Can you do a video on 7 days to die old gen xbox version? I think it's a absolutely amazing game to play with friends but it seems like not as many people play it as a game like that should. It's kind of like a realistic version of minecraft, a sandbox first person survival game.
The military games are fun, but it'd be nice to see videos on strategy and RPG games, too. Man i love this series so much, it shines light on some incredible games that for some reason or another, have almost died out. Please keep doing these videos, i'm sure you're making some of those players' days and potentially breath fresh life into some of these titles, because a few of your viewers might potentially try these games out themselves.
Mate, please keep this series going. It's really interesting to find games I've never heard of, and know there are a few people still playing. I've tried a few out from your recommendations and met some great people on the way. Keep up the great work!

I played Sector's Edge for wuite some time when it released and time and time again over the course of its life time. Unfortunately, most of the time servers were empty. I sometimes remained online in servers waiting for people to join and that worked quite well tbh. It's just a fun game. It can get absolutely crazy or just plain ol' sweaty. Fun all the way. Can't wait for it to retrun. Thank you and this community for letting it live one last time
G'day from Australia mate. Just came across your channel last night and have already binged watched over a dozen videos. You've got me interested in looking into some of these games, can't wait to binge watch another doz videos today
Holdfast really shines in its more organized private server battles. They have regiments that have their own servers and have daily organized battles against each other with kinda "roleplayish" rules.
I love how Rye does plenty of research when playing these games, allowing us to have context as to why these games are dead rather than just randomly playing games that have no players in it. It shows developers that their games still have plenty of value despite low player counts.
Sad the Sector's Edge is shutting down, it looks so cool and fun, if only I weas a PC Master Race I could have played it almost like when Halo 3 servers went offline. This game reminds me a lot of Halo it even kinda resembles Halo a little, maybe I'm just projecting. The destruction of the environment in game is wicked cool too. Edit: Points for using Hopes and Dreams, I love that song. My favorite version is the Epic Metal cover.
that last one on Dayz was so god damned wholesome! I always wondered why I watched these videos its not like im ever gonna play these games but watching you chill with a guy like that was nice and i think its when you find moments like that that keep me coming back.
i kinda liked the DayZ mod but it was such a MASSIVE pain in the bum to get it running with different game versions, mod versions, server versions.... Everytime i tried to visit some friends in Epoch, the base building version of DayZ, it took me an hour of fiddling to get in. I then proceeded to crashing their helicopter, still have a video of it somewhere here. Sad to see the OG version slowly go, it's a piece of gaming (modding) history second only to things like Counterstrike. But you can't expect a big crowd to put up with this (multiplayer/mod wise) badly outdated experience. And similar mods exist for Arma 3 and DayZ standalone, which are far from perfect but SOOO much more convnient to use. As for recommendations, for a while Arma 3 (and2 before) life sim mods were a big deal. Altis Life for example. GTA 5 has jumped that train. Also Arma 3 had a Battle Royal mod before BR was cool. I think it helped start this hype. I wonder how that is doing.
Man the armA one hurt right in the Meow meow. Played the better of 3-4 years with my friends and a gaming clan i joined through it. So many different DayZ variants but some of the best gaming time i ever had.
It's really sad because when I downloaded it 2 years ago it seems like there was an active server with 20~ players on, but it seems to have shut down. One of my favourite childhood games and it defined the whole survival genre for me.
sector's edge had insane potential.. but yea i dont blame them having to maintain a game like that while only having a few people on your team is pretty hard
I only recently started playing holdfast about a year or 2 ago, and man i love it. The people ive met, the experiences ive had. No matter what there is always something new even when the setting is the same (and even when they arent with mods) the community is toxic sometimes but the majority are all just trying to vibe, and its always left a smile on my face.
Love your videos Rye! Have you thought of exploring a game that is dead, but a fan community has kept it alive? Star Wars Galaxies Restoration is a wholesome story of a community keeping a beloved MMO alive well past it's expiration date, and I still play and love the game. Another great video idea for you is NVMP, New Vegas Multiplayer.
Wow, you did Project Reality! Have been playing PR since it came out after finishing off with Battlefield 2, can confirm. The community is amazing, lots of love to everyone still playing.
I love that you put SH music in the video, I can def see a "Forgotten games" series starting with "forgotten survival horror games" with SH inspired games
Sectors edge has a unreal tournament feel to it with added destruction i would of loved that game I will add the game to my watchlist for the future news one day
was a fun surprise to see Sectors Edge, still remember the fun I had both playing on and helping on the game here and there, was my first actual work in proper game dev
Thank you for showing us some fun games and also supporting these games by promoting them on your UA-cam and showing us the small yet friendly community they have :D
the minecraft background music makes these videos so nastalgic, epecially during frankies sniper hunter part. its so funny seeing the old dayz mod and how clunky and broken it is compared to the standalone. great series
I love this series, it reminds me of being a kid and browsing random free or really cheap games on steam because I didn't have money for the big and popular games of the time and I'd end up spending my time in weird, niche online games which usually had incredible communities! Also I'd love to throw a recommendation for the next episode: Xonotic, it's a community made game meant to be a spiritual successor to unreal tournament, it has a tragically tiny player base but it is so much fun if you give it the time to get into it! If you were able to get a full server I can't imagine the chaos haha
I love that you end up talking about the people keeping these games alive as much as the games themselves. Always a great watch. Happy belated b-day Toaster!
It's great to see new players playing Arma 2 dayz mod, so many good memories from childhood, raiding bases, pvp'ing... I just wish it had the same player base it used to have. Finding a good server now is impossible 😫
Seeing DayZ as the Arma 2 mod and not the current stand alone brought me back. So many good memories on that game. I love the new DayZ just as much but the jank in the old one is so nostalgic
Hahah Webster....I told everyone as long as he stayed around the game would make a comeback. The things that guy can do with a squad in the game are sensational...he is incredible.
If anyone wants a really cool experience or an awesome way to get into a great community quickly I'd advice getting a fighting game, joining a discord server for it and checking in they have any "mentoring" system in the server, if you can get someone who's really good to sit you down and teach you the game it is one of my favorite gaming memories how me and this one guy spent weeks playing matches against each other as he taught me how to get good and after that I actually got into a fighting game, something I never thought I'd have the patience or skill to do
I love this series so much, I wanted to do something similar many years ago, but didn't have the community to bring up the server numbers. Bet you realy made the devs day when they say that huge spike in player counts.
Holdfast is more known for it's private communities/line battles, Often there are only 100-200 some on public/unlocked/non whitelist server to encourage a more competitive atmosphere outside of the relatively casual standard play. (Which is 7-20 people in your spawn just chilling playing VRC/Voipspamming webms in Holdfast.) The lack of rated/competitive servers really lead to the unfortunate decline of Holdfast. The Free WW1 DLC aspect that was added after initial release was a neat unique dev difference but unfortunately it was too little too late.
Hi Rye, thank you for playing sectors edge.
Thank you and this community for letting it live one last time
yall should acknowledge the pure effort and time put into these comments
17:13 this game looks so adorable I enjoy your videos thank you and as a German I can tell you your German is pretty good 😊
Sector's Edge looks like a lot of fun. I wish I had discovered it before.
There's still time before the 7th

G'day from Australia mate. Just came across your channel last night and have already binged watched over a dozen videos. You've got me interested in looking into some of these games, can't wait to binge watch another doz videos today
10:27 I blew up the staircase :)
was gonna hop on Sectors Edge with you guys when i saw the discord post, but unfortunately didnt make it. Looks really fun though, great video
Rye can you do another Sector's Edge session? i would love to join and maybe try to 100% this great game to honor it before its gone.
It's honestly heart-warming to see that with such small communities where every players matters how nice and friendly and communicative everyone is.
Just ate dinner but I'm always happy with an hour of rye
Holdfast holds a special place in my heart. its got a strange community of a variety of ages. i love it and will always return.
i kinda liked the DayZ mod but it was such a MASSIVE pain in the bum to get it running with different game versions, mod versions, server versions....
The best part of these videos is the people you meet. It’s what gaming is about, these friendships and memories it’s wonderful.
@@Exanae DayZ Europa was the GOAT
@@Exanaenah there still are servers you just need to download the dayz launcher and not do it through the steam mod
I have been watching your channel for the past few hours. How you don't get more people to enjoy this channel? You deserve more buddy
Battlefield heroes
Dead game series was By FAR the best idea you had
sector's edge had insane potential.. but yea i dont blame them having to maintain a game like that while only having a few people on your team is pretty hard
Omg I'm not really a binge watcher but these videos of dead games are so good 😂 the player interactions and the weird random comedy is awesome.
I love the impact Rye and his community have had on these game's communities.
This is such a cool concept for a series man!
19:44 is exactly why I will NEVER play open-mic games.
😂😂😂
Post scriptum was calm then the British guy came😂
Amazing video surprised your not passed 1 million subscribers yet with this level of quality
I only recently started playing holdfast about a year or 2 ago, and man i love it. The people ive met, the experiences ive had. No matter what there is always something new even when the setting is the same
(and even when they arent with mods) the community is toxic sometimes but the majority are all just trying to vibe, and its always left a smile on my face.
I WANT YOU TO PLAY either dead island 2 or any survival game with this lovely random you met in this game , PLEASE MAN
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BTW !!!!
13:28 As a player who basically always plays as a medic in FPS games, this is the experience encapsulated
Sectors edge has a unreal tournament feel to it with added destruction i would of loved that game
I will add the game to my watchlist for the future news one day
It looks like great fun
was a fun surprise to see Sectors Edge, still remember the fun I had both playing on and helping on the game here and there, was my first actual work in proper game dev
Try WT3, It was called red crucible firestorm, it was one of my childhood game back when there's facebook gaming
You have a real talent for narrating! You should consider that line of work
Really love the Wholesome vibe when you play multiplayer dead games.
Great seeing PR get featured. Always a great game to hop into even if its a bit confusing in the beginning
I love this series so much and I love that you’re creating a community. There are so many dead games that deserve to be played
I played PR from 2005 until Squads first early access release. Some of my core game memories are playing PR with the boys. It's incredible.
Days could use a full video itself!
Love this series, take your time with it though these videos are so quality it would be a shame to see them rushed out 👍
I love how in two of the games the grenade was almost an accidental pull.
Hahah Webster....I told everyone as long as he stayed around the game would make a comeback. The things that guy can do with a squad in the game are sensational...he is incredible.
This kind of videos are so wholesome! Keep doing what you are doing and you will make alot more people happy :)
14:43 shot was so good he started beating it lol
The thing you experienced in holdfast is being experienced on a daily basis on post scriptum with the right SL.
Nice video.
please dont stop these exploring (dead) games series, i need them for my fuel.. i love them haha!
I would say the linebattles and other private events is keeping holdfast alive
@@phergas2455 they're really the way the game's 'supposed' to be played (Same with War of Rights and Battlecry of Freedom)
Project reality is not dead. Still has a great player base and content is still being added! I’ve been on it for over 11 years
Also as previously pointed out, the game “Squad” is the successor to PR. Very similar gameplay mechanics
Now CoD 1 and Cod:UO, Arma 1, Swat 4. plus CS:Source zombie escape mod and LOTR map :D
Hi Rye, thank you for playing sectors edge. Its been probably my favourite fps ever since it released, and I’ve loved every second of being in its community, including having the opportunity to have my map cold harbour added to the map pool, so to see such a respectful send off is wonderful ❤️ If I’m honest I had misjudged the tone of your videos before I had even watched them, but now that I have I think I will be staying around to watch more! Many thanks rye!
Oh FrankieOnPC those were my days man ill rewatch it the dayz 2 playlist the Morgan Freeman voice in that once got me going
I love this videos bro!
18:53 Music is Red Alert 3 theme. For anyone who's wondering
check out the full dayz game it is actually really good
