  • We had a service call on a Manitowoc Ice Machine that was not producing ice, I found that the machine was in safe mode and it was not producing good ice cubes. The machines water filters were plugged up and the water level probe was dirty. I got the machine operational and we are going back to do a proper cleaning on the machine.

    Just like the machine I worked on at the Hershey Lodge all 18 ,I changed the water filters every 6 month ,before I retired about the last 5 Ice Machine that were replaced had the automatic flush control, that saved me a lot of time so I could work on 675 room Ptac,annual cleanings had the room maids clean the unit filter once a month,that saved me a lot of time,I'M GLAD I'M NOW RETIRED GOING ON 3 YEARS!

    I had no idea that ice machine cleaner had such a short lifespan , let alone had one to begin with , thank you for the tip . Fortunately I've never had to clean one , I would have been running around like a headless chicken wondering why the scale wasn't coming off 🤣

    And this is why I rarely get ice at places unless I or one of my guys has cleaned the machine. Wish people knew how nasty those things got. This is also why I show a manager or owner how gross they are on the first clean and 90% of the time they are like ok stop showing me I use the ice in my drink everyday and my response is yes so do your customers it needs cleaned!

    Decent video. I think checking pressures is a bit much but I'm pretty strict on not gauging up unless my freeze and harvest times are off. Not knocking you for it, you probably catch some stuff I'd miss, but if times are right on you can usually sleep easy that night. Have you run into one that they put a softener in line before the ice machine? I had one, brand new install they did, that would only make two batches of ice because they ran a whole building softener and the NaCl was getting concentrated in the trough with the factory short purge in between cycles. Luckily, setting the max purge time worked. Might be handy to you someday if you run across one

    • @davejohnsonnola7908
      @davejohnsonnola7908 5 років тому +2

      13 IMs at my facility..various vintages and makes. Really crappy water, have had to go to each machine and figure out how to max the purge cycles.
      Probably not the best method in dry areas but our city water supply comes from the Mississippi river, never an issue with availability.

    • @davejohnsonnola7908
      @davejohnsonnola7908 5 років тому +2

      Had an easy day recently and wanted to play with new FP probe set and Measurequick while waiting for a couple of batches to harvest after doing a deep clean on a Prodigy.
      Noticed amp draw was double what the book called for.
      Did not even know the unit used a run capacitor. Turned out it was shot.
      Strange thing was this was just a routine cleaning, the machine had been producing ice. Would never thought to check amp draw on a machine that was functioning.
      Replaced run cap and PTCR, now back within specs.

    Hey just wondering. Your training in this field. LA TradeTech? Or just on hands with a local company in the Coachella Valley or San Bernardino. Dude your totally in this trade. I’m a retired AC guy lived in PD and installed a lot of the kitchen equipment in Coachella. I live in Colorado now. Love your site.

      Thanks for watching. I grew up in the trade working for my dad, I went to Mt. San Antonio community college in Walnut, Ca. for their hvac classes and just continued to learn after that. I've been working in the trade for about 17 years now. My service company is actually in Riverside,Ca. But I service a few locations in the Coachella Valley. 99% of my work is in the Inland Empire and orange county

      Close to home for me. Graduated from Glen A Wilson 1982. Worked for a guy in Orange County City Air. He trained me in the commercial HVAC. Did some schooling at LA trade Tech. My son 17 training with a company here in Pagosa Springs Co loves his job. Already doing compressor change outs. He’s watched all your videos. Keep up the good work. You really inspire people to do good work and to do it right.
      Thanks.

  • @nickrodriguez8076

    I was taught if those harvest pressures are low then it’s low on gas. It shows itself low on gas in harvest before it does in freeze.
