At my last service Aston Martin noted that my sensors were no longer transmitting information to the receiver and informed me that the wheel sensors were no longer available. They said the only solution was to fit a new brand of sensors to the wheels and a new associated receiver unit at a cost of £ 2,163. I declined their offer! I would just drive the car in the old fashioned way with regular manual tyre pressure checks and feeling if and when I got a puncture. My sensor batteries lasted about 12 years by the way. What you have shown is certainly a helpful and no doubt much cheaper option which I will investigate next time I need a new set of tyres. Looking forward to your video on cloning the old sensors when their batteries are flat.
Great tutorial Steve, thank you. It’s also very timely for me. My 2005 DB9 threw its first TPMS fault yesterday. I then watched your video last evening. Sometimes things just work out. I also have a 2006 V8 Vantage, which will no doubt require the same attention at some time. You are a one man saviour for those of us who drive similar age Aston’s to yours 👏

loved the demo so bought the Autel 509 and 4 MX Autel sensors but it won't talk to or wake them up, the existing sensors are probably 8 years old now.....wondering if the sensors could be something other than Aston Martin.....tried several other choices but nothing worked.....darn!

Out of all the Direct TPMS I've dealt with, I've never dealt with Aston Martin's SmarTire TPMS before. Seeing how the system works, how much of a pain it was to fix if one of the sensors is dead, and why we can't perform an OBD or automatic relearn on them ourselves - even if we have our own TPMS diagnostic and relearn tools (i.e.: Autel TS508 or iTS600), it's good to know there's a workaround on them. Good job on the video.
I’ve been having a lot of difficulties to read the old sensors, batteries are not dead as the system still works 100%. What it seems is I have ~30 seconds after the wheels stop turning to read a sensor. After that they go quiet until driving long enough so the system detect the sensors.
Right after I put new tires on my DB9, one of the TPMS sensors went out. I should have replaced them when I replaced the tires, but I didn't. I just disconnected the TireSmart control unit and check the pressure each time I travel. Next set of tires, in about 1 year, I will put on new TPMS sensors, and hope that it is not the entire TireSmart module that went out. For the 2007 DB9 Volante, the module is under the passenger glovebox.

Have you done or what are your thoughts on the DBS suspension upgrades for an early DB9? DItching the Dyanmix for later Bilstein setup?
