Well, congrats to you, hope everything goes okay. Do consider my comment on the other clip of this build. I think you could then do more in terms of the detailing of the gate. But do make the gate towers, have mirrored buildings on them, can always put that smaller one, you currently have on the right gate tower, on the beam between both towers, straight in the middle, after adding a level of construction to it. Some of the 40K weapons, look a bit big & out of place. They need murder holes, to be honest. Like at the gate. Be more creative with those gate & wall pieces. Bottom to bottom, lets you build upside-down. Great for say spires and so on. One suggestion, have you considered a raised highway, like you can see in Fallout? That Castle must be supplied, somehow, right? When will Games Workshop challenge you to create a few Custodian Units? You would need quite a few of the smaller units, just to properly decorate the bigger units, like the tanks. Sicaran tank with a backwards Land-Raider trailer, with a connecting corridor between them. Fusion powered? Baneblade chassis, terrain fusion reactor pieces, finally the proper engine for the Custodians, they have the best of the best, that's not standaard. Yes, they have the best, and combustion engines are not the best, that's fusion power. How else will they drive their stuff on say a airless moon? With both, you need at least two Custodian hoverbikes for their curved eagles for above the forwards track cover & headlights, setup. And properly the slightly bigger one as well. It's not just gold, that they paint their stuff, in. It's also having the best of the best, with all of the options, possible, selected. So I hope they will challenge you to create Epic Custodian Transports, by kitbashing.
Just imagine doing this Not in Epic but in 40K 😮 Nice thing about Epic is you can have Titans walking around not too mention multiple types of aircraft flying around which makes for an extremely dynamic Environment in your build 😅
"You guys must be bord of watching me cut foam..." No! The foam builds you do are honestly my favorite part! Especially on this build, they're so much more approachable than even imagining buying so many GW terrain sets. Every hobby creator I've watched works with foam a bit differently, too, so it's always a part of the video where I get to learn something new, or at least be reminded of a different approach to things. So yeah, it's the part of the video I could see myself doing (albeit at a smaller scale lol) and it's a chance to absorb different techniques and approaches to foam terrain projects.
Those plastic things are pretty cool and there is so much to choose from but foam you can do more with it just takes more skill and time, its much cheaper to.@@mazikainen
The palace diorama is crazy amazing but I think it's lackluster in one area : bridges. Bridges are the pinacle of gothic architecture and as is, they seem to just hover around. I hope you'll go all in crazy with multi level bridges and crazy supports and pilars ! Love your work
Thank you so much Chrissy! Yeah it's really starting to have a bit of shape now, I think once I get the next section of wall done and the upper levels behind that we'll really start to properly feel the scope of the landscape. I've got all thes elittle silly ideas now for tunnels and undercity areas you have to literally crawl under the table to get to hahaha. Thanks for your ongoing support mate, it means the world. I always say 'patreons' in videos because in my mind that includes the channel members too, but forget to call you guys out directly silly Lachie brain.
You could color code the gates down in the trench with buildings behind the wall (green gate = green building and so on) so you units have more movement options on the battlefield
Great work, it's coming along beautifully. Also, congrats! Super proud to have watched you and this channel grow over the years, I'm sure your third is being welcomed into a beautiful family.
I will be interested to see how you can alter the baneblade turrets to give that sense of scale. Perhaps little bunkers and emplacements built onto the turrets themselves? Like little AA batteries etc. Good luck with your third child, I hope everything goes well.
You should try putting some pipes in spanning the chasm at different levels to represent things like prometheum/plasma/sewage/etc. lines going to and from the palace. Might also be worth pinching some of the gates from Legions Imperialis terrain to detail the walls and main gate more by adding sally ports so that smaller units like tanks of infantry formations can sally forth without the risk of letting in the whole heretic army.
Function is important in these large scale dioramas/gaming boards. Make sure the bridge gaps are large enough to fit a person. Will help for any last minute changes or cleaning dust in the future without dismantling or moving half a city. If it is meant to be a diorama with Legion Imperialis models set up, some jump pack units trying to jump the gap would be cool to see.
Long term when it goes on display it'll get riged for diorama, but for now we'll keep it super playable so it can be used for 30k, Dawn of War Warhammer and 30k Epic :)
I think watching evaneglion would be a good reference for this. The scale of the Nerv HQ is mind crazy especially the emplacement weapons. The base is built in a giant chasm under a city so when it’s not safe all the buildings retract down to not be damaged and skyscraper sized barricades go up. Nerv also uses extensive rail lines to move materials and I think they would create some great space for tanks or titans to move through

I think that to capture the IMMENSE scale of the Imperial Palace and the buildings of Terra you could look into mixing in 28mm scale buildings with the new 8mm Epic scale ones kitbashed for detailing! I think that would really help bring out the insane larger-than-life grandeur of the Imperium without having to resort to blank foam stonework or stacking a zillion Imperialis tiles for the biggest structures. WOW, just wow... you must think the cutting of foam and setting up the board structure can be boring but i could watch this for hours, you make it seem so fast and easy but between every cut in the video there must be so many hours of work in this, the measuring, stone work, planning, try and error, cutting and glueing... i always feel pumped to do my own hobby projects (especielly scenery stuff, but you make me want to play legions imperialis too...) every time i watch, you just bring this relentless energy (i do hope you find a bit of a breather in beetween for real life though). Also the "im old gandalf" got me good :D oh and congrats on the growing family! I cant wait to see the first tanks roll over that awesome bridge!
Congratulations! Praying everyone is safe and healthy. What you do is not easy, but it inspires me to build and experiment. Thank you for sharing your journey with the broader world.
Hey, loving the videos! Been following since pre-2019 and loved the development! I am sorry to hear things are tough this year with following etc. I’ll be real honest, as someone who loves the channel, I can say that it has been frustrating to see so many epic projects start but none move forward to near completion. Can see why attention for people could get lost. That said, I am here for the long haul! Just want to see you succeed man, and not spin to many epic projects at once! Loves! 🙌🏼
Congrats on the baby! Board is looking way more interesting than previously. I'm looking forward to seeing how the city part pans out -- I can't fathom working at that scale (both in terms of board-size and miniature scale). Hopefully it won't feel to flat in the end.
Amazing as always! I like how the solution to having a creative block on building a horizontal board was to build two vertical boards haha . Now you’re thinking with port(cullises)als!!
I don't know how, I liked your earlier version but this is on a different level (and considering we are talking about you, that says a lot) so good work man and congrats to your growing family. Happy for you :)
this coming together so nicely, its amazing to follow you on that journey! One thing I liked the most were the DIAGONAL bridges in the chasm below the gate bridge...maybe you should apply that to some city blocks...some diagonal houses would really break up that blocky, chess-boardy symmetry and make it a bit more organic
Congratulations on the baby Lachie! The board is looking fantastic. Can't wait to see what monstrous things you have in store once the little one is settled in.
Applying commenting protocols to soothe the machine spirit of the holy algorithm! In another note, the battle of Stalingrad, the largest battle in human history, was fought in 3D with the sewers being fought over. In fact they changed hands many times, sometimes multiple times in a day, so having some pipes to be a secret path would be a cool idea with just a little room for units to battle each other in and fight for this other path
My patreon dollars well spent! Even if I don't have the time and resources to do a massive sick build like this, I can live vicariously through your videos. Congrats on the new kid!
No, Zorp, I am not bored of watching you cut foam. I don't understand the creative depths and madman perseverance you have to make these gigantic projects come to life. Not only turning out good, but like... *Incredible*. @@Zorpazorp we just had a baby girl a month ago too. She’s proving to be much easier than her older brother was so I think you have done well with 3 girls. I hope you guys survive the sleep deprivation!
Great video mate!! Really loved the classic big build, and could see your excitement coming through. Less rambling intro was good too, i appreciated the brevity
Congratulations and i hope everything goes well! I reckon this is looking way better than the previous city tiles
Yeah we're starting to get somewhere now!! thank you mate :)
Also the "im old gandalf" got me good :D
oh and congrats on the growing family!
I cant wait to see the first tanks roll over that awesome bridge!
This build is amazing and can’t wait to see it finished. Good luck to both of you with your third child❤️❤️
Watching this beginning to come together makes my cold hobby heart all warm and fuzzy.
What an incredible cliffhanger! Congrats on your baby, and looking forward to your return!
Congratulations! Praying everyone is safe and healthy. What you do is not easy, but it inspires me to build and experiment. Thank you for sharing your journey with the broader world.
Thank you so much mate, glad you're enjoying it all :)
Loves! 🙌🏼
Amazing! I’ve got a sore neck from nodding in agreement. Love the energy from you guys.
Congratulations for another of your offspring has joined the Zorpazorp ranks of Mega-Build builders
Congrats on the new arrival! The build is looking really great!
Thank you James!! Yeah I'm really happy with the this phase, can't wait for next big chunk to go in!
I was doubting the project in the first video, but now I'm sold!
Most heartwarming endings ever.
I cant wait to see pics of the new one
Congrats on the baby! Board is looking way more interesting than previously. I'm looking forward to seeing how the city part pans out -- I can't fathom working at that scale (both in terms of board-size and miniature scale). Hopefully it won't feel to flat in the end.
Those chasm walkways are inspired. Such an amazing feature to get the scale!
Amazing as always! I like how the solution to having a creative block on building a horizontal board was to build two vertical boards haha . Now you’re thinking with port(cullises)als!!
Also omg the ending - good luck!!
Congrats to you and the family. Look forward to seeing more builds in 2024!
Thank you Owain!!
How you envision and then bring this all to life will never cease to amaze me.
Haha thank you mate, mostly it's just trusting the process. Even if I can't see the future end goal, I'll find it as I go along :)
I don't know how, I liked your earlier version but this is on a different level (and considering we are talking about you, that says a lot) so good work man and congrats to your growing family. Happy for you :)
Good luck with the baby, and know that your projects inspire me at every level!
Congratulations on the new member of the Zorpazorp family! 🎉
Got my first kid ready to pop any day now so solidarity! Hope everything goes well, looking forward to more amazing builds when you can!
woooooooh Good luck with your bub mate! Ours is doing really well :)
this coming together so nicely, its amazing to follow you on that journey!
One thing I liked the most were the DIAGONAL bridges in the chasm below the gate bridge...maybe you should apply that to some city blocks...some diagonal houses would really break up that blocky, chess-boardy symmetry and make it a bit more organic
Good luck and congrats with the new addition, Lochy!
Thank you mate! Bub is doing really well!
@@Zorpazorp That's excellent to hear!!!
Congrats on the new addition mate. Can't wait to have a game on this at Zorpfest next year
What a cool project. Best of luck with it and of course with the baby!
Amazing project-love watching this man cook!
Cooking up a STORM!
Congratulations on the baby Lachie! The board is looking fantastic. Can't wait to see what monstrous things you have in store once the little one is settled in.
Thank you for this project! It gives me so many great ideas.
Also, best wishes to your family!!
Gotta comment! Gotta keep you building
Keep it up bud, we're all rooting for you! And congratulations about the wean!
The layout is looking a lot better now. Good work!
Oh I had forgotten about the sewers of Stalingrad!!! I've actually made a sewer board before it would be great fun to revist that landscape haha
My patreon dollars well spent! Even if I don't have the time and resources to do a massive sick build like this, I can live vicariously through your videos. Congrats on the new kid!
you are an absolute legend Matty, thank you so much mate, so so much
Omg! You could totally do that infinity effect with mirrors at the bottom of the pit, make it look like it goes on FOREVER
I don’t think I could ever get bored of you cutting foam lmao
No, Zorp, I am not bored of watching you cut foam. I don't understand the creative depths and madman perseverance you have to make these gigantic projects come to life. Not only turning out good, but like... *Incredible*.
I know you're already going insane with the scale of this and the details, but gothic architecture/cathedrals etc need flying buttresses and massive arches under the bridges for that *chef's kiss*. Love you work, wish you had more subs for the nutso stuff you do.
Also, what do you do for a living? Is this is?
Amazing work on all fronts... Scenery and family building... And congrats
Wake up babe, new imperial palace video just dropped
I'm happy you really do take into consideration what people have to say! Good luck Z!
Good luck buddy, all the best to you and the fam!!!🎉🎉🎉
