In season 1 during the food fight scene where they said where everyone ended up in the future, Britta was the proud owner of a used ipod nano in 2014, which is when this episode aired.
The name of the sail boat was “Childish Tycoon” referencing Donald Glover’s stage name Childish Gambino, which was starting to take off around the time they filmed this season.
The song Ass Crack Bandit was performed by Ben Folds, who also plays Professor Bublitz, the weed growing Botany professor. Also if you remember back in Season 1, in 2009, with the Schmitty Kids, and Jeff seduces the one kid's mom - at the end they have the food fight in the cafeteria, and Animal House style credits showing what happens to everyone in the future. -- - Britta's names her as "Proud Owner, used Ipod Nano, - 2014 Season 5 aired the spring of 2014
5x4 is one of the best episodes of the show. So funny but so heartwarming. It's really Community at its best, and it didn't even need a paintball or chicken finger.
The Film Theorists on UA-cam have an excellent video on who the ass crack bandit was (titled: We solved Communitys final mystery), highly recommend you watch or better yet react to it at the end of series 6 because it makes so much sense!
The man you recognize is Walton Goggins and he is a national treasure. He is great in The Righteous Gemstones which is one of the most insanely funny shows I've ever seen; highly recommend.
The first mention of the ACB was in season 2's "Intro to Political Science" where part of Annie's campaign platform was to bring the assailant known only as the "Ass Crack Bandit" to justice.
Yeah, Chevy chase left the show after season 4, when Dan Harmon returned for season 5. He was barely in season 4. This was also the season Donald Glover left the show to chase his solo music, acting, producing career. Sad season for the community peeps. There was a reunion COVID meet-up of the group in 2020 to raise charity money for medical workers during the pandemic. The read was based on episode 4 that you are watching. You should search for it online, it was hilarious. They made the mandalorian break into laughter.
Now that you've seen this ep, I believe you can safely watch the table read the cast plus Pedro Pascal and Dan Harmon did of this episode over zoom to raise charity funds. Pedro Pascal fills in for Walter Goggins (Pierce's executor), and is just absolutely precious: ua-cam.com/video/V6Q_nlSULio/v-deo.html
Did no-one not mention yet that if you go back to past episodes, Britta owned a nano iPod in the future, Troy wanted to eat a ghost, etc? The Britta thing is an Arrested Development level pay-it-forward joke.
I watched a video about "who is the ACB" before I watched a single episode of Community. (Film Theorist) 5 minutes after that video I started my first Community-Binge. The ACB has a special place in my heart, and my wallet and my pants. "Olympic pole-vaulting hopeful Brent Underjaw" ... Abed in D&D Episode "I am not good in making up names" - yeah - he wasnt kidding.
@@jwkoelkerWell I looked it up to be sure..They both do commercials and they do look similar to each other, so easy to confuse them..But Winters does/did some Allstate Mayhem ads..
My theory is that it's the group, or multiple people within the group acting out, for their own reasons: 1. Abed has an incentive to make life less boring and more like TV. He is also probably the only one who could plan smth so elaborate. 2. Annie had a suspicious moment at the end. She is also in control of the narrative, and part of the "chase". Not to mention it gives her time with Jeff. She was also the only one ever concerned with ACB before it happened, allowing her to go "I told you so" (she loves that). 3. Troy loves "butt stuff", and if Abed is involved he probably wouldn't give him real trauma. So this is just him playing a role. 4. Britta did have a suspicious moment at the end but I don't really know if she would have a reason to. This is just a thought, chosen more because it would be interesting than anything else.
Can go unnoticed, but Pierce actually left Shirley a bunch of debt. Timeshares are so brutal it's advised that you forfeit it as soon as you inherit it so you don't get stuck with that.
I always mention to reactors that S5 Ep4 has a great table read that the cast reunited to do over a Zoom call during Covid. There's a special gueat star appearance (dont look into it), and it's a great come down from the series finale. Please consider reacting to it at that point. 😊😊
Nobody ever recognises Ben Folds in these reactions. Also the ass crack bandit episode is a straight up parody/homage of Zodiac the Lynch movie about the Zodiac Killer which is why the case isn’t solved in this episode.
I'm undoing my previous comment, because talking about whether or not they return to this is technically a spoiler. I will say that if you ignore ONE specific event that contradicts it, I think (at least at this point) there's a clear candidate.
During production of season 5, Donald Glover was making disturbing tweets, then eventually it was announced he was leaving the show. Cooperative Calligraphy signaled Troy’s impeding exit.
You guys should also watch the Zoom table read for Ep 4, it was a nice reunion with the cast years after the show ended.
I love that so much
Please do this Ramblers!

Wow. Just wow. Who would've thought that was a setup for something 5 seasons later.
Walton Goggins is in a bunch of incredible shows. The Shield. Justified. Fallout.
Oh wow. Those are some big shows as well
I would highly recommend u watch the table read they did over zoom of the funeral ep, it’s hilarious 😭💀
The name of the sail boat was “Childish Tycoon” referencing Donald Glover’s stage name Childish Gambino, which was starting to take off around the time they filmed this season.
Oh that's a brilliant easter egg.
Quite possibly my two favorite episodes of the entire series. Loved the reaction.

Genius setup

Great recommendation, thanks.
So we don't find out "officially" from the show ....EVER?
@@RamblersInc They do give hints as to who it is.. That's why the Film Theorists video is so good because they analyse all the hints and clues 😄
We're back to what Community does best - elaborate film parodies and bottle episodes.
And what a pair of fine examples!
💯
Such a strong streak between episode 2-5 in season 5, the consistency of these final seasons aren’t on the level of s1-3 but the peaks are really high
As long as they throw in some insane episodes mixed with some parodies, we'll be satisfied.
Yes! One of my favorites, you can actually look up the entire ACB song performed by Ben Folds. "It was a quarter to five, it was a quarter to a$$..."
It seems only on YT can you find it, FYI; didn't have any luck on the streaming services
Just repeating the line "it was a quarter to a$$" in my head😆
The film style of episode 3 is based on David Fincher's work
It's so weird they didn't see the similarities to Se7en. Especially at the beginning of the episode.
Ahh ok. We've only seen Gone Girl but love that style.

THAT's the one. Thank you.
Pierce's Lawyer in this is the Ghoul from fall out.

hurray! Still loving that regularly scheduled community
i quote this ep daily lolol.. "this [insert whatever food im eating] tastes good in my real mouth.. om nom nom"
😂
Basic Intergluteal Numismatics has to be my favourite episode of this season. One of the best of the entire show IMO
Duncan likely has a roll of quarters only for self-defense; if you recall that Chang punched him out with one at the end of the first season.
Oh yeahhh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Estate lawyer dude in 5x4 is Walton Goggins who's a fantastic character actor and, by the by, you guys should react to the Fallout series ;)
We really want to get to that at some stage. Hopefully soon 🤞.

👌 Shows should do more of this.

Dave Matthews is the bandit.
That's what they want you to think.
@@JackBarrugonHootie and the Blowfish started this rumour.
😱😂
I did it.....EVERYWHERE!!!!
😂
I saw a great fan theory about Abed being the ACB.
Hmm 🤔
Prof Duncan has some of the best lines. He is Tuna and pickles as they say in England.
🤣
The lawyer guy (Dean Winters) usually does commercials for Allstate Insurance, in which he causes Mayhem..
Ah, close. It's Walton Goggins who has been in tons but currently in Fallout.
@@jwkoelkerWell I looked it up to be sure..They both do commercials and they do look similar to each other, so easy to confuse them..But Winters does/did some Allstate Mayhem ads..
Walton Goggins for sure, and he's largely famous for being in Justified as Timothy Olyphant's nemesis, Boyd Crowder.
after the ass crack bandit episode, if you havent seen zodiac by david fincher, you really should!

Love a "whodunnit" or those kinds of movies where you have to solve a puzzle. Added to the watchlist 👍

Oooohhh I like this theory. It's like an unhinged version of the group.

We've already seen it as someone on our Patreon recommended it. Pedro Pascal was a welcome surprise. Just as funny too 😂

hmmm 🤔
Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon had a huge falling out behind the scenes leading to Chevy getting fired.
We have stables ?
😂
I still think it was Annie.
Abed
Magnitude. Drop drop!
But then why the act in the Prof's office ? 🤔
During production of season 5, Donald Glover was making disturbing tweets, then eventually it was announced he was leaving the show. Cooperative Calligraphy signaled Troy’s impeding exit.
…and Britta receives the IPod Shuffle foreshadowed in Animal House ending in season 1’s Art of Discourse.
