The new drills have a safety feature to prevent you from hurting your wrist. To turn it off you have to put the direction button in the middle and hit the trigger 4x think.
The batteries are not the problem; looks like you are using the incorrect speed setting on the drill. Also, the tool is not in hammer mode... when not it hammer mode, the low-speed (high-torque) setting needs to be used.

Speed 2 makes a difference for sure. Also the Amp/HR doesn’t determine the power so much when fully charged. Just how long it can go. My M18 metal saw came with a 8amp/hr battery but I can use a 5.0 and it still cuts the same just not as far haha
Supposedly the 6.0 and up have an extra fuel cell which allows for more power. The 2.0 and below have one less fuel cell and therefore offer less power.
@@paulbodenstab917 His pinned video on Buying and Using Milwaukee batteries explains this and the fact that there is some cross over of size vs amp hour. A 3.0 that is the same size as a 2.0 has the same number of cells but better quality. As where the larger 3.0 has the extra cell, same number of cells as a 4.0 or 5.0, but lowest quality cells. Buying the highest rated battery in a particular size will give you the best battery at the lowest weight.

I've used Milwaukee, Dewalt, Ryobi, Rigid, Kolbalt and even the Hercules brand from HF. Out of all of them I've had the worst issues with Milwaukee. I've always said they are underpowered and your demonstration proves it to me. None of the other brands would have had the difficulty going though that piece of pine that the Milwaukee couldn't muster. As to which of the others are better that depends on their usage and price point. After my Milwaukee drill fell apart drilling a hole in a ceiling for a can light I tried the Dewalt and haven't looked back. I reached out to Milwaukee but there was no customer service. Not to say that that wouldn't happen with Dewalt but I've never had that issue with it.
have you mentioned the anti twist feature both models of drills have? you know so you don't break your wrist when it over torques. or were you overweighting the competition by deliberately over forcing the Forstner Drill Bit? it be interesting to see what would happen if you added a gen 1 or 2 and take a look at what the overall torque specs are.
Why are you using speed 2? I thought you want torque not speed with those bits... and were you using the drill in hammer mode? It sounded like it was hammering. I use my Milwaukee hammer drill and original battery that I purchased in 2010 with a 2-9/16" bit in speed 1 on drill mode for running drain lines through walls all the time and have never had a problem.
I use the M18 sander with an XC 5.0 battery. I want to add batteries for larger jobs and have been considering the 3.0 high output. What is your opinion on the potential performance of the 3.0 high output with the sander?
Aye just wanted to say I love your channel your a real G im part of the company that’s currently rebuilding Jim’s cheesteaks on south street I’d love to meet ya one day keep up the great content !
the amp power of the batteries is not that give you more power to your drill it just means the duration of time of power in the battery that you can work of if i'm not mistaking
I have a bunch of the M12 batteries and tools. They are all the same regular batteries - not he or anything special, all the same. There is 1 battery which stalls whether I use it in the drill, impact driver, sawzall, and even the flashlight. Does not matter the tool, the battery runs a few seconds and quits. Let off the trigger and it goes again. Gets the job done but with many stop/starts. There is a problem inside that one battery and it started doing this from the day it came out of the box.
Are we sure the drill’s safety shut off isn’t kicking in? It looks a lot like it’s shutting off right when the body of the drill twists - even with the battery that’s working better.
If you noticed. At the top of the board you were drilling right through. In the center of it you were struggling. noticed the difference . Notice the grain of the wood. The center of the grain is in the middle of the board where you could not drill through in one shot, that would be closest to the center of the tree.
Previously a Wholesale Buyer/Distributor of Commercial Tools & Hardware … A note … with Milwaukee specifically … and Reputable Tool Mfgs generally … 1. Use “DRILL” Setting when Drilling. NEVER use “CLUTCH” Settings unless you intend to “Fail” on a bindup. 2. Hammer Drill/Drivers have a markedly Lower Torque and, are at best, a compromise. Yes, if you often need a “Hammer Drill” these are good but only Good/Mediocre as a Drill where they will “Fail/Bog Down) … (they are also cheaper than the Drill/Driver check the price)
The headline almost had me. If you can do any type of research or get any information with your connections because I’m sure you’ve heard but there’s an ongoing debate in the field that Home Depot gets cheaper quality tools than their tool supply counterparts like ace, hardware or tool stores like that. I have yet to find any concrete truth. Some say the internals are made differently. If so, could you maybe disassemble some of the tools from each place or maybe talk to any representatives and ask them it doesn’t really make sense but also if the money is worth it, I guess it does make sense to the companies
The best drill to use for larger holes like that is a slow turning Hole Hawg with the HD12 Battery. Me personally, I have a 30 year old corded Milwaukee right angle drill that has never let me down. Save the small drills for small holes in plaster or metal....
I got an 8 Amp Hour battery and it won't charge on rapid charge but it will charge on the regular charger on the rapid charge it flashes red green red green
Should be on speed 1, it’s triggering the autostop. It’s not that it can’t do it, it’s just that the drill and Milwaukee doesn’t want you to break your wrist
I have never bought a m18 tool from Home Depot. I’ve bought them from ace hardware and a local place called Darraugh’s. I’ve bought all my m12 tools from them though.
I have bought the Milwaukee hand truck luggage cart many times and it never lasts longer than 3 weeks out on the road on my luggage. Not durable at all and won't last....
Watched Nine minutes of a clickbait titled video only to see the results & the video was a complete waste to watch. This was boring compared to watching him drill through concrete in a bucket.
Spoke with Milwaukee rep on job other day. He said Home Depot Milwaukee not same quality as everywhere else. The parts are less quality and cheaper. Thats where they can afford to cut price and deals.
The batteries should come at half charge because if you are storing batteries long term they say put them into storage at half charge, then fully charge them before using them.
I know my newer Ridgid drill also will only work in low speed for bigger bits, unlike my older gen drill. I think it’s mostly a newer feature to prevent burning up the motor in high speed, which I did see happen in a drill at work.
I heard there's 3 different ones Napa's, home depot, and tool truck brands tool wise. Batteries I don't think they matter from where as long as there milwaukee.. and are you really supposed to run that bit in high speed???? 🤔
I was a battery builder for 22 years. I've seen this trend in every battery chemistry, especially with NI-MH. Seeing this time and time again, I don't doubt one bit what you said.
Based on how a recent warranty on a M12 6ah battery has gone w their new eService I’ll never buy Milwaukee again. It’s a nightmare to deal w them and it takes forever, like a month start to finish to get back to work!
i wont use Milwaukie because the promo 5 ah and charger i bought from home deathspot wouldnt charge . after returning twice . i just refunded my money. went to dewalt . no issues . had rigid for years. batterys break easy . moisture.
Other testers have shown most high output batteries are inferior to standard batteries in normal temperatures. High output are better in freezing temps.
Maybe but the drill down a gear and not on 2 but 1 and it may go through easier. 5ah is not more or less powerful than 6,8 or 12. Ah is the capacity of a battery, how long will it last doing work at x load.

Congratulations on scoring the build for that Philadelphia Landmark! I’m sure we’ll bump in to one another at some point.
the amp power of the batteries is not that give you more power to your drill it just means the duration of time of power in the battery that you can work of if i'm not mistaking
I currently work at a "jobless cordsight" 2:38
When I drill mechanical t in pipe my Milwaukee has to be on 1 where my Dewalt can do it in all 3 gears?
Doubt that
@@jordanmercredi3740 you shouldn’t
I got this exact deal and the batteries had initials on them. First charge didn't complete the second charge did.
More amp hour means longer run time, same power output regardless of amp hour. It's physics.
I'd like to see a water torture test were you not only run different brands in water, but totally submerge them for hours checking in now and then.
Watch donut media video
Vince , no more click bait please, you’re better than that!
No he's not better than that
I bought an M12 jigsaw from home depot. The product was abused in storage to the point where the metal frame was bent.
Does milwaukee have a battery that's comparable to the dewalt flexvolt 6.0ah battery
Discharge and test charge again please. Is still 4 bars?
Are we sure the drill’s safety shut off isn’t kicking in? It looks a lot like it’s shutting off right when the body of the drill twists - even with the battery that’s working better.
Did you turn off autostop?
If you noticed. At the top of the board you were drilling right through. In the center of it you were struggling. noticed the difference . Notice the grain of the wood. The center of the grain is in the middle of the board where you could not drill through in one shot, that would be closest to the center of the tree.
so the grain is tighter towards the core
Previously a Wholesale Buyer/Distributor of Commercial Tools & Hardware …
A note … with Milwaukee specifically … and Reputable Tool Mfgs generally …
I tell my people to stay away from drugs. It will do them no good. it’s important to keep your mind clear.
The best drill to use for larger holes like that is a slow turning Hole Hawg with the HD12 Battery. Me personally, I have a 30 year old corded Milwaukee right angle drill that has never let me down. Save the small drills for small holes in plaster or metal....
if you want real power use corded.
How can this guy review tools when he thinks he is drilling into a 2x4? 2x10 or 2x12 perhaps...
Drill in Speed 1 not 2 for wood you need more torque.
For what are manily used 51mm holes?
Is the 8.0 good for the fuel air compressor?
Sure
Spoke with Milwaukee rep on job other day. He said Home Depot Milwaukee not same quality as everywhere else. The parts are less quality and cheaper. Thats where they can afford to cut price and deals.
What’s the reps name, and where they from?
Don't need the click bait title Milwaukee is good from anywhere
From now one, I’ll call my tool battery charging station, the jobless cord site.
The batteries should come at half charge because if you are storing batteries long term they say put them into storage at half charge, then fully charge them before using them.
Is the part number the same?
I know my newer Ridgid drill also will only work in low speed for bigger bits, unlike my older gen drill. I think it’s mostly a newer feature to prevent burning up the motor in high speed, which I did see happen in a drill at work.
I’m lost what are we doing? A battery test or a drill test?
Forget all that and get dewalt.
It's called a click-bait test. 🤣
I heard there's 3 different ones Napa's, home depot, and tool truck brands tool wise. Batteries I don't think they matter from where as long as there milwaukee.. and are you really supposed to run that bit in high speed???? 🤔
There are times where you’re going to need the extra oomph of the HD12.0 for your M18 fuel gen 4 drill.
I hear it turns flashlights into lasers
Would the flex done better you think?
I have noticed that my M18 XC4.0 packs (that were bought new in 2014) seem to have a longer lifetime than the XC5.0 packs do.
I was a battery builder for 22 years. I've seen this trend in every battery chemistry, especially with NI-MH. Seeing this time and time again, I don't doubt one bit what you said.
So basically get H.O batteries and not the XC?
I figured a volt and Amp test and taking the battery apart and seeing the cells and the differences
Vince, 1) buy a hole hawg. 2) learn your speed settings 3) its not the battery, drill or the bit. its the person behind it...
Where’s the best place with deals to buy Milwaukee from online? I live in the sticks lol
Granted, yes you can finess a “smaller drill” like the gen 4, if your drilling that big of holes, you should be using a hole hawg
Why would one use a hammer drill with a door lock bit ? Maybe it should be used with a carbide bit, on concrete, like hammer drills are meant for.
I generally compare prices at the Home Depot app & online… I thought everyone did since it also shows the sale times at local Home Depot stores
Maybe but the drill down a gear and not on 2 but 1 and it may go through easier.
5ah is not more or less powerful than 6,8 or 12. Ah is the capacity of a battery, how long will it last doing work at x load.
