Nasi lemak is officially the national dish of Malaysia.... the original parts of nasi lemak are coconut milk rice, crispy anchovies, boiled egg, cucumber, sambal and fried peanuts. Other additions such as fried chicken, fried fish, vegetables and others can be considered new additions or modern nasi lemak. Different chefs, different tastes, especially in sambal. For me as a Malaysian, the best nasi lemak in Kuala Lumpur is at Nasi Lemak Wanjo Kampung Baru and Village Park Restaurant...
Yes , the Nasi Lemak is traditionally a village rice , so the normally would come with only coconut milk plus pandan leaf rice plus chilli sauce anchovies or squids with onion , egg , one fried fish , cucumber with some peanuts & the additional fried chicken is normally an addition that cost extra! Nasi = Rice & Lemak = Fatty gravy in the Malay & Indonesian language! Lai , Lai , Lai , Lai meaning come , come in Cantonese! Say , where is your lady companion in this video?!
Nasi lemak at Wanjo is indeed highly regarded! It's known for its rich, flavorful coconut rice paired with a variety of delicious accompaniments like sambal, crispy anchovies, boiled eggs, and often with choices of meat like fried chicken or beef rendang. The balance of flavors in each serving makes it a beloved dish for many, especially in Malaysia. If you’re a fan of Nasi Lemak, Wanjo is a spot you wouldn’t want to miss.!Wanjo Nasi Lemak is a popular restaurant located in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The nasi lemak looked quite good. You can get more of nasi lemak like Wanjo or Kak Chuk in Kampung Baru or in Semua House. By the way, nasi lemak is now recognized by UNESCO.
If your Nasi lemak rice has strong ginger and not enough coconut taste, the seller has no clue on how to properly make it. Try Nasi Lemak from Nasi Lemak Alor Corner in the mornings. Or Nasi Lemak Wanjo at Kampung Baru.
You can also try other Malaysian specialties such as roti canai, teh tarik, Malaysian murtabak, rendang (also an Indonesian specialty), ramli burger, asam laksa, nasi kerabu, nasi kandar, Sarawak layer cake and many more. Malaysian cuisine is rich in flavor, influenced by diverse cultures, featuring coconut milk, spices, and known for rice, noodle dishes, traditional desserts, and street food. mostly based on rice, fish, chicken, meat, spicy, spices. If you are a vegetarian, you are missing out on a lot of Malaysian food. But we also offer many dishes for vegetarians.

Lai means come in Chinese. Lai Lai lai = come, come, come. The sambal for nasi lemak is the chili sauce accompanying the nasi lemak.
Lai lai lai is chinese word means "come come come"... Usually, food stall vendors invite customers to come in and eat at their restaurant or stall.
