    I have been living in Rome, Italy for 50 years. I'm English and 75 my husband is 80. We have been shut down for over a week which means going to the supermarket twice a week , queuing up because only a few people at a time can get in. The only other place left open is the chemist. But in a way we are lucky because the real tragedy is in the north of Italy, Lombardia especially. There the death count every day is horrifying, and you see army trucks taking the dead out of the region because there is no more space in the cemeteries. Doctors and nurses are dying as well so they are creating new hospitals very quickly but they don't have the medical staff to open them. This is a real nightmare. Rome feels a ghost town with hardly anyone on the streets. So do everyone take care.

      #Vicky. That was a very poignant reply and woke me up here in rural Suffolk, England where, surrounded by trees and fields, with local amenities mostly open with most (not all) food available in the shops, the gym still open - including the steam room - it all seems distant. I remember watching the news about the distant Vietnam war when I was young: It all seemed so far away. I am a warden of our local C11 church where we get two burials a year at most. I suspect things may change.

    So this time last week I had arrived in Thailand and was prepping to go to Vietnam to teach, my school contacted me and said all Foreign work visas would be revoked- even if they had previously been issued. I was going to be put on an indefinite hold. My goal was then to try and ride it out in Thailand, maybe get placed at a new school there (I had been based there teaching for the 2018-2019 school year) but there was no guarantee and one of my work colleagues and a few former students said there were rumors they'd be closing the schools in Thailand. Also there was huge exposure in Bangkok after 11 people who were infected went out to a bunch of bars and restaurants. I was basically stuck in my hotel under self-quarantine and just out of fear that hotels might be shut down and I'd be stuck I booked a flight back to the states. I left on Tuesday, got back yesterday and almost immediately after I landed in Orlando from Dubai I got a message saying that yes Thailand had put massive restrictions/shut down Restaurants, Bars and Hotels. I'm now self-quarantined until March 31st. Glad you guys made the right call and are taking precautions/staying healthy

    I'm from New Brunswick, Canada. A lot of people have been working from home for the last week or so. A couple days ago, our premier, Blaine Higgs, suddenly declared a state of emergency. While the move made sense (for example, a lot of people weren't keeping a distance of two metres between themselves and others), the suddenness, which is typical of him, didn't. He also initially said that pet supply stores and food banks had to close, a decision that thankfully was reversed.
    On the federal level, Prime Minister Trudeau has been doing an excellent job helping people cope. His wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, has coronavirus, but the PM doesn't, so he's also being a single dad of three kids while leading a country during a difficult time, so massive props to him.

    That’s probably why NY has so many cases, one of the airports that was funneling all the people returning to the US. On top of that there was no screening because they must have been overwhelmed.

    • @kenc2707

      ZJFilms One good thing is that they are flying through Moscow and they are testing everyone’s temperature on arrival. So that is going to be a good assessment till they get home.

    • @amc3
      @amc3 4 роки тому

      International arrivals to JFK are down by 70%, they would have the space, staff and facilities to do testing, results take only 3 hours. But they dont have screening kits to do it. Taking a temperature is futile, you can be infected and still have a normal temperature.
      Its really frightening, the numbers will just double every day, by May possibly 5 million infected and 250,00 dead in the US.
      Italy are having 1,000 dead every day!

Our schools and colleges had stayed open, but they are now all closing tomorrow (Friday) until further notice. Supermarkets crazy here, no toilet paper on the shelves, people stockpiling all sorts of stuff. My cat is the only one not panicking lol, she is carrying on as normal and refuses to contemplate any kind of 'lockdown'! Stay safe you guys, will miss your videos. But you could post the odd quick one from wherever you are self-isolating from, might keep your revenue up and you know we will all watch it. Take care everyone, wherever you are. 💖

My flight was in the beginning of April. Finland has closed its borders yesterday and Turkish Airlines canceled the flights. It was a very hard decision to make, I mean staying here or going back to Turkey with the first available flight until the situation calms down. But at the end, my parents are also over 60 and I did not wanna risk it.

She was told she needed to come home. She took a 15 hour flight into JFK. No screening, super quick just like you guys. But she had to wait 8 hours for her next flight home to Buffalo. Because of that, we are both now in self quarantine for 14 days. We'll see what happens! :)

    Hi guys, glad you got back to the US ok. I’m currently living in Scotland, and because of the virus, all public gatherings are now banned which has meant that most public places have had to close down. We’re not on lockdown like Italy is, but we could be heading that way very soon. I myself travelled to the states last year to work at a summer camp, then travelled to a few more places like New York, Nashville, New Orleans and San Francisco for a couple of weeks and I am so happy I done it then as this year, you literally can’t go anywhere so far. I’m also baffled that getting back into the states was that straightforward as everywhere has been so stringent about hygiene haha. So glad you guys are home safe, take care ❤️

    Hi. I'm glad you're safe back in the US. I'm also very surprised that there were no health checks. Seems like the US is playing with fire while Europe is mostly on lockdown and America is so lax with health concerns. You'd think the border is thd main line of defence. Stay safe.

    So glad you guys made it back to the states. We are indeed in this together. My story is this: I’m 67, and I work in a pharmacy. Every day, sometimes several times a day, I have to re-evaluate what I’m doing by working, weigh the risks and so on. My age puts me at risk, and my husband is 70, so I am putting him at greater risk. We have also had to cancel a trip we’ve talked about doing for 40 years: a cross-country road trip. We decided to finally do it, and I have two months of leave from work, and now we’re now going. Is it a bummer? Of course it is. But everyone is going to suffer in one way or another; at this point I just pray to stay healthy. You guys take care.

Left London back home to the United States four days later...cutting my trip short by three weeks. Timing-wise it was the right time to leave, best to be home. We are 2 out of maybe over 100 Americans who got stranded here after Guatemala rapidly closed land borders and shut down the one international airport in the country. I have been off of work since yesterday and I am very fortunate to be able to work from home for the next few weeks. Right now I am just kicking it staying in and working on all those home projects I keep putting off. I am a former mormon that still practices their food/necessities storage. So when this thing hit, I already had everything I needed. I did go out and buy some more beer and asian noodles. But I am fortunate to be adequately stocked and my secluded home location is one of the best places to be right now. My pets are in heaven. They get twice a day walks and so much attention. I don't bring them in usually, but I have them inside with me to keep me company and just have another living entity around as I am all set to hunker down and don't plan on leaving my home anytime soon.
