    so strange watching your vlogs in Europe and then watching you drive to places I see almost daily. I'm from Torquay and live on the great ocean road !

      First of all, it sucks here. The cockatoos you saw are a local deal where you saw them. They are NOT in our trees everywhere. AMERICA is the place that changes the world. Not here. Boring.

    Have been binge watching from the start during COVID-19 restrictions and now made it to this vlog! I grew up in Torquay and Anglesea, and spent my life on the Great Ocean Road, and it was so lovely to see Kara and Nate enjoying my own backyard (albeit a few years after the fact!).

    “Taking the road less traveled sometimes leads to a dead end” is a good analogy for life. And of course the eternal optimist Nate chimes in with excellent advice “no worries, we can just turn around!”

    Watching this episode today & noticed the lighthouse you went to is from a classic Aussie TV show called "Around The Twist".It was a quirky show but any kid in the early 90's would have watched this show after school everyday...the theme song is very nostalgic for any aussie

    So I've been binge watching from the start and am now up to this video (obviously). I'm from Melbourne and it's so strange to be watching you drive down the Great Ocean Road because I spend so much time there. It's actually really nice to watch other people enjoy and experience this area for the first time because it's truely amazing. Can't wait to keep watching. Only 590 videos to go

    If you have watched 'Round the Twist' that is the lighthouse that it is filmed in and around
    Kangaroos are sacred to Australia because they and emus are the only animals in Australia that cannot go backwards. This is also why they are seen on the Australian emblem.
    Koalas are called koalas, not Koala bears. If you put a soup spoon on your nose then you will look like a koala.

  • @sirlonewolf816
    @sirlonewolf816 5 років тому +8

    12:35 Nate was extremely lucky, what he thought was a Koala was in fact an Australian Drop Bear, a close cousin of the Koala but quite deadly. The Drop Bears are vicious, and drop from trees at night on to unsuspecting people, normally tourists from the UK and USA!

    Hello from Brisbane and welcome to Australia. I was lucky enough to have a childhood in Angelsea. I now live in Queensland, but I drove the Great Ocean Road about 5 years ago. It sure is a great part of Australia. And yes, the left lane is for slower traffic. One thing I have to remember when I am driving in the USA is "passenger to the curb". No matter where you drive as long as you remember that you will be ok. Looking forward to your future videos.

    Driving along the Great Ocean Road reminds me a lot of driving along the Pacific Coast Highway in CA, but maybe even prettier in some ways. More green, wild Koalas and Cockatoos (?!!). It's all amazing. L❤VE Australia so far.

    G'Day Kara & Nate. I've been enjoying your vlog and your travels. I actually watched all of the videos from when you started with the van until now. I liked them so much that I went back to the very start to watch them all. I'm from Werribee, which you would have driven through on your way to Geelong. Two things though about pronunciation. Us Aussies say Melbourne as "Mel-burn", not "Mel-born". And Nate, Torquay is pronounced "Tor-key", not "Tor-kay". Kara, I love your Aussie accent. Awesome and funny. Keep up the great work. I will keep watching.

    I think they had cheap car rental places right near the Docklands Travelodge (on the Southern Cross Train Station area)

    I remember the great ocean road :) It was gorgeous. But Australia is a very hot place.

      That's exactly why I skipped it when I was there. Had a friend do it and he said the exact same thing. Wasnt worth it. But that's kind of how I felt about aus as a whole. I didnt see anything I dont see everyday living in central ca. Except for the animals.
