    Great info on the handling. Would love a handling in different terrain and conditions review of the G5 expert and the Matryx. everyone is talking about the features talk to me about how they handle on the snow in the nasty. thanks

      This one is tough because it is so dependent on the rider and what they like and what they're used to. Platform considerations including things like suspension tuning, vertical vs. layback steering, even fit and finish, etc plays into this dynamic. Here's our best effort:
      Sean is more familiar/comfortable on Matryx, and I'm more familiar with the Doo, so you kind of get both sides.
      The Gen5 Expert is much closer now to the Matryx in the same sense that Khaos brought the Polaris sleds a bit closer to the Doo playfulness in a way. They seem to be merging in the middle, and you could argue that that's a good thing for riders in both camps. They both retain their distinct "feel" though.
      I would say that the Expert gives a softer handling than the Matryx platform, which I personally like-but at some cost of precision. I personally want a sled that's easy to ride in tough conditions so it doesn't wear me out, and the Expert delivers there.
      The other Gen5 sleds feel very "Doo" still, so if you like that feel, you're going to love Gen5 even more. They are considerably easier to handle through the crud-this is especially true for the Summit X, which also has a 34" ski stance. This is the way of the future I feel.
      We do our best to share our opinions based on our own experience and preference, but without bias one way or the other. As always, the best way is to try it for yourself because they are both exceptionally great platforms! Hope that helps ~Pat

      @@sleddermag So is someone who likes the Polaris/Cat handling feel more than the Gen 4 going to like the Expert better?

    • @sleddermag
      @sleddermag  2 роки тому +1

      @@Montana_Motorized yes, you will like the Gen5 Expert better than the Gen4. It still feels like a Doo and the steering is similar (more stable though), just easier to handle and more precise.

      Thank you! Ski-Doo made a ton of changes on the Gen5, so it's a lot of details to remember on the spot. We did fail to point out the adjustable limiter strap or mention that the new tMotion rear suspension on both sleds adds 25 mm of travel.

    I think they only utilized the Kashima coated shocks for one season. New tech in some areas, less value in others. So much on the newer Doos that I like over my 2019, and at the same time, so much I don’t.

    It's ridiculous that they still put that high riser on all the other models. It's way too high unless you're 6' 5". What a joke.
