(AMAZING TRIP) I see a lot of people bashing Carnival for this incident. My Wife and I along with her family were on this cruise. The ship turned abruptly and tilted and Yes initially it was kind of scary because we didn't know what was going on but some of these people blew this out of proportion. The ship was tilted for maybe 15 seconds before it returned back to normal. The water was calm and we had just passed a large cargo ship. This was a long way from a "disaster". Carnival quickly fixed the problem and we were back on track. The crew of the Carnival Legend were marvelous. It truly was a wonderful trip and would recommend it to anyone who wants to see Alaska from the comforts of a cruise ship.
J Shepard no... because ford has regular drivers. It’s also not fords fault if a driver refuses to change oil or something like that. Cruise ship captains have tons of experience and also it’s the cruise lines fault if they don’t do maintenance on the ship. They ignored maintenance on this incident as they did in the triumph incident. Viking has 0 incidents and has 200 ships.
“Holding on for dear life” literally just elderly people standing at the bar. The steering gear issue they’re talking about happens all the time on ships, but generally the seized prop free’s itself before anyone would notice. There was exactly zero risk of the ship going down, worst thing that could’ve happened is they spun around in circles for a few hours
@ pretty sure nothing actually happened on that boat except for some waves. Waves can't capsize a 300 meter long cruise ship. Trying to tilt it back is just stupidity, no excuses. If they weren't thinking straight That's another example of ignorance. A boat like that can't collapse by waves so why panic.

It might make a very small difference if every passenger moved themselves and a heavy object as far as possible towards the starboard side of the ship.

How does an 8 degree list become a news story? Ships like this can take more than a 25 degree list before it becomes an emergency. What is happening in this video should be taken as part of an ocean-going experience, if someone is freaked out by this maybe they should limit themselves to land-based vacations. Try sailing cargo ships in stormy weather where the walls becomes the preferred walking area due to the heavy roll of the ship.
During maintenance they went to special port and get drained. So they're on land. It's not rare that they tilted the ship for launching or inspections on dry land.
It is extremely difficult to capsize a ship without either a very large external force or an extreme imbalance of the ship’s center of gravity. As the ship lists the center of gravity (downward force) and center of buoyancy (upward force) shift in opposite directions, COG away from the list and COB toward the list, that counteract the list and returns the ship to an even keel. A ship can capsize, of course, if it takes on water on one side of the ship, thus greatly shifting the COG. Most people greatly overestimate the size of a list. While 8 degrees is a sizable list I’m sure there were people on board who were claiming it was anywhere from 30 to 45 degrees when It was nowhere near that.
This looks mild compared to the incident I was involved in. The ship turned 180 degrees as fast as it could. Apparently it was an autopilot malfunction, so they say. Anyway, our ship was tilted as far to the port/starboard side (I can't remember, being ~15 years ago) as possible. I was in my room at the time and the TV fell off the shelf and rolled across the room - I had to jump it by using 2 walls to climb up lol. It felt like an amusement park ride where the room just spun around. Kitchen staff were burned due to hot oil splashing everywhere. Tables and chairs rolled across the dining room where my parents were. Not to say the passengers of the cruise ship in the video didn't go through a terrifying experience. Just saying it looks mild compared to the ship I was on.
i was a heavy mechanical marine engineer on that ship, and can confirm an issue with the steering hydraulic lines was leaking, but once we fixed the issue it was sailing as normal. slight tech issues can always occur although rare
meh, put a boat over 50 degrees then lets start getting concerned. worst thing you can do is run to the high side to counteract; go no further than centre to allow the vessel to right itself. Then if needs be, slowly move out from centre.
Ya know, I've always wanted to take a cruise, until the last few years. There have been so many negative experiences shared on social media that I think I've officially changed my mind. I do feel they may have overdramatized this one a bit though. Yeah, I'm sure it was a little scary for a short time, and the water pouring down from the pool on the upper deck I'm sure wasn't fun. But, they made it sound like people were desperately clutching to objects, and one another, to keep from sliding off into the ocean like in the movie "Titanic", when the video literally showed them just standing there with a hand on a pole or around a person beside them lol.
You should take the social media negative buzz the same way you saw this video, overdramatized and clickybaity. Been on 6 cruise since Nov of last year. All were Royal Caribbean and all were great Highly recommend you go on one
my thoughts exactly haha. there's no way people can make a difference tilting a ship that size by standing on the other side. but as for something like the black pearl it was much easier because it was smaller
Being someone who actually knows what the hell he's talking about, i can tell you all that it really doesn't matter what company you choose, something like this can happen on any ship. This could easily have been dirt in the hydraulic fluid that clogged the hydraulic system and caused a sub-pressure in the steering gear which in turn shifted the rudder to an extreme angle. The ships crew probably reacted in exactly the right way and shut down the stb rudder and continued going solo on port side.
I once went on carnival breeze cruise! During the night, there was a bad storm. Waves were emptying th pool and then filling back up again! Type something and then hold the send button and you can send a text with sounds or visual!we all survived!
Glad everything wound up alright. My parents took my sisters and I on a cruise over summer vacation, but the ship, the Norway, couldn’t sail because the fire sprinklers weren’t working. Luckily the Norway let everyone come back some time later when everything was normal. It was pretty fun and nothing bad happened. The people on the other side of the ship even got to go down in the lifeboats during a safety drill.
I think my anxiety would be through the roof on a cruise much like it is on a flight. Think I'll pass on taking a cruise which sucks because they look pretty fun
You won’t the listing because I was on a ship that was listing didn’t realize it was listing until I went outside and saw that one side was higher then the orher

Highly recommend you go on one
@@hipstergod 6 cruises...and now how much do you weigh ? My mother was cruise crazy and kept piling on the pounds.
@@brega6286 🤣🤣🤣 i gained like 15lbs
@@brega6286 what the hell? That’s a strange question to ask someone randomly on the internet.
Your loss. Don't believe everything you see on social media.
This is why you don't go on cruise ships just cause they give you a discount
yo they almost died
"others hold on to each other for dear life" thats one of the reasons I stopped watching Inside edition, they over exaggerate too much.
Fake News at it's finest.
Well, since they were Americans I guess moving to one side of the ship would be a logical way of balancing it.
my thoughts exactly haha. there's no way people can make a difference tilting a ship that size by standing on the other side. but as for something like the black pearl it was much easier because it was smaller
up is down
I'm kinda offended by being American and you saying that but there isn't just one country on that ship so...
Jack Sparrow exactly👌
I wish I could have a Tiny cute bunny IKR😂
This boat: tilts a bit
Titanic: First Time?
Who'd a thunk that a cruise ship was in the ocean? I thought they were only for the bathtub.
you mean thought not thunk
taylor pilkington Pretty sure they meant to say that.
taylor pilkington sh..shhh, that’s funny. Do you thunk so? 😁
Malena Tully that’s not a word don’t you thunk
Thunk...
@Boatboy12 LMAOOOOOO
Oh hush. You don’t know what happened. You weren’t there.
this looks fun I wish I was there
Dude seriously
yes
lol
ha
Yessss my animal friends
0:29 “others hold on to each other for dear life.”
*two people standing up straight*
Well they had a titanic experience
Fun Fact: Titanic also Listed to It's Side But On The Port Side (Left Side) it tilted also 8-9 Degrees
I once went on carnival breeze cruise! During the night, there was a bad storm. Waves were emptying th pool and then filling back up again! Type something and then hold the send button and you can send a text with sounds or visual!we all survived!
Lilly Renaud wow, glad you're okay.
Jack Jamison thank you
Lilly Renaud absolutely! God bless you
Sjisjs
?
Reminds me of Titantic.
Issie lol
Issie TITANIC || NEXT YEAR WHO IS COMING!?!?!?!?
Issie omgggg yessss
Titanic did not tip over, it ripped open at the bottom from a iceberg and sunk
Scary Haboob thank you smart answer
Bunch of drama queens on that ship :D
Please, I bet you'd be just as terrified if you hadn't a clue of what was going on
Being terrified does not equal drama queen.
You're an idiot.
So I guess passengers of the titanic where "drama queens" too?. Hell, I'd act like that too. That's a traumatizing event!
+Nicole DiMayo oh noooo!!we're gonna die!!!!!
The people on the other side of the ship even got to go down in the lifeboats during a safety drill.
this is why you gotta go with Disney.
Fr
No this is why you don't go on ships
Then instead of being eaten by sharks you can be eaten by aligators.
lol with how much they charge f no
yup
8 degrees...
Just ask Titanic about angles and "tilting far"
GENERAL LEE why is your name in caps, I fell like I heard a Japanese guy scream at me
Ironically this was above a comment “titanic all over again”
Question: "What is going on?" ... Answer: You're on WATER!
Everybody is so calm during this it’s kind of weird.
The staff look so terrified - if I saw that I would start freaking out properly
Dad tries to calm his kids ahahahahhahaha 😂😂😂😂😂
Dark Angel *points at water coming in*
Look at that!👆🏼
The kids seemed pretty terrified. One of them even died of heart attack during the disaster.
get in get IN GET IN ...
Hey dad calm down its just water
HackanHacker which you could drown in.
HauntedEspeon LPS that was less than 6 inches of water
Watch the terrifying moment a plate crashes to the floor in this incredible cruise ship footage
ha the dad was more scared then the kids lol
i new something was wrong
Yeah, God forbid a man express his fear. It's odd (and SAD) how people love to imply you're not a man if you show fear.
Welp we sank like the titanic
The displacement of this ship is 88,000 grosse tonnes & they think that shifting people to the other side will make a difference!?
Vlad the Impaler Thats what im saying facepalm moment
When did they say that bruh? I really don't remember anyone saying that
Kolas 0:36-0:48 did u even watch the video bruh?
The kid who thought they were sinking got me rolling
And thus brown underwear was made!
Holding onto each other for dear life!
Shows man smiling sipping a beer
Legit an add for a cruise ship was under this
I've been on that ship!!
It's actually quite a lovely ship when it's upright
Was dory near you?
Vortex _3958 that’s not nice. Lol
Error 404: the animal could not be found.
If thats 8 degrees...i'd hate to see it list...10degrees lol the cruise ship would have surely gone over
Mark Smales unsinkable? ha ha
I work on a cargo vessel. Already experienced 45 degrees rolling in a typhoon.
I guess you could say they were unSEATTLEd
get out
now
Finn Hoffmann i love u. marry me plssss.
FinDiesel no.just no.
Illegal Civ buuurrrrrrnnnnnn!!!!
I felt the same exact way..ended up very different..I had the time of my life. You don't even realize the ship is moving really. We had a ball. Think it over again..I'm sure u will have loads of fun..and once u get some drinks in you..you won't even give being frightened a 2nd thought ❤️
And thats why you build a ship that has all the food stands on the middle
It's just the damn pool spilling.......
But it got some chairs wet!Oh the horror.
lot of americans in ship. They had to move to one side and everything would be ok.
Lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂
110 year old Titanic survivor on board: *You dare challenge me?*
Me: “This is why I hug my floor 24/7”
Earthquake: *BOOM*
grunge girl xx Your floor just ate you
Haha, nice.
Just don’t travel on carnival pick Royal Caribbean instead 😉
ISAIAH KULAKEVICH me too in 2012 it was GREAT !

RC has better ships but i party too much. I need carnival.
@@ninobrown6501 RC tries to get you lit. Carnival actually cuts you off.
@@ninobrown6501 just do straight up rave cruises or old row break cruises bro. Only other young adults and teens where as these regular cruises little kids and elders and not really much to do on the ship for partiers
Cruise ship: tilts slightly
Inside Edition:
“Passengers try to use their weight to make the boat shift upright”
Bill Burr was right, these people aren’t forward thinkers lol
Am I the only one who thinks carnival should be shut down at this point...
That is why I'll never go on a Carnival cruise.
Another Skywalker L for commenting on a 9 month old comment

Who doesn't want to go in a cruise ship now? Me!
Me!
forget the cruise ship,im not going on planes
Alyssa Sosa oh yeah, I forgot about planes.
Aa gyuh
Me! But iv'e always been worried that it would tip over.
Yup, what better way to calm your kids than showing them seeping water, truly a calming idea.
That dad is an attention seeker.
All fat Americans like; This ship is only 460 million pounds. Let's move over to the other side. Come on there gotta be a dozen of us only in this room !!
