This video was sensual yet tender, rough yet caring. It touched me deeply, and I feel I have learned many new things about myself - perhaps not all good, but important elements of myself. Thank you for taking me on this journey.
I'm changing jobs within the company, from IT to design, I want to take initiative an make an assigment in the design program they use, so i have 24hours to learn and make a design, i've used your video for this. greta work Jesse
I literally just changed my major to UX design and a prof recommended me to get started with sketch and principle(?). You made me get a good sense of what sketch is about. I'm excited to learn how to use it. Thanks!
As a Product Manager, I'de never thought that I will need sketching! But now! look at me! I am trying to use it, and I really enjoyed it till now. Maybe I can be a designer in my next life...
This was a really good introduction into Sketch and I learned a lot! It is now my design software of choice because it is so easy to use, and learn with the Sketch community how to use its tools and features more efficiently. Thanks!!
excellent tutorial, very concise, no fluff ! Only 6 mins in and have had to hit the pause button many times to make sure I'm following correctly and understand. Proper lesson!
I was interested in using sketch so I could layout the websites before programming it in html/css/bootstrap. Once I have the layout how will I know what to code? For example will it have all of the border, margin, padding information in the layout so I can just write the code and have it look the same or do I just have to look at the design and figure out how to program it from there?
You seem like a very smart guy when it comes to Sketch and designing in general. I came here literally knowing nothing. I want to create a mock up of an app I am designing and after watching this video still have no idea how to get started. It would be great if someone made a video for people like me.
Hey Jesse, thank you so much for this great video! I just started with Sketch and the fresh way of showing us how it works, is motivating me quite a lot to learn more about this great UI design tool! Well done mate!
Thanks for the insightful video. Just to confirm creating or designing in Sketch is limited to the Mac? Designers cannot design in this app if working on a Windows platform. Apart from the Mac, are there other devices, that the app is compatible with and allows designers to design/create?
Looks like you need to buy the product in order to test it. The trial does not allow you to do much like create a customized toolbar as shown in the video. I can't even unlock the icons.
Do you like this more than illustrator? Or is this the similar ? I’ve been doing illustrator for a 3 days now.. lolol & I actually like it but I’ve looked into this cause it seems cheaper but & this seems to be the go too in the Industry or so I’ve been told lol but what do you do as far as images ? Cause adobe you can get the adobe stock for thousands of images for the that awful monthly fee lol but gotta invest in yourself ! 👍 But I’m going to try sketch see what I can do 🤓😎👍 Do you have more tutorials for sketch? Like the way you teach But nice video man! Thank you again for all the help
Both are great I also use Figma. If you are using lots of stock images the you might like Illustrator more. I have lots more videos you can check out on sketch i'll also be releasing a new one later this week.
Daaaaamn! This program is a game changer!! I feel so silly I never tried it before... It is for me like a mix between InDesign and Illustrator but with a much cooler interface and waaaaay easier to learn and use. Thank you so much for the quick and clear explanation. You got a new subscriber :) Keep on showing us cool stuff!!
This intro really hit the spot, Jesse. My first encounter with Sketch, and you covered the basics in the right sequence. 15 minutes in, and I'm actually off to the races. Thank you.
Thank you for the intro to the app. But I expected to see how to use the Sketch app for prototyping. I hoped that it can be used to create a linked pages and then run, click on buttons and navigate from screen to screen, see dropdown menu when I click on it and things like that. Do you have a vide that covers this part of the app? Thank you for the video one more time. Tool looks good and I hope that it even more powerful that you described here.
I don't quite understand how do you align the red square to the grey squares? I tried selecting two objects and aligning one to the other but they just both align to the artboard.
@3:29 you say we need to click on the "key of a" right ? I don't really understand because it writes the lettre A on my canvas (sorry if this is a stupid question, I really want to understand how to use sketch) :)
I’m really happy to see this. I’m good with creating things on MacBook Pages. I think it will be an easy transition for me. I will purchase this product. Thank you sir
New to all of this. Just wondering what are the benefits to a software like this over Illustrator? AI does most of this. Yet it seems most UX/UI designers have very little do with AI.
Hey, what do you think about Adobe XD. I already have a subscription for the Adobe Creative Cloud and XD is included and I'm wondering if it's worth it to pay for Sketch. Thanks
thank you for this. I am currently using photoshop for my webdesigns, mainly because I use a lot of fades, textures etc ... fiddling a lot with the image creation itself while designing the weblayouts. As I understand, sketch doesnt deal with pixels, correct? So I would have to get the images background patterns etc designed & decided in photoshop and then import them into sketch? That seems like creating an extra step and therefore I kept just simply finishing the designs directly in photoshop. Do you have another suggestion for workflow? Or are there plugins etc that deal with pixels within sketch?
Start using Adobe XD and stay connected with the Adobe Suite. Designing websites in Photoshop is not the way to go though no matter what. It's just not the right tool
Can you really buy it? I thought you could only subscribe after the 30-day trial version. I'm trying to gain experience in UX design, and some internships require proficiency in using Sketch. Since I don't have a job, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to afford it. I guess I'll have to make the most of the 30-day trial to learn how to use the app and maybe revisit it when I have an actual project.
Hi Jesse. I love your intro tutorial that I got crazy in starting sketch to apply on my work. I am a graphic design and never thought that I would still be able to learn web design. By any chance, do you have any videos integrating Sketch App with Hype Pro 3? It would be very nice to learn that as well. More power and continue doing what you do best!
Can Sketch (and Figma) be used just for prototyping or can they also be used in generating code of the components created? Like do I have to do the work of creating everything all over again in HTML, CSS and whatever other frameworks I use?
Thank you for a great tutorial! Could you please specify, what is it a narrow horisontal column menu between canvas and menu of the right (with C on the top)?? In my version of Sketch 61.1 there is not such a column..
Do you recommend both affinity designer and sketch be included in a front-end workflow? Both of these programs look pretty powerful. I'm coming from adobe suite so I'm still kind of dipping my toes into the waters of what else is out there.
I've used Axure for five years and I just got a job that primarily uses Sketch. This was very helpful :) What are your thoughts on Axure? I swear by Axure like you swear by Sketch in this video lol
Great video Jesse! Do you happen to have made a video on 'preparing design system' using Sketch? Although I found a lot in UA-cam but they are way too long videos, one even goes to 45 min long!
Hi Jesse, great guide and lots of great tips in only 15 mins. Just one suggestion if you allow me respectfully, you have a gesture in your face to rise the right side of your mouse that I could not stop looking at. Yours is a pro approach, hope you take this as a constructive criticism. Thanks again

I enjoyed it a lot :)
Ho do you export everything? cmd+a > export?

When I export the symbol, I get a dialog box asking where to put the file. How did you make and get it into the directory
you can do this with adobe illustrator, make your own template for each screen size and have a library of icons.
True you can but it's really not designed to work fast and efficient like some other newer tools.
Excellent introduction, Jesse! Well done!
Thanks a ton, Mike! 🤘

Thanks for this video, Ive been using Sketch for months now and I really loved it!

How do you group your app icons in the Mac Dock like you've done at 1:25?
Great video to give a basic understanding of Sketch
Glad you enjoyed it
hey, how can i convert image to 1x 2x and 3x ?
The export setting can do it all
Is there a similar app for Windows?
Can you export a sketch design from a windows onto Xcode?
no I don't think you can
Hello, is there a specific version to export that provides the text that the developers need?
Use sketch measure and export an inspect mode for developers
