A couple of things- 1. My in laws and some of my husbands family were on this ship during the storm. From their point of view- there were announcements made from the cruise director to keep everyone informed and calm durning the storm. 2. My husband has a ship tracker on his phone and you can CLEARLY see where the captain tried to go around the storm but it was too big and just had to try to get people back to safety. I say THANK YOU to the captain and the crew for doing what it took to bring my family back home safe 🤍

If the captain knew about that storm before leaving port (and should have, IMO) they should've stayed until it was safe enough to pass through if it wasn't possible to go around it. And Carnival's response sounds like "welp nothing to see here we're already back out to sea, byeee" BS. That quick turnaround to keep that ship in operation gets a permanent side eye from me. Won't be taking cruises with them ever again.

1:10 - Must be an expert to know what a ship splitting in 2 sounds like. Did she not expect that her safety would be in the hands of a ship captain? Pro -Tip: don't sail Carnival.

That's the chance you take going on a cruise, it's not Carnivals fault. Any time you go out on the ocean expect anything to happen, weather can change quickly.

the climate is changing, storms are getting more intense and unpredictable, and passengers blame the crew for ruining their cruise.
Could you imagine these people on a trip to mars.

Actually if you think about it the passengers are slightly responsible paying for an unnecessary giant ship to sail around just for fun and burning tons of oil while doing so releasing carbon dioxide which contributes to climate change. I know it’s a drop in the bucket but cumulatively it is our desire for largely unnecessary modern comforts (for example: cruise ships) that is driving climate change to a great degree

Just came off Carnival Legend last month and we hit some bad weather in the same area. Ironically, I had a small reunion with three of my ex-navy buddies and their wives. My wife and one of the three other sailors got motion sickness among many others onboard. When you take a cruise, you need to have some degree of expectation that the weather could turn and make things miserable. For me, I have spent six of my eight years on the open sea so I understand and I know pretty much how to manage. The cruise still was successful.

I am reminded of a passage on a private yacht down the Pacific coast south of Ensenada. I told the other crew that I bought seasick meds if anyone wanted some and was promptly riddiculed. 7 days later only myself and one other remained seasick free. I still have the unopened box of tablets 5 years later. 😅

Honestly I think there’s truth to both sides here. The lady in the video does come off as a bit entitled and ungrateful, and of course it’s true that no one can control the weather and it sounds like the captain/crew did an incredible job. However, part of effective crisis management is keeping people informed so that they don’t panic. As other people have said, there are plenty of examples of emergency trained personnel keeping people informed and calm even under difficult circumstances. It’s part of the job, at least ideally, especially because when people start to freak out en masse it makes the situation worse. Also lol at the cruise company responding by saying “We are on our next cruise 🤖” Not much of an acknowledgement of what the passengers and crew went through.

People need to realize the before you set off into the ocean that there is a possibility of storms and rough seas. Those ships were designed to be able to be able to handle such circumstances. Excellent job captain for bringing everybody and the ship back safely. GLORY to GOD!😃
