Nice! I think I'll give the Podmic a shot. It blends in with the rest of the "studio" a bit better than the white tube. Especially for the price, it's worth a try! The time has finally come to say goodbye to the Podcaster. Great video!!
Visually it looks better. Managing the PodMic is easier with the built-on shock-mount. If you're umming and eering over the Podcaster or PodMic, go with the later.
Dunno if anyone cares but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend lately :)
@@onzkicg My brain _still_ keeps filing the Podcaster and Procaster as the same mic🤦♂️ (But mainly, I just wanted to wish you all the best with your singing 🙏👍)
You answered so many questions that I had about the podmic. I decided to get the podcaster since that seems to be a bit more fitting for my filming environment and intended set up. Thank you so much!
I bought the podcaster after going through reflection hell with an AT2020. While a condenser is great for voice. it was not optimal for the environment i record VO's. Dynamic is bae lol
Very good crack!!!!. I have the Shure SM7B and the Rode PROCASTER at home. And I'm trying them out and I like how they both sound and I have serious doubts which one to stay with.... Any advice? Greetings and thanks.
Worth noting. The podcaster really doesn’t work nowadays if you run on windows 10 and above. Lots of issues with the ride drivers not being compatible with windows 11 and lots of reports from windows 10
Just replying to confirm it. I've had the Rode Podcaster USC for like 5-7 years, AND I bought it on ebay. It's been a great microphone, but Windows 11 is not taking a liking to it, sometimes I have troubles but most days it's okay.
That's a good question! Theoretically I'm sure you could, we have never tried. But you would probably lose some of the audio quality from running straight into a MacBook air instead of an audio interface
I run Podcaster and Procaster this comparison is kind of bad though. USB vs XLR is like comparing a bike to a car. Of course the XLR will sound better, but you cant connect the podmic on the go to an iPad without additional heavy and expensive hardware.
I have the podmic with rodecaster pro, and yes this mic is a brick ( literally ) it could break dry walls and stuff :D btw I love this mic best budget xlr dynamic mic I think.
Personally, I love a mic with a bit of weight behind it, but the PodMic is that heavy it could be used as a doorstop or for weight training at the gym! Check out how it compares against cheaper alternatives: www.podcast.co/create/best-budget-podcast-setup
Hey there. Yes looks like the Solo and the 2i2 have all the same features (preamp, software etc). The only difference is the Solo features a single mic input and second input for instruments, while the 2i2 has inputs to let you record with 2 microphones simultaneously.
ive never used and xlr mic and i cant decide weather to go for the podmic or the podcaster and is there a big difference between the two since im mainly going to be using it for recording and streaming
Unfortunately not. Like most studio quality microphones, the PodMic is power hungry, so needs enough voltage to function correctly. A USB connection just wouldn't do, so you need to use an audio interface or mixer to crank up the juice. Hope this helps and be sure to subscribe, share, and all that good stuff.
That's an interesting point. Maybe we should release a video comparing lots of different microphones across a variety of vocal ranges, to help find the right one for you!
Podmic - best solution for 100$: premium looks, nice quality, softness sound. Love it with Rodecaster pro. And yea, Podcaster looks old and non-modern. -_-
You'll need and to connect them to an interface (we recommend the Scarlett 2i2), then assuming your iPad pro has a usb-c input, you'll need a usb to usb-c connector.
@@Podcastco Too expensive that's an extra $159 plus the extra cable. Got anything cheaper like a Behringer? Also what do you think of the Rode Podmic vs. something like a Shure SM48 if I do use an interface? The other option is to use a Samson 2qu directly to usb dongle?
@@guitarlearningtoplay the iTrack Solo would be a very good option. You can connect your XLR microphones to the iTrack and the iTrack to you iPad, as you noted there's a lightning cable included in the box.
Hi Phil. i just wanted to ask if this kind of cable be good for the pod mic? a pre-amp xlr-3.5mm dynamic mic cable www.boya-mic.com/otheraccessories/887.html & connect it to my V8 SOUND CARD(like an audio interface used for budget condenser mics like BM800) which is popular here in the philippines which has a dynamic mic input.... i would really aprc8 an answer.... thanks Phil :)
i just wanted ssurance of from u who is more technical than me haha.... bec after hours of googling, it did say that the podmic doesnt require phantom power since its considered a dynamic XLR microphone unlike the condenser mics. so im thinking that the cable w/ the link i sent should work either from the podmic or podcaster. hope u can help me. ive always been a fan of ur videos.
Hi there, you're correct, the podmic doesn't require phantom power. I'm not familiar with either the V8 SOUND CARD or BOYA BY-BCA6 XLR cable so can't say for sure. Theoretically it should work, the cable has an XLR and a AUX to connect the podmic to the sound card but again I haven't seen this combination so cannot advise on how this will perform. Our tried and tested combination is the podmic and the scarlet 2i2. Hope this helps.
To all Rode Podcaster user- please be careful when cleaning the body. I used that common antibacterial wipes and those black markings got smudged! Honestly I was disappointed that a quality name like Rode used a cheap way to imprint the markings.. if you look closely, It resemble those dry ink transfers if you remember back in the day.. those thingy that you scratch and get transferred to paper- they used something like that. I expected markings to be coated by clear gloss to protect it further from cleaning material. Anyways just airing my disappointments. I actually plan to resell it that’s why I’m cleaning 😂 now the price I have to offer discount because of that smudge! I own guitar pedals and other gadgets with text markings- I wipe to clean them, anything from tissue to alcohol wipes and markings stay the same.. they have good coating.

The sound of both mic's is this straight out from your pc or do you need to work 1 hour on an audio editor to have that good sound ?

Hey, there isn't much between the two and both our solid, quality mics. My personal opinion - go for the podmic.
Both super thin sounding. I do have 2 of the PodMics coming shortly.
You'll have to let us know how you find them when they arrive.
What are you running to power the podmic?
@@ProjectLabz We use a Scarlett 2i2
@@Podcastco No cloud lifter or seperate pre amps?
@@ProjectLabz Nope just the 2i2, some people do prefer to add a cloud lifter but we have never needed it.
Is it possible for zero-latency monitoring while speaking in PodMic ? It is possible through audio interface ?
Unless you have a really strong pre amp get an SE Dynamite to boost levels but its easily the best mic in that price and even slightly above!
Rode Pop mic?
The internal pop filter isn't the best, but it's better windshield.
This is one of the few mics that I really dislike the color white on the microphone
With the Podmic could you get an XLR cable that converts to USB instead of an audio interface or will that reduce the sound quality?
