Your BUYING and USING Milwaukee M18 Batteries ALL WRONG! (stop doing this)
ua-cam.com/video/TrYpAckWe6M/v-deo.html
I hop you can come down here in bossier city LA Lowe's it is in bossier city
Are most of your followers morons or what? This is just stupid click bait crap and if I was Home Depot, I would sue you.
Who thinks of these dumb video titles. Just wasted 9:33 of my life.
You should’ve used it on number one it’s getting you more torque
You should’ve used it on number one it’s getting you more torque
I mean… Why “click bait” the title Vince? The title should be “Does it matter where you buy your Milwaukee batteries?” I would have watched it either way, but still… A click bait title? You’re better than that man! Just sayin’!
You missed the times when every title was "99% of all people don't know...." Talk about click-baity titles. He's gotten better but still has an addiction to the click baity stuff
I dig Vince....however he doesn't get the deal like some of the other guys do. So....#clickbait
Ditto
Because it works on silly people which is ok don’t be mad at the hustle be mad at the game
Cause it works that's what people click
My man is laced up in Milwaukee merch from head to toe. Probably has on Milwaukee socks and takes Milwaukee gummy vitamins too. But still can't drill through that piece of wood consistently.
Forgot the Milwaukee boxers
He was on speed 2 on purpose
A hole that big needs to be on speed 1. I repair power tools and when I see gears broken, this is why
That's why his video was absolutely useless and somewhat disturbing. Like I said in my comment he needs to learn how to use a hole saw because he doesn't know how.
One thing I would have done when drilling a hole that large in diameter is to go on Low Speed, this will give more torque, less rpm. I think that would have allowed all batteries to drill through the 2x material. JMO.
Same thought. He tests tools, but he doesn't know how to use them.
@@korn522 Lol…! What.? Vince is an absolute Craftsman in the trades. He purposely maxes out the tools to show you there limits. Here he was showing the strength of the two battery sets. And in order to do that, one needs to bring the tool to failure. Plus , he’s also a showman/ entertainer.
Huh? If I jam a 1/2” corded heavy duty corded drill, that isn’t a tool test
Unless he is the tool, then yes I suppose it is a tool test
I use a 2 9/16 bit all day at work with my Milwaukee, it just needs to be in the low gear. If it were it would have easily gone through that first piece of lumber he had.
You are absolutely right, I was gonna suggest the same
You had me worried for a minute cause I’ve got quite a few promotional 5.0 Milwaukee batteries. But now my mind is at ease, plus I have the fuel tools I’ve always wanted. Which is a milestone to me!!!
Same here, bro!
It’s not the battery, in some instances you’re activating the auto stop feature in the drill! That’s why it immediately stops, it’s supposed to! Keeps your arm from being ripped off!
I went to the depot and got them to match competition price from Northern Tool on 3.0 HO cp battery two pack which Northern was selling for $99 and Depot had for $179.00.. best day I had at Depot ever.
I need to remember that.
👍 I worked at a jobless cord site once.... nothing to do but look at cords.
The Jobless Cordsite 😂😂😂 Thats the Future.
😂
Had me worried with that title... but reassured what I thought previously, I have a hard time believing Milwaukee would spend the time/money to make a cheaper version to offer for these sales/"bonus" kits.
I just completely switched to Milwaukee in the last 3 weeks. No restocking fees at the Home Depot unlike Acme and Ohio Power. Love the deals that Home Depot has been running.
@Grace b good for you now get the f....out here!
@@mollyv2755 good for you now get the f....out here!
@Helen Christ who the f..... cares!🤪
These fucking bots need to run out of batteries
I would rather support smaller businesses locally. Screw the corporate big box stores.
I know my newer Ridgid drill also will only work in low speed for bigger bits, unlike my older gen drill. I think it’s mostly a newer feature to prevent burning up the motor in high speed, which I did see happen in a drill at work.
The new drills have a safety feature to prevent you from hurting your wrist. To turn it off you have to put the direction button in the middle and hit the trigger 4x think.
Isn't the trigger locked in the middle position? Bought a new Super Hawg but haven't used it yet.
I did not know this. Thank you for this comment.
Dude that was the auto stop 😂 not the battery’s
I can't believe no one has mentioned this still and the video is a over a year old... This guy is awful at took testing
man didn't read the manual, I saw "autostop" written on it and immediately grabbed the manual
If that’s the case then why did the GEN three do the same thing without the auto stop jackass
Speed 2 makes a difference for sure. Also the Amp/HR doesn’t determine the power so much when fully charged. Just how long it can go. My M18 metal saw came with a 8amp/hr battery but I can use a 5.0 and it still cuts the same just not as far haha
Supposedly the 6.0 and up have an extra fuel cell which allows for more power. The 2.0 and below have one less fuel cell and therefore offer less power.
@@paulbodenstab917 His pinned video on Buying and Using Milwaukee batteries explains this and the fact that there is some cross over of size vs amp hour. A 3.0 that is the same size as a 2.0 has the same number of cells but better quality. As where the larger 3.0 has the extra cell, same number of cells as a 4.0 or 5.0, but lowest quality cells. Buying the highest rated battery in a particular size will give you the best battery at the lowest weight.
You had me worried with that headline….buy em where ever the price is right and where ever is most convenient for you! Except for True Value, I got screwed over 1 too many times at the place with the friendly hardware folks! Never again!!
i think if Milwaukee sold inferior ones it would be pr mightmare
Click bait
Your jobless cord site got me lol. Thanks for making great videos. 👍🏻 There's alot of time and effort put into doing these videos for us.
Thanks Jonathan, appreciate that!
Cordless battery deals don't mean the batteries you get will be worse. It just means those sales are "loss" leaders to get you into the platform or more heavily invested in it.
I used quotations because I'm sure most manufacturers still make a mint profit off their battery "sales".
Well said. Now days a "Loss leader" sale item means they only sort of pillaged our wallets. ;D
Exactly. That's why it's usually on the lower priced tools or older generation ones. Getting someone to go "oh, now I have 2 or 3 batteries and 3 tools, I might as well stick with it".
I'd like to see a water torture test were you not only run different brands in water, but totally submerge them for hours checking in now and then.
Watch donut media video
At 2:37 the "jobless cordsite" had me laughing with rewind after rewind. Great content.
I caught that too lol
Possibly does the new gen 4 drill have a kickout feature where it shuts out so you dont twist your arm/wrist?
From now one, I’ll call my tool battery charging station, the jobless cord site.
“Jobless cordsite is the future” 😂😂 love it
The batteries are not the problem; looks like you are using the incorrect speed setting on the drill. Also, the tool is not in hammer mode... when not it hammer mode, the low-speed (high-torque) setting needs to be used.
Well, don’t mean to disrespect you sir but amp hour size means how long the battery last, not that it’s more powerful. Secondly you should be running that drill in low when using a bit that large
I use the M18 sander with an XC 5.0 battery. I want to add batteries for larger jobs and have been considering the 3.0 high output. What is your opinion on the potential performance of the 3.0 high output with the sander?
The best drill to use for larger holes like that is a slow turning Hole Hawg with the HD12 Battery. Me personally, I have a 30 year old corded Milwaukee right angle drill that has never let me down. Save the small drills for small holes in plaster or metal....
if you want real power use corded.
This video is click bait. Don’t turn into a hack.
in general this video should be watched before you enter the rabbit hole of buying expensive cordless tools
If it’s the auto stop that’s cutting the drill off you can change it with putting the selector switch in the middle position and pressing the trigger 5 times. I accidentally stumbled upon that 😂
I buy all my Milwaukee tools from Home Depot and haven’t had any complaints
I got that same deal for Christmas. I’ve been happy with it
Would you normally use the higher setting, 2, for boring holes?
I figured a volt and Amp test and taking the battery apart and seeing the cells and the differences
I have never bought a m18 tool from Home Depot. I’ve bought them from ace hardware and a local place called Darraugh’s. I’ve bought all my m12 tools from them though.
And that's why I have kept my 30 year old corded Makita 1/2 drill 600 rpm.... It would tear through that wood...wrist breaker without it's handle.... There are still needs for these corded tools...
I got that same battery kit for 150 last week it was a steal!!
I have only bought my team red tools at home depot. I wasn't aware there was any other place (short of the tool truck that comes by my work once a week).
The headline almost had me. If you can do any type of research or get any information with your connections because I’m sure you’ve heard but there’s an ongoing debate in the field that Home Depot gets cheaper quality tools than their tool supply counterparts like ace, hardware or tool stores like that. I have yet to find any concrete truth. Some say the internals are made differently. If so, could you maybe disassemble some of the tools from each place or maybe talk to any representatives and ask them it doesn’t really make sense but also if the money is worth it, I guess it does make sense to the companies
Just curious do you have the drill set to a number on the clicker mode or are you using the drill mode because I have a Gen 3 and it doesn't matter whether I'm using a high output 3.0 an XC 4.0 XC 5.0 OR a high output 8.0 my drill literally eats through wood and I absolutely stand behind it and love it
It's set to second gear on the top slider so maybe that's why its cutting out.
Isn't the Ah's just how long will last, Amp hours? The 18V is the amount of power? Am I wrong?
Aye just wanted to say I love your channel your a real G im part of the company that’s currently rebuilding Jim’s cheesteaks on south street I’d love to meet ya one day keep up the great content !
Congratulations on scoring the build for that Philadelphia Landmark! I’m sure we’ll bump in to one another at some point.
This is good to know. Also, you can get blades resharpened (though, that's probably not an option on such a cheap blade).
Those blades are replaceable you don’t sharpen them like a traditional auger and there not that cheap.
I have noticed that my M18 XC4.0 packs (that were bought new in 2014) seem to have a longer lifetime than the XC5.0 packs do.
I was a battery builder for 22 years. I've seen this trend in every battery chemistry, especially with NI-MH. Seeing this time and time again, I don't doubt one bit what you said.
I got this exact deal and the batteries had initials on them. First charge didn't complete the second charge did.
I generally compare prices at the Home Depot app & online… I thought everyone did since it also shows the sale times at local Home Depot stores
Hey Vince! Nothing to do with this video but give everyone a heads up about A HUMONGOUS GIGANTIC SALE of the century. I was at Home Depot last night (West Branch, Michigan) and 90% of their Spax screws in all sizes are marked down about 75%. You need pics, I got em. It's crazy. I grabbed a Homer bucket that happened to be right next to the shelf and started to fill the bucket with what I use the most and then some randomly. I walked out the door with 14 - 1lb. Boxes for $78. All of the $14.40 boxes are only $3.73 and the $18 boxes are $4.83 . They might be having contract issues as Spax screws were always more expensive than GRK. Their clearing that whole shelf section. Maybe you've already heard. Let us know when you do. Thank you VCG
Awesome cuz, glad you scored!
@@VCGConstruction why u click baiting Vince cmon man
@@edgee7612 Because I'm not sure how to PM him the info, and IMO this would be some news I would like to know about sooner rather than later. They are flying off of the shelves. VCG has 552,000 subscribers to share the info with. It's surely a heck of a deal that I wouldn't want to miss out on.
Because they are Spax, and they are low rated junk screws. They use the cheapest, lowest quality steel wire and have old thread sets. Their heads twist off too easy, and their points are non-existent. No pro uses them.
@Jeremiah Mckenna Are you speaking of all their sizes or just longer lags? Any specific size or type that had continuously failed? I haven't had any issues with the sizes that I usually use which are 2.75" and shorter. The shear strength holds up to its rating. I'm not a "brand loyal" person as I usually only buy the Spax when they're discounted. I've always used GRK for anything 3" and longer without any issues.
If you noticed. At the top of the board you were drilling right through. In the center of it you were struggling. noticed the difference . Notice the grain of the wood. The center of the grain is in the middle of the board where you could not drill through in one shot, that would be closest to the center of the tree.
so the grain is tighter towards the core
Could’ve sworn I subscribed. Idk why I haven’t seen your vids but I’m glad the algorithm brought me back! 🎉
I currently work at a "jobless cordsight" 2:38
"Jobless cordsite"! 😂
Great video
I have a problem with my milwaukee m18 12.0 . Brand new but when I use with my tablet saw is only cut a few.
4:00 "go right through this 2x4." Thats one big 2x4 😄
Get ready for new deals next week or so. Just saw Home Depot put up new Milwaukee stuff. The price is higher I think right before they put them on sale.
Hey Vince love the show. Can you try the same test with a Diablo bit?
Would the flex done better you think?
Can u do a video ? Impact wrench milwaukee 3/4 one key vs makita xgt 3/4
Sure thing
Ok thanks 👍💯
The only time I've had had my drill stopped on me the way it's stopping on you is when I didn't realize I wasn't in drill mode I love your videos bro I f****** watch them all the time I was just curious bro
Should be on speed 1, it’s triggering the autostop. It’s not that it can’t do it, it’s just that the drill and Milwaukee doesn’t want you to break your wrist
Could this be a result of the anti-kickback feature (or wrist-saver mode)? It looks to me like it could be that, but, as I don’t yet have the
Gen 4, it’s just a semi-educated guess.
It wasn’t James, handle mode engaged
Wrong gear for large diameter drill. He should have had it in the low speed, high torque setting.
I bought an M12 jigsaw from home depot. The product was abused in storage to the point where the metal frame was bent.
Please be clear about the setting(s) that the drill(s) are on in the future. It wasn't mentioned once in this.
Did you turn off autostop?
Explains how I got to my 4th Milwaukee charger… Home Depot bought. 1 bad battery in the batch as well.
What is up with the m 28 battery...is it that much better? Just curious? Thank you much.. thank you captaincobb
4:47 @vcg construction
Hey Vince, what if gen 4 was at full speed, than went thru wood? Th8nk might work better b/c of the “anti wrist break tech” which n9t in Gen 3 and can just send full speed right in wood from start (Gen 3 still my fav b/c of the anti kick feature….as have this happen 100% of time when Gen 3 doesn’t do this” fyi….?.?
None of the times the drill stalled were from the anti-kickback technology. It was just a real dense piece of Doug Fir! Heavy too!
Drill in Speed 1 not 2 for wood you need more torque.
I tell my people to stay away from drugs. It will do them no good. it’s important to keep your mind clear.
That procedure was about as scientific as a kindergarten coloring contest.
There are times where you’re going to need the extra oomph of the HD12.0 for your M18 fuel gen 4 drill.
I hear it turns flashlights into lasers
I have a bunch of the M12 batteries and tools. They are all the same regular batteries - not he or anything special, all the same. There is 1 battery which stalls whether I use it in the drill, impact driver, sawzall, and even the flashlight. Does not matter the tool, the battery runs a few seconds and quits. Let off the trigger and it goes again. Gets the job done but with many stop/starts. There is a problem inside that one battery and it started doing this from the day it came out of the box.
Mine only does holes with hole saw in mode 1
Previously a Wholesale Buyer/Distributor of Commercial Tools & Hardware …
A note … with Milwaukee specifically … and Reputable Tool Mfgs generally …
1. Use “DRILL” Setting when Drilling. NEVER use “CLUTCH” Settings unless you intend to “Fail” on a bindup.
2. Hammer Drill/Drivers have a markedly Lower Torque and, are at best, a compromise. Yes, if you often need a “Hammer Drill” these are good but only Good/Mediocre as a Drill where they will “Fail/Bog Down) … (they are also cheaper than the Drill/Driver check the price)
I bought a blower, and it came with a 5aH battery, haven't openedt he battery yet in a year, does anyone know if it will go bad if I leave it in storage for too long?
Yeah open it up and use it
Home Depot ran an add during your video lol😂
For what are manily used 51mm holes?
Wouldnt having it on speed 1 and drill mode instead of hammer drill mode have been better for this test?
Yes. Should've been on speed1 without hammer.
Me personally, I wouldn't be trying to send that on full power.
Is the part number the same?
Why do they not give you your warranty?
Need to have that bit angled when using
open the packs and inspect the cells. dewalt (atleast what I have opened) are always samsung or LG 18650 cells
manufacturing cost and shipping is at around $60 for the battery kit. insane mark up
Can someone please tell me why the drill keeps stopping and it’s not binding up? I have the gen 3 I was drilling a 3-5/8 with the hole dozer on Monday and it kept stopping on me I was so mad it almost got thrown across a customers yard my gen 2 would have ate through it no problem what is up with these “new drills”? Frustrated Milwaukee guy here. Also for context I was using 3amp hi output and 5amp batteries neither one made a difference
Are we sure the drill’s safety shut off isn’t kicking in? It looks a lot like it’s shutting off right when the body of the drill twists - even with the battery that’s working better.
So where else do you recommend buying Milwaukee tools besides HD?
@VCG ! Vince, I'm not exactly satisfied with the video. I feel like you could have given an option that would go through either board the first attempt. That's if there is one? Would the 8, 9 or 12 Amp hr's have gotten the job done the first time? Do the results very if put in an impact driver?
Thanks from indiana
And tell the misses "Hello"!
And I get it. The point was comparing the 5 Amp hr Batts you get in the tool deal @ home day' pot.
I can run the test again in speed 1 if you like?
@@VCGConstruction Given your serendipitous negative results here, running in every speed to see what's going on makes sense. So would putting it next to the Hole Hawg lineup if you have one in the shop and testing the batteries with that. In my market all the kiln dried wood is SPF or doug fir.
Based on how a recent warranty on a M12 6ah battery has gone w their new eService I’ll never buy Milwaukee again. It’s a nightmare to deal w them and it takes forever, like a month start to finish to get back to work!
My 5ah Makita batteries have more power than my 6ah batteries in my tools that require more current. The 5ah battery specs show a higher discharge rate than the 6ah........ PS. I won't be back to argue about it.
Granted, yes you can finess a “smaller drill” like the gen 4, if your drilling that big of holes, you should be using a hole hawg
Vince, 1) buy a hole hawg. 2) learn your speed settings 3) its not the battery, drill or the bit. its the person behind it...
I though, it's all about the sensor of anti kick-back, maybe you can try pull the trigger 5 times after it stops and then pull the trigger to continue your work... It's my humble opinion, Vince 👌🏼😊
It's not the battery it's not the drill it's the wrong speed
I got an 8 Amp Hour battery and it won't charge on rapid charge but it will charge on the regular charger on the rapid charge it flashes red green red green
great information
i wont use Milwaukie because the promo 5 ah and charger i bought from home deathspot wouldnt charge . after returning twice . i just refunded my money. went to dewalt . no issues . had rigid for years. batterys break easy . moisture.
I bought a "Starter pack of 2 6ah HO batteries and charger" and a 2880-20 Gen 2 angle grinder for 298$ plus taxes yesterday in Canada and think that was a good deal.
Sounds good
What if you tried the low gear Vince? I think that would show different results.
It would probably do it in 1st, should we run it?
@@VCGConstruction My hammer drill does this in 2nd with my auger bits, when I switch to 1st it powers through. Give it a try. Maybe your battery test will go smoother?
@@DragonSoulRising2745 Exactly what Trina said. When I drill my water holes when I'm using my hammer drill I always go low gear with my auger bits. It works way better and I would be interested if it would affect the batteries at all. I think that is where you would see your results better than in high gear with the drill camming out.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Pretty sure 2 is for high speed drilling and what not. Number 1 is for more power slower and big drilling. Does any manuals say this ? Or anyone ever hear Milwaukee talk about this?
Spoke with Milwaukee rep on job other day. He said Home Depot Milwaukee not same quality as everywhere else. The parts are less quality and cheaper. Thats where they can afford to cut price and deals.
What’s the reps name, and where they from?
I don't think amp hours would make the tool more powerful anyways. But it might last longer with a higher amp hour battery.
