Im a product specialist for Audi. The spoiler is there to reduce the drag coefficient front .28 to .27. It helps squeeze out an additional 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) of range. Also, the sportback has 15l more trunk space than the square back with the seats up. Don't know how they did that though.
I don't agree. I think the sportback looks better. But you have to see them in real life and not in a video that never really gives a good long view with normal lightening. It looks way more aggressive and sporty. I opted for the Sportback mostly because it could be delivered much quicker than the regular version here in Belgium. But I guess that that advantage will change over time.
I hate the front end, but I really like the side view for the Squareback. It has a nice rear too.

The grille tells that this is Audi such as a star in Mercedes.
They put a spoiler there for a reason, it’s needed for stability at autobahn speeds. The original Audi TT was this shape and didn’t have one, and it had issues. The opening is also needed to see out the back. I’m sure in a fictional world design would be based purely on looks but this is a real car for real life.
Nah, it's proabably just for Aero reasons, just like in the A2.
Not buying that one. This car would have been stable without it at the limited 112 it can go. This is strictly design element. There is a million other ways to get downforce if you need it and this is a heavy vehicle to start with.
Autobahn speeds? This car is capped at 160kmh 👀

I disagree about the spoiler. It needs to be there because it makes the silhouette less clunky. Otherwise the whole front of the car seems too fat. Remove it and it doesn't look like an Audi - it would look like a fat porsche. Its not a growth. Nothing is done for no reason.
Personally love the spoiler; didn’t like your ‘solutions’ to it either. Good review though 😊
Agree with your thoughts regarding the exterior, would have been nice to hear your comments regarding the interior which I think is a bit too busy.

Good video, 100% agree that the regular looks much better, ordered the regular S-line quattro model, can't wait. I also agree that the "spoiler" at the back of the sportback looks weird, however you would think that the Audi designers has calculated air resistance very carefully and added this piece to increase range, otherwise it just makes no sense at all. But I'm not an aerodynamics engineer, but it just makes sense that they added it for a reason. Good video in any case

The problem is that not one of these so called sportback, coupe back SUVs is that not one of them is desirable with the worst offenders being the pioneers, X6 and GLE coupe!

@@Bembli We have an SUV, and I still prefer driving my Hyundai Elantra. I still can't get used to the top heavy, body rolling feeling of being in an SUV.
Love the regular shape. First, why lose the headroom? Second, these are not "sporty", same issue for all the alleged "sport" SUV's, except maybe the Cayenne, which the slopped roof shape seems to fit very well and doesn't just look like a giant bloated turtle like the MB and BMW offerings, especially GLE. Third, in this vehicle, it makes it look, from the side, like the older generation "sport" 4 door escorts. This vehicle in the Q4 50 all wheel drive loaded is going to be near 60 before incentives. Expensive, but a winner for the urban jungle.

It’s all subjective isn’t it? I preferred the look of the Sportback and therefore ordered that version. Personally I prefer the styling and the slightly bigger boot over the square back. There is a reason there is a choice of two styles.

I think the grill is way to big. What I like is that it doesn`t look as much as a van as the Enyaq does. Ant the copper wheels are super. Audi stole that idear from Cupra

I like the squareback and the chunky look. In fact so much Ive sold my Q5 and bought one. How many armchair experts here have bought what THEY think is a good looking car !
Coupé SUVs look so weird to me. Just like a Sedan on steroids but in a negative way. Or like a real life grown toy car with way to big wheels.
The Sportback Concept looked realy nice but the production model is a bit off
This was hugely disappointing, was so looking forward to the concept going to production. The Volvo C40 actually looks closer to a concept to production than the Audi it self

In Europe it's way cheaper than the Mach-e and even the cheapest Model 3. The ID.3, ID.4, Skoda Enyaq and Audi Q4 will dominate the European market in this price range.
I, myself, will probably go for a Tesla, but the others speak directly to the masses' hearts, and Tesla will face a hard time "over here", if they don't step up on quality and a better suspension, and a way more silent cabin (which makes the overall ride feels a lot more luxurious - and that we like).
I really don’t think Tesla’s build and ride quality is bad. A lot better than for example some VWs I’ve driven in the same price range.
Yep, I agree. I hesitated for a model Y, but it was more expensive and the build quality is a bit a gamble. What is really important to me is to have a decent dashboard with a HUD. I got used to one in my X1 and I can't go back, certainly not to a car where everything is shown in the middle. Ergonomics are really important when driving and audi is really good (although those capacitive buttons on the steering wheel are a bad choice)

Or is it the fact that they produce a regular version and a "cioupei" with a spoiler that if u had basic knowledge of physics in that position improves the drag coefficient of the "cioupei". I wasted 11:29 of my time for b.s. Bar none.

People love the sleeker look and the higher rideof a coupe SUV. And as long as people want them, auto makers are going to continue making them. Every video you make about coupe styled vehicles says the same thing. We get it, you don't like it.

I test drived the (coupé) sportback q4 and trust me, it looks way better in reality than in 2D picture/photoshop. It’s more massive and muscular. Ordered it full options
The problem with the Q4 Etron is it's name. The Q names should have stayed with their ICE vehicles. The EVs should have been given their own unique Etron name, never involving the Q or A names.
With the entrance of the Q8, I thought that the even number Q names will be the coupe versions. The Q8 is essentially a Q7 coupe (or Sportback). The Q3 and Q5 are getting Sportback versions, but they aren't following in the Q8 footsteps to be named Q4 and Q6 (which would have been much better!). Nope, they get Q3 Sportback and Q5 Sportback names. So, should the Q8 be renamed the Q7 Sportback?
Now, back to this vehicle. The name Q4 should denote a Sportback from the start. But no, this isn't. However, it does get it's own Sportback version, adding to the confusion. 🤦♂️
Ultimately, there is zero cohesiveness to their naming structure anymore.
I 1000% agree with you. The name really makes me mad. Especially since there is already a car just called the etron. I was thinking that maybe it would make sense if they release a q6 etron but then what are they going to do about the sedans? They really should have chosen a letter for the etrons like maybe E lol. Your right, this car literally ruins their entire lineup with just its name.

I love the interior, the more classic tone to it than in the VW ID 4, that looks like a futuristic car seen in Epcot Center in the ‘90... even though it shows a classical side, it still appears very technology oriented. I’m still not sure which one I prefer between the more squarish vs coupé. They both look very appealing to me. I love your mischievous cats by the way 🐱

Total agreement, that's exactly how I see it! But the majority of Audi drivers around me want to order the Sportback. This is the in-form language here at the moment, here in Germany. I even think that aerodynamics are by no means the reason to buy, more because the SUVs are reacting more and more negatively, especially in cities - although the Sportback is not a bit smaller! ;-)

The true problem with the Q4 e-Tron is that it feels just as cheap as an ID.4 and worse than an Enyaq. Besides the Virtual Cockpit, slightly better ride (probably), slightly nicer seats and better infotainment there is no reason to pick this car over the other 2. Decent looking car. Better than the Enyaq and ID.4 but that is subjective. But also very standard.
