside and you hear the pass alarm that's usually not a good sound to hear

      @zombie-eo1yl I recently saw a ff snap his head around at the tone of one those alarms going off, and the best part was we were at a car accident. So you nailed the head on that one

    Have to say those were the strangest evac tones I’ve ever heard. More like they were stuck in traffic. Long blasts, I only heard one truck giving those.

  • @stuby2014

    This department needs to take an 8 hour course on how to sound evac tones with an air horn. I say 8 hours because if you don't know the universal way it's done then it will take them a long time to understand it's ONLY 3- 2 second blasts in a row followed by a 3 second break and repeat as many times as fell it's needed.

    "evacuate the building" *personal alarms are going off and then the trucks start blasting off* I am a civilian. But hearing those words with those sounds ... Scares the crap out of me because I nearly lost a pair of firefighter friends. One of them got stuck and declared mayday.... The other ran back in and barely got him out before structure collapse..
    Firefighters I salute you and applaud your absolute Insanity to be more than willing to run into a burning building. Not just to try to save the structure. Not just to try and find a person.... But to know that the structure is about to fail and one of your own is in danger 🙏 and without a moment's hesitation somebody is dumb enough to run back in and save them.

      Most of the time those things are faulty, they're supposed to go off when you're not moving for a certain amount of time but most of the time they just go off anyway, moving or not.

      @@Transit_Angst Manufacturing Error virtually nothing you can do about it, im not firefighter but i do work in armed security in Las Vegas and i have been around a few fighters, I've always been curious as well so i asked a few different times as far as my knowledge goes very few of them actually work as intended whether it be because they aren't sensitive enough or they're just outright broken. Its is indeed an issue. I feel however tho most fighters are probably tuned in enough to know when their buddy hasn't moved in a while, should be staying in pairs.

      @@Apollo55_ I've been a firefighter for about 10 years. I've never had a faulty PASS device from the factory, but if we did, we'd surely send it back to get fixed. There was a case study we went over in fire academy about a firefighter that went down just feet inside a building and died because nobody paid attention to the PASS device. Yes, you should be aware, but it doesn't always happen and you want to make sure your gear has your back.

      @@Transit_Angst Must be a damn good department to work for, actually looking out for their assets. Cant say the same about us out here! When it came to my career for armed security (i work for a fairly large company) they made me purchase all of my gear for myself which was a little off putting at first but i love my partner and i love my company, at least I know i can trust the gear i purchased for myself.

    That alarm sound is one that firefighters carry with them and it goes off when they pass away due to fire. It’s called a pass alarm.

    • @itisjambo
      @itisjambo Рік тому +10

      That is only partially true. It is called a PASS alarm, where PASS stands for "personal alert safety system." It does not mean a firefighter has died in a fire. It goes off automatically when they have not moved enough for a period of time, or it can be activated manually.
