Can you do a video on 7 days to die old gen xbox version? I think it's a absolutely amazing game to play with friends but it seems like not as many people play it as a game like that should. It's kind of like a realistic version of minecraft, a sandbox first person survival game.
The military games are fun, but it'd be nice to see videos on strategy and RPG games, too. Empire Earth 2 has had some players buy out the official servers in order to fulfill their own multiplayer city building desires, and Amulets and Armor had a few players create their own online community around the 1997 fantasy RPG game.

The first 6 months of Post Scriptum was some of the best gaming I've ever had. The sounds, the teamwork, the tactics used. It couldn't be beat, Squad only fills a tiny bit of what Post Scriptum was.
I played Sector's Edge for wuite some time when it released and time and time again over the course of its life time. Unfortunately, most of the time servers were empty. I sometimes remained online in servers waiting for people to join and that worked quite well tbh. It's just a fun game. It can get absolutely crazy or just plain ol' sweaty. Fun all the way. Can't wait for it to retrun. Thank you and this community for letting it live one last time
I've never seen sectors edge, but it looks really fun and the creator looks like a cool guy. I'll follow their new titles for sure. Thank you for doing these series.
Holdfast had a lot of publicity (if you can call it that) from Sovietwombles Bullshittery videos. they are great fun and have many views, but more from the players shenannigans, no usally not from the amazing gameplay shown. Which seems to be rather limited and frustrating. As must combat have been at the time.
*I'm a project reality boy too as well as Planetside 1. Project reality developed into SQUAD basically. So Project reality did a HELP FOR HEROES LAN in Reading 1 year. It looked awesome. They never did a 2nd one but looked amazing. Can't find their vid on YT tho :(*
@@Gatorade69 Never played Planetside 1 but did play Planetside 2 when it was thriving with people and some battles were amazing, felt like a real war going on, way better than Battlefield or other large scale FPS
Mate, please keep this series going. It's really interesting to find games I've never heard of, and know there are a few people still playing. I've tried a few out from your recommendations and met some great people on the way. Keep up the great work!
Holdfast really shines in its more organized private server battles. They have regiments that have their own servers and have daily organized battles against each other with kinda "roleplayish" rules.
Man the armA one hurt right in the Meow meow. Played the better of 3-4 years with my friends and a gaming clan i joined through it. So many different DayZ variants but some of the best gaming time i ever had.
It's really sad because when I downloaded it 2 years ago it seems like there was an active server with 20~ players on, but it seems to have shut down. One of my favourite childhood games and it defined the whole survival genre for me.
I love how Rye does plenty of research when playing these games, allowing us to have context as to why these games are dead rather than just randomly playing games that have no players in it. It shows developers that their games still have plenty of value despite low player counts.
11:57 Quick explanation for you, the little text on the left says "Du kannst dieses Fahrzeug nicht betreten, solange du keiner Gruppe beigetreten bist" which translates to "you cannot enter this vehicle as long as you haven't joined a squad". So, I assume you were still unassigned/didn't join a squad. Thus, you couldn't enter the truck. Also, thanks for playing on Sitzkrieg (main German Post Scriptum community server)! If you ever revisit this game, be sure to drop in again, we're open to English-speaking folks as well!
Holdfast would have died pretty quickly if it wasn't for lockdowns and certain streamers. Devs however messed up one of the updates that raised system requirements to riddicoulous levels. Few of my mates had to stop playing it because it suddenly started frying their PCs. I saw its ups, I saw its downs. Should some crucial points like melee was addressed, maybe the game will get its renessaince
Holdfast is still awesome. Not as many people on mic, but it’s still a great game. It’s the most fun dying simulator I’ve ever played. You can’t hit the broad side of a barn, and it doesn’t matter.
Post Scriptum isn't dead yet! OWI(squad) just bought the game and hired a well respected mod team to further develop the game. The player count has increase dramatically, might be the biggest video game comeback ever! So glad, the game is truly great and deserves to live.
i just love playing holdfast from time to time the people are always great ant ist always a very funny experience. didnt even know the game is considered dead because there are always 2 - 3 fully packed servers
I don't typically comment on videos, but please... Continue this series. It's by far my most anticipated uploads I have found on UA-cam. Thank you for putting in this work
as a kid i used to play project reality everyday on my dog ass computer when i couldn't afford games like squad or arma, i wasnt the best and barely got any kills, but it was my childhood.
Man i love this series so much, it shines light on some incredible games that for some reason or another, have almost died out. Just thinking about all the games i enjoy today which, in a decade or so, will be featured in one of those videos fills me with a sort of bittersweet sadness. Please keep doing these videos, i'm sure you're making some of those players' days and potentially breath fresh life into some of these titles, because a few of your viewers might potentially try these games out themselves.
If you haven't played it, Arma 3 is by far the most realistic war game / milsim. But it isn't for everyone, and the experience really changes if you play solo, with a team, against AI or against people. I always liked the war genre and i've been looking for a realistic experience for a while. The franchise single-player campaigns are some memorable experiences for me, even if the friendly AI is pretty stupid. But not too long ago, i joined a unit/community, and the teamwork, the tools that the game gives you, and the mods, made for an experience so unique, it's hard for me to go back to Squad or Post Scriptum and enjoy them the same way as before. We played an Ukraine-Russia campaign; whe played an Israel-Palestine campaign; and now we're about to play a Vietnam campaign (before i joined them, they already played a Falklands campaign and WW2.)
G'day from Australia mate. Just came across your channel last night and have already binged watched over a dozen videos. You've got me interested in looking into some of these games, can't wait to binge watch another doz videos today
post scriptum is now making a comeback, they were braught and new development will start early to mid next year, i never played it, i went to hell let loose instead and i am glad that both games are now back on track, the ww2 sim community was broken for a while with both of them having issues but i am very happy to see them both getting their playerbase back again.
Sectors edge has a unreal tournament feel to it with added destruction i would of loved that game I will add the game to my watchlist for the future news one day
Your video isn’t entirely right with Arma 2 DayZ. If you download DZLauncher, which is a third party launcher, you can play on some servers that still have a decent population. I think there is a German server that is full pop sometimes, really fun
Dead Singleplayer-Games can be re-discovered... can be experienced once more... But dead Multiplayer-Games just vanish... Never to be seen again... Except for YT Content. :)
I hope the people who made squad also aquire beyond the wire. Also if you didn't know im rather confident booth post scriptum and beyond the wire run on the same engine as squad. Someone comment and clarify if this true.
You should give post scriptum another try, it got bought by squad developers and now its called squad 44 and it reallly improved, now over 4 full serves everyday
What I love about lower population games is the people who still play them genuinely love the game and love playing. They're not just chasing the FOTM trends.
It seemed like back in the day people stuck with games but now it seems people just keep jumping to the newest thing, like they have ADHD or something. I also think the move from servers to matchmaking also helped this trend. Back in the day you'd find an awesome server with cool people and stick around and now everything is just matchmaking and it really does suck. Now games with a thousand players on it are considered "dead." Are people just spoiled ? Same people call an 8/10 game "mid."
Not sure if it's dead enough. In my teens, I played Gunz: the duel. You might want to check it out. Some pp tried to hype it up last year (2022), but I did not want to spend week relearning the differents tricks like butterfly or half-dashes or wall climb.
@@Gatorade69 it was because the moveset were not sequences of buttons, but frame perfect input and animations cancel. butterfly was jump + dash + sword slash and block at the same time. half dash or half step is crazy like jump+dash+slash+weapon swap+dash+shoot+swordswap. and those are the basic of the basic to join clans
Happy Birthday Win10/MagneticFlyingToaster (not sure what name to go by) I have a game suggestion, EYE Divine Cybermancy. It averages (when I checked anyway) around 20 people. I LOVE the game, but its a dead game these days

10:27 I blew up the staircase :)
People still play Planetside 1 ? I used to love that game back in the day. Never tried Planetside 2 though.

Keep up the great work!
happy extremely late birthday windows 10
Holdfast really shines in its more organized private server battles. They have regiments that have their own servers and have daily organized battles against each other with kinda "roleplayish" rules.
The only time I broke 20 kills in project reality was the hill 488 map playing as the North vietnamese army, I was just camping GI’s FOB.
Just ate dinner but I'm always happy with an hour of rye
i played sectors edge awhile back, even made a couple videos. always meant to revisit it, but never did. Sad to see it go.
@@Exanae DayZ Europa was the GOAT
@@Exanaenah there still are servers you just need to download the dayz launcher and not do it through the steam mod
I love how Rye does plenty of research when playing these games, allowing us to have context as to why these games are dead rather than just randomly playing games that have no players in it. It shows developers that their games still have plenty of value despite low player counts.

Quick explanation for you, the little text on the left says "Du kannst dieses Fahrzeug nicht betreten, solange du keiner Gruppe beigetreten bist" which translates to "you cannot enter this vehicle as long as you haven't joined a squad".
Btw, the successful milsim Squad was developed by the original team of project reality and they consider it as it’s spiritual successor
oh man, it sucks that sector's edge is shutting down. game is pretty fun. sad to see it going down.
So glad, the game is truly great and deserves to live.
i just love playing holdfast from time to time the people are always great ant ist always a very funny experience. didnt even know the game is considered dead because there are always 2 - 3 fully packed servers
check out the full dayz game it is actually really good
you’re the reason i’m ok with british people
um?
honestly sectors edge would be a game i would play
was gonna hop on Sectors Edge with you guys when i saw the discord post, but unfortunately didnt make it. Looks really fun though, great video
Dude, Sector's Edge actually looks really damn cool, makes me sad I didn't hear about it before.
Great seeing PR get featured. Always a great game to hop into even if its a bit confusing in the beginning
Sectors edge has a unreal tournament feel to it with added destruction i would of loved that game
I will add the game to my watchlist for the future news one day
It looks like great fun
Your video isn’t entirely right with Arma 2 DayZ. If you download DZLauncher, which is a third party launcher, you can play on some servers that still have a decent population. I think there is a German server that is full pop sometimes, really fun
Dead Singleplayer-Games can be re-discovered... can be experienced once more... But dead Multiplayer-Games just vanish... Never to be seen again... Except for YT Content. :)
Post scriptum was calm then the British guy came😂
You have a real talent for narrating! You should consider that line of work
I hope the people who made squad also aquire beyond the wire.
You should play Red Orchestra 2/Rising storm (buying one gets you the other and they run on same executive just different servers are RO2 or RS))
Post scriptum recently got purchased by squads developers and they promiced roadmap for 2024 game immediately reachd over 1k players this weekend
Dude such a smart idea for video. This vid and your channel just poped on my feed for the first time. Keep it up!
Try WT3, It was called red crucible firestorm, it was one of my childhood game back when there's facebook gaming
I feel that the mean greens probably is based after the 3do army men games. Which were kinda bad but sarges heroes 2 was fun if anyone ever played it.
Arma3 battleroyale nice community that used to do community games on sundays. I can hook you up with the main guy if you want just ask.
Not sure if it's dead enough. In my teens, I played Gunz: the duel. You might want to check it out. Some pp tried to hype it up last year (2022), but I did not want to spend week relearning the differents tricks like butterfly or half-dashes or wall climb.
I could never figure that game out back when I tried it forever ago.
I recommend Blackwake interesting community and fun gameplay
Pretty sure he did Blackwake on a previous video
Oh FrankieOnPC those were my days man ill rewatch it the dayz 2 playlist the Morgan Freeman voice in that once got me going
Holdfast holds a special place in my heart. its got a strange community of a variety of ages. i love it and will always return.
If you try to find servers in DayZ launcher you can find a lot more players
I haven’t watched it yet but I see holdfast is in here…. I swear I’m not already crying a little bit ☹️😢😭
Now CoD 1 and Cod:UO, Arma 1, Swat 4. plus CS:Source zombie escape mod and LOTR map :D
I feel like alot of project reality players moved to squad. But still its a great mod i have played it aswell lots of fun.
I played PR from 2005 until Squads first early access release. Some of my core game memories are playing PR with the boys. It's incredible.
Happy Birthday Win10/MagneticFlyingToaster (not sure what name to go by)
I have a game suggestion, EYE Divine Cybermancy. It averages (when I checked anyway) around 20 people. I LOVE the game, but its a dead game these days
thank you very much
seeing dayz arma 2 mod is such a throw back to when i used to play an shit ton of arma 2 when i was like 14.
if you want a new project reality you should go to squad it is the same thing with better graphics and more people
Love your vid, but arma 2 Dayz is not dead. You need to use the launcher, and you can see all the servers.
Makes me sad two of my favourite games of all time are considered dead games now
I love holdfast. Except when someone thinks you want to listen to their terrible music.
Try Holdfast when Dinklebean is playing. He's the greatest commander ever.
The Project Reality community thanks you!
rising storm 2 has a toy soldiers game
green army men dlc
I love the impact Rye and his community have had on these game's communities.
It's honestly heart-warming to see that with such small communities where every players matters how nice and friendly and communicative everyone is.
