Ripley called both elevators as she was pounding on the buttons impatiently, then the Queen saw them get in and it go up, so it's not a huge leap for it to understand that you get in and it goes up.
Exactly - and remember when she first came down, the elevator (once it had reached the bottom), automatically returned to the top level. So the Queen didn't have to do anything, she just got in and rode it up. Though I admit I love the idea that the Queen was smart enough to hit the top floor button and suffer the Muzak while hissing to herself about what she was going to do to that goddamn human.

And as I said, he went out like a boss.
"My head hurts. It was really good." Funnily enough, that's actually pretty close to the positive review that film critic Roger Ebert gave this movie back when it first came out. He essentially said that it earned top marks for being so well-crafted and effective, but also noted that the nonstop rollercoaster of anxiety and fear left him feeling drained and unhappy once it was all over. :)
I heard he was in the running to play the Terminator with Arnold playing Kyle Reese. But when Cameron saw them stand side by side he was "Nah this ain't gonna work"
@RamblersInc There is another actor in this who had a Terminator appearance : Bill Paxton, who played Private William " Game over man" Hudson in Aliens also played an unnamed street punk in The Terminator. One of the ones Arnold's Terminator kills for their clothes, shortly after arriving in our time.
Most people know the "This time it's war" tag line. I prefer the much spookier and scary alternative tag line, "There are some places in the universe you don't go alone."
"Game over, game over man!" was not scripted. Paxton made it up on the fly. The picture of Ripley's daughter was actually a picture of Sigourny Weaver's mother. When the movie came out, compaies called the studio to find out where they bought the loaders seen in the film. The loaders were puppets and miniatures.
The worst bit guys, is that whoever in the Company who had ordered Ripley’s crew to investigate it in the first movie, must’ve died, retired, or the mission information was just lost-Because the Company at the time Ripley was found, didn’t even know that the alien spacecraft was on LV-426-Even though they’d colonized it. The company only became aware anew, when Ripley made her report to the ICC regulatory body, which reviewed the events on the Nostromo. Meaning that Ripley was unknowingly responsible for the Weyland-Yutani sending the settlers to the spacecraft site. Ripley knew the coordinates to the ship. Otherwise it was like a needle in a haystack, finding the ship in that mountain range.
Aliens is my favorite Sci-fi film and I really enjoyed watching it again with you guys, instant subscription! The rest of the franchise is bad, although Sigourney Weaver gives a great performance in each. Alien 3 is infuriating! Alien 4 Resurrection has some interesting elements and performances but it's a "B" grade movie at best. The scene at the beginning of the movie where Burke tells Ripley about her daughter was cut for the theatrical release for time, which was very disappointing for Sigourney Weaver when she first saw the final cut of the film on opening night. The making of Aliens is a fascinating tale in itself, well worth your reaction imo. The friction between the production crew at Pinewood Studio were loyal to Ridley Scott and resented this Canadian upstart James Cameron. The Terminator hadn't been released yet in the U.K. so he was an unknown director. It's a wonder that Aliens was even made at all, James Cameron had to fire some folks who disagreed with his lighting choices and other things, but they came to a compromise and made it work somehow. Great reaction, take care ❤
@@RamblersInc The other scenes that had to be cut for time in the theatrical version of Aliens is all the early stuff on the planet, "Hadley's Hope" and the scenes with Newt and her family traveling to the Alien ship. The Auto Turret Sentry gun scene also was absent from the theatrical version, all cut for time.
It'd be cool if they reacted to the huge 3 hour documentary of the making of this film, its full of wild stories and drama. ua-cam.com/video/VWLKwrmYd6A/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
There are a *lot* of people who were in both Aliens and one of the Terminator movies: Michael Biehn (Hicks in Aliens & Reese in Terminator), Lance Henriksen (Bishop in Terminator & one of the cops in Terminator), Bill Paxton (Hudson in Aliens & one of the punks whose clothes get stolen by the Terminator in Terminator), and Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez in Aliens & John Connor's foster mother in Terminator 2). James Cameron is one of those directors where if he likes an actor, he's going to push for them to be cast in more of his movies: he works with a lot of the same actors over and over.
I love how Burke makes us root for an Alien. The "tank" is a converted airplane tow tractor you'd see at Heathrow or JFK. I'm pretty sure the interior scenes in the vehicle were not actually in the vehicle.
Aliens is the biggest, most epic emotional roller coaster in the franchise. We care more about the central characters than in any other movie. Thats because of James Camerons groundbreaking use of 3D storytelling. Thats why Aliens is the best movie in the franchise and possibly the best sci-fi monster movie ever made
During the movie's premiere Paul Reiser, Burke's actor, brought his mom to watch with him. When his character died sweet old mom was cheering and fist pumping with the rest. There's some kind of compliment there to his acting skills.
Great reaction! Please do Alien 3. You've got to see where these four end up. The Alien franchise will forever be my favorite. I remember running to the movie theater to see this as soon as it came out and it did not disappoint.
@@miller-joel I get it now, you're one of those who don't like when others don't have the same opinion as you. Then you try to belittle them. I see the stupidity now. Sorry if I don't "cry harder" on demand.
Paul Reiser, who plays villain Carter Burke, was cast against type here. He has a likeable persona and usually plays nice guys. But he was so evil here that at the premiere Reiser's own mother reportedly cheered when he got killed.
I like that this movie reinforces the notion that these Aliens are INTELLIGENT. Anticipation and ambush in the first one; intelligently selecting the best initial (Marine) targets in the first hostile encounter in this one, then avoiding the automatic gun station after a bit, and finding a better path of approach and attack after, plus elevators, etc. And the Company is indeed being "turnips" again, but at least this time they had more than a single large wrench to fight them with.
Isn't it great that the showrunners realized that these first two films were so good that it would be useless to try to improve on them, and decided not to make any more sequels?
Great reactions guys! You revived the terror in my stomach. Again I enjoyed your exchanges, ideas and realizations. I'm happy to see you noticing directors and actors. By the way when Paul Reiser (Burke) took his mother to see the movie she joined the audience in cheering Burke's demise. When my wife and I were sitting in the theater and the lights started dimming we looked at each other and said "what were we thinking?" It was like the beginning of a roller coaster ride and you're slo-o-o-wly reaching the top. I love this movie and don't have a favorite because they are both different. Oh and I never watched another Alien movie because of people's experiences and opinions. I did see Prometheus though but not thrilled with it. More questions than answers, probably for a sequel. Thanks for the reaction!!
They changed up the subgenres, here, and that's why it worked. The first film was "spam-in-a-can sci-fi horror (in fact, it was the first "spam-in-a-can horror film), but this one was action-adventure military sci-fi (albeit with some horror elements). It would've been all to easy to just re-make the first film with a different group, but to change up the story in such a way makes for a great sequel. Don't watch any of the others with Ellen Ripley, though -- just assume she and Hicks and Newt made it back to Earth, Ripley won a huge settlement from Weyland-Yutani, and the three of them bought a farm in Montana or something. "Alien: Prometheus" isn't a terrible film, but it's not nearly as good as the first two, and it is far better than either three or four or "Alien Vs. Predator" (which is just stupid).
The child who played Newt didn't continue acting - she became a schoolteacher. She and Sigourney Weaver have been close friends ever since filming this.
It’s insane, given the reason for the Marines’ mission, and the alien threat to be found on world, that the fuckNg Drop Ship would just sit there with its doors open, like a taxi 🚕 in a bad neighborhood at night. The moment the Drop Ship landed and the troop transport was deployed, the pilot should have closed the doors, kept the ship secure.
Goreman might go down in history as the worst military commander in movie history-He couldn’t even command a fire team. The minute Ripley pointed out that they could not use their heavy duty firearms near the cooling tower-He should have recalled his team-Hell if anyone had bothered to read Ripley’s report they wouldn’t have gone to where all the colonists were located-They would’ve realized the colonists were likely already dead.
@@RamblersInc -Oh so funny enough. I found out in the backstory, that Burke was allowed to choose the Marine commander for the mission. Weyland-Yutani had sway because the colony was jointly administered with the government-And he purposefully chose Lieutenant Goreman. Because he wanted someone inexperienced whom he could manipulate.
One thing. In "Alien", the company sent the Nostromo to find the creatures and bring them back. But even after 57 years and with a colony on the planet for 20 years, the company didn't try to send anybody else to get the creatures until after Ripley's investigation hearing.
You mean the yellow loader? That was also parodied in the game Conkers Bad Fur Day. They also did a fps of the opening to Saving Private Ryan, but with teddy bears.

So glad you watched the directors cut which has some great extra scenes, btw all the Alien movies are worth watching, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are worthwhile movies in my opinion, and the recent Alien Romulus is loads of fun.
No. It starts with a retcon that breaks continuity, so it does not follow Aliens. It kills Hicks and Newt in the opening credits, off-camera. Ripley gets infected, crash-lands on a prison colony, she's almost r*ped and then she dies. Garbage.
James Cameron likes to use actors that he's worked with before....he used Bill Paxton in Titanic and True Lies, Lance Henriksen (Bishop) was in Terminator, Sigourney Weaver was in Avatar
This movie proves the horror movie rule that the more monsters there are the easier it is to kill them. In Alien, there was just one and it was impossible to kill. In Aliens, the difficulty is that there's thousands.
I am posting this before the review. I got to see this in a sneak preview in 86. They had to two machine gun scene and they showed the colony with the families. I was always disappointed they removed those scenes when I went back to see it again and purchased it on DVD. Fun Fact: If you ever played Blizzard's Star Craft, if you click on the human shuttle pilot repeatedly she eventually pays homage to Aliens. You will hear her say: 'In the pipe, 5 by 5.' The weapons in the movie were based on real guns. They actually copied a shell of an MG-42 and modified it to make the Vazquez big machine gun.
yellow loader queen boss fight was also parodied in the game Conkers Bad Fur Day. They also did a first person shooter of the opening to Saving Private Ryan, but with teddy bears.
@@RamblersInc I suspect the two machine guns, add great suspense, improved run time and pace. The colonists probably to add suspense to what happened. It reminds me of seeing the original edit of Star Wars. In that case it improved the pacing of the movie and you didn't miss much. Without it you don't understand why he knows Biggs before the trench run but that is the only thing it hurts in the movie.
Science fiction / science author Isaac Asimov came up with three rules of robotics (with influence from author John W. Campbell) in one of his classic robot SF stories in the 1940s -- 1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2) A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. The rules have since been expanded and debated by Asimov and others and today still form a basis for thinking about AI.
I prefer not knowing what went on in the colony before the marines arrive, but keeping the mother daughter scene/connection, there's a perfect inbetween cut needed.
"Aliens": Third Officer Ripley has been found and taken to Gateway station with a Xenomorph-size case of PTSD. Whjat will The Weyland-Yutani Suits make of her blowing up the "Nostromo." 1:55 "Alien," the first movie, was directed by Ridley Scott. 5:30 I first saw this scene in 1990, after I bought the "Aliens" Special Edition Laserdisc(!), and was the first of extra scenes that added depth and pathos to "Aliens." 11:36 Actor Jenette Goldstein is/was a bodybuilder, so pull ups were no sweat for her. Fluent in Spanish, she went to "Aliens" casting as a Latina gang member. (The origin of the "illegal alien" joke?) Her prominent freckles drove makeup artists bonkers. James Cameron prefers to work with a pool of veteran actors. 14:24 Ripley shows Apone and Hicks that she isn't a front office paper shuffler like Burke, but a working class dog, like themselves. 15:00 A ex-Nazi-era MG42, set on a Steadicam harness. 16:22 While Private Hudson rants, Corporal Hicks catches 40 winks. 17:58 The Hamsters, like Jones the cat, was too small to be a Xenomorph host. 20:25 In 1986, I noticed that Ripley was able to "get close quickly
@RamblersInc He did. Bishop, Vasquez and Hudson were also in a great, brutal vampire movie called Near Dark....directed by James Cameron's ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow, who won the Oscar for directing The Hurt Locker.
In the aliens timeline prior to Aliens you can see people shooting at xenos in Covenant, Alien Romulus and the survival horror game Alien Isolation. What you find is non-military weapons like pistols and shotguns don’t do anything but piss it off. In fact in Aliens right before Vasquez and Gorman die you can see Gorman shooting at one with his 45 and it just glances off the aliens head. Vasquez had to fire hers point blank against its head to penetrate. Likewise the only kill we see with the shot gun is when they shove it into the Aliens mouth. On the flip side the m41A pulse rifle firing 10mm explosive tipped light armor piercing rounds kills them quite nicely but sprays acid everywhere. If you enjoy survival horror give Alien Isolation a shot. You play as Amanda Ripley, Ellen’s daughter who died at 66. Which is actually false since I got her killed several dozen times in her 20’s. It plays and looks more like the original movie and is quite terrifying.
@ I’d say for most of the game you are being hunted. Being this is the Alien universe there’s also human and Android antagonists that add to the fun. Amanda is an engineer working with the company hoping to find some clue why her mother went missing. Since she’s an engineer you can craft some devices to distract enemies allowing you to sneak by. But if the Alien catches sight of you you are dead. Eventually you get some options to drive the Alien away for a little while but they become less useful the more you use them as the games Alien AI is pretty nasty on harder levels. It’s also got some DLC where you can play as some of the original characters from Alien voiced by the original actors and you can go into the air shafts in the Nostromo to hunt the Alien like Dallas did. Thanks to the success of Romulus they just announced a sequel game. (The director was a big fan and you can see some homages to the game in the movie)
Bill Paxton is the only actor who have been killed (on screen) by all of an Alien, a Predator, and a Terminator. If you expand a little, arguably Lance Henriksen kinda qualifies as well, but not really.
There is a deleted scene where when Ripley enters the nest to rescue Newt. She encounters Burke, who already has an alien inside him. Ripley hands him a grenade and moves on to find Newt. This however is the explosion that causes Ripley to detour in to the queen’s lair.
I'm not up to date on Alien lore, but since I watched this movie I suspect that the Xenomorphs are - at least - as intelligent as humans. They had stealth cunning, knew how to cut the power and use the elevator. They might be pre- technology, but they certainly were able to adapt and improvise.
They put Ash in a bag with some rice. BTW, I'm glad you liked the final movie in the Alien series. The final movie. Trust me, you don't need to look that up.
Love your reaction! About the rest of the franchise, I would say this, 3 and Resurrection are flawed, some might even say they're heavily flawed, so when they came after TWO masterpiece? It's could feel even worse, but if you go in with low to no expectation, they both are not that bad of a movie, personally I like to rewatch Resurrection. Prometheus and Covenant are quite enjoyable too, but they both feel totally different vibe and they're not perfect. So there hasn't been a movie in this franchise that bring back the feel and quality like the first two for decades now and I think Romulus can! It's a great movie, not a masterpiece or as iconic as the first two, but very good! I would watch the reaction if you guys continue with the franchise
I can suspend my disbelief about parasitic humanoid aliens with acid for blood. But the most unbelievable part of this movie is Paul Reiser as a bad guy.
The one action I agree with by the company is revoking her flight officer status. There's 57 years of technology to catch up to. It would be like a Vietnam pilot trying to fly a 2024 F35C
"The Terminator" and "Alien" sagas' two main similarities: 1. The first two films are great, but the following sequels are redundant and of poor quality. 2. The ending of the second film gives the audience a strong sense of hope for the future. Producing consistently good sequels is very difficult, which is why it rarely happens. Sometimes, film producers shouldn't make any sequels! Leave the first one alone!
Well guys my favorite Movie series. I told you in comments of Alien to watch PROMETHEUS, before this one. I tell every reaction maker to do it but no one does. Prometheus s the prequel to Alien, Well your loss...51:40 your best reaction🤣 Well this is a great movie. if you decide to do more movies do Prometheus next and then the sequel to it which is Alien Covenant. As far as the other movies i think they are junk, other fans will disagree. I havent seen Romulus yet so can't say. Next scary movie should be ""Exorcist '73"" hehe. or for Veterans Day do "Devils Brigade"... its the true story of the first WW2 joint US and Canadian Special Forces unit. It big budget production and no other youtubers have made a reaction to it.
Aliens III is really not worth watching in my opinion. I really wish they had ret-conned it out and just gone to Alien Resurrection.... which is not all that good either, but better than III. Just stop here, you'll thank me.
cameron liked to recycle his actors bill paxton there with the knife was in predator 2 terminator and here in aliens dies in all 3 lol also the actor who played bishop was in the original terminator
Honestly, I always preferred the theatrical cut. If I remember correctly, the special edition mainly adds 3 things: 1) Ripley learning of the death of her daughter 2) The scenes with the colonists before everything goes to shit 3) The scenes with the turrets I think the turret scenes are the most unnecessary - it really doesn't add much to the story and I think it messes with the pacing having the scenes in there. It's more like a pause in the actual story where the characters are just watching a bunch of monitors for a minute and then go back to the rest of the movie. I also dislike the scenes with the colonists. The acting seems a little weak here and it destroys the mystery. In the theatrical cut you only see the colony through the eyes of Ripley and the marines, asking the same "What the hell happened here?" type of questions as the characters. Having the early scenes with the colonists running around, exploring the wreckage and coming back with a facehugger kind of spoils that arc. No need to explicitly show that to the audience, they'll figure it out by watching the marines as they explore the place. Or better yet, the audience can fill in the blanks in their mind - the version I always imagined as a teen was way more exciting than mom and pop going out to look for some Alien eggs. Lastly, the scene with Ripley's daughter is mostly fine, adding some additional tragedy and some context to her later relationship with Newt. It's the scene I have the least issues with, although I still maintain it isn't really needed. Ripley was in stasis for almost 60 years and probably lost everybody she ever knew and loved (or at least made those relationships extremely awkward). Plus her witness account gets completly dismissed, she gets stripped of her flight officer position and has to do some shit jobs at the loading dock. That's already tragic enough. And Ripley's quasi-motherly feelings for Newt really don't need an explanation. Hell, it would work just as fine even if Ripley never had a daughter of her own in the first place. The movie is still fantastic, of course, no matter the version.
I think the daughter scene shows us why she has such an emotional attachment to Newt. You're right. It's not a make or break scene but it helps flesh Ripley out a bit more as a character. The turrets scene is just cool.....and intense as the audience is shown that we're in real trouble.
The first one was a brilliant monster/horror movie. Realizing that doing the same thing again would not be all that entertaining and original. So make it a war movie! I think it works. And I don't think any of the rest of the movies are worth it Just my opinion ...

And the actor playing Bishop, "The artificial person" was also in The Terminator, As one of the cops..
I heard he was in the running to play the Terminator with Arnold playing Kyle Reese. But when Cameron saw them stand side by side he was "Nah this ain't gonna work"
Wow. He liked a lot of the actors from that movie.
Best bit of improv from Paxton.
28:52 -- Dr. Dresden from The Expanse (30-ish years earlier).
Cool, especially considering how much the Alien series influenced The Expanse.
Wow. Such a small world.
Damn. When you think of it like that, can you blame them?……yes, yes you can 😂
Aliens is my favorite Sci-fi film and I really enjoyed watching it again with you guys, instant subscription!
Worst scene to cut. It gives context.
Rubber is impervious to most acids, but it may have damaged the underside of the tank. Granted, the tank may have been resistant as well.
Time to make armor out of the tank
I love how Burke makes us root for an Alien.
The "tank" is a converted airplane tow tractor you'd see at Heathrow or JFK. I'm pretty sure the interior scenes in the vehicle were not actually in the vehicle.
Right? For the only time in the movie we weren't mad at that death.
😂
Great reaction! Please do Alien 3. You've got to see where these four end up. The Alien franchise will forever be my favorite. I remember running to the movie theater to see this as soon as it came out and it did not disappoint.
Don't lie to them.
@@miller-joel Out of over 80 comments here, you picked mine to troll? Get a life!🙄
@@islandgreenstrong There aren't 80 comments lying to them about 3. Cry harder, poor victim.
I just realised he was in Beverley Hills Cop. Savage from Mama Reiser 😂
@@RamblersInc ... Yes, Reiser played Axel's pal Jeffrey, who was also very annoying! 😆
That critical thinking from them made it even more scarier.
I need to stop calling people turnips 😂
and like the Terminator movies there was no more made after the 2nd one... thank god.
"There's too many faces!" XD I have to remember and use this somewhere, such a great quote.
😂
😂 Which one of you sunk into their seat first?
"Ripley won a huge settlement from Weyland-Yutani, and the three of them bought a farm in Montana" - 😂
how in the world did you spot john connors step mom so fast? i saw this movie 1000 times and didnt realize who that was.
I have that scene from T2 with the “blade arm” in johns step dad’s face whilst he’s drinking milk BURNED in my memory since I was a child.
and suddenly Troy and Abed's matching halloween costumes in the zombie halloween episode become so much more awesome.
Funny how we're catching up to Community references weeks after watching them 😂🤦♂️
If you look very carefully, you will still see Ripley's gun still in the hatch
"The company being turnips again."
Best line, ever :)
Also, good job on being one of the first reactors to ID Jenette Goldstein. 🙂👍
The child who played Newt didn't continue acting - she became a schoolteacher. She and Sigourney Weaver have been close friends ever since filming this.
That's actually beautiful.
Great reaction guys, an endlessly quotable action movie. With one of the nastiest, slimiest and vile antagonists of all time: Burke.
Glad you guys decided to go ahead and watch the sequel and had some fun with it!
Like a taxi 😂
Goreman might go down in history as the worst military commander in movie history-He couldn’t even command a fire team.
The minute Ripley pointed out that they could not use their heavy duty firearms near the cooling tower-He should have recalled his team-Hell if anyone had bothered to read Ripley’s report they wouldn’t have gone to where all the colonists were located-They would’ve realized the colonists were likely already dead.
I blame whoever put him there in the first place. So many simulations and no real experience. Doomed.
One more reason to hate Burke lol
@@RamblersInc Yeah, Paul Reiser and James Cameron really crafted an irredeemable ethic free worm in Carter Burke-A true accomplishment.
One thing. In "Alien", the company sent the Nostromo to find the creatures and bring them back. But even after 57 years and with a colony on the planet for 20 years, the company didn't try to send anybody else to get the creatures until after Ripley's investigation hearing.
how convenient lol
Hey! I’m Cecilia. It’s a delight to meet you!
Haha. So British! Egg opens to release deadly impregnating alien. "Er..no thankyou" So polite :D
🤣
The Exoskeleton scene was referenced in Community during the Zombie Halloween episode !
You mean the yellow loader? That was also parodied in the game Conkers Bad Fur Day. They also did a fps of the opening to Saving Private Ryan, but with teddy bears.
Now we get the reference...a couple seasons later 🤦♂️
5:03 lol I like how one of you was relieved it was a dream and the other was annoyed they were trying to fool you
19:05 gets people every time
41:45 this movie does such a good job of showing the overwhelming odds and creating tension and fear
Such a great sequel. Enjoyed your reaction to it.
That motion sensor thing-a-mabob is one of the best things to provide terror in this franchise.
So glad you watched the directors cut which has some great extra scenes, btw all the Alien movies are worth watching, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are worthwhile movies in my opinion, and the recent Alien Romulus is loads of fun.
Another great reaction, thanks guys😊
Alien 3 is different again but is good watch especially if you wanna know bout Newt, Bishop an Hicks.
Dog or Cow-version?
No. It starts with a retcon that breaks continuity, so it does not follow Aliens. It kills Hicks and Newt in the opening credits, off-camera. Ripley gets infected, crash-lands on a prison colony, she's almost r*ped and then she dies. Garbage.
@@miller-joel Thanks for all of the plot spoilers. It's greatly appreciated.
@@AlanHigh-x4i Anytime.
Strong female leads we love to love. Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor, and Delenn.
James Cameron likes to use actors that he's worked with before....he used Bill Paxton in Titanic and True Lies, Lance Henriksen (Bishop) was in Terminator, Sigourney Weaver was in Avatar
Good work guys! Thank god they decided to end the franchise there. A perfect farewell to all.... sigh.
🤣
Paul Reiser played Burke and told the story, that when his mother saw the film, she cheered when the Alien killed him!
Not just that, it was at the premier because Reiser took her to it as his date.
😂 oh that's savage
So glad you did this one!
This movie proves the horror movie rule that the more monsters there are the easier it is to kill them. In Alien, there was just one and it was impossible to kill. In Aliens, the difficulty is that there's thousands.
When Ash told Ripley that they couldn’t kill it, he did so because the crew had no guns.
Ash knew that the xenomorph had a huge advantage.
@Stogie2112 He didn't want her to try because he needed to bring it back to Earth.
The 80s, man. We Had ST II: TWoK, Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Terminator 2...
It was a good decade for science fiction sequels.
Golden age for sci-fi?
@@RamblersInc we're going through a fairly good one these days, I think. Star Trek, for one, was never as strong as it's been these last few years
47:38 “Look at the size of that thing!”
Red Leader: “Cut the chatter, Red Two. Accelerate to attack speed.”
😉😉
🤣🤣🤣
"At the beginning of the movie?!?" Yeah, I know right? What idiot would kill a beloved character right at the beginning of a movie??? ...... Right??
😂😳
I am posting this before the review. I got to see this in a sneak preview in 86. They had to two machine gun scene and they showed the colony with the families. I was always disappointed they removed those scenes when I went back to see it again and purchased it on DVD.
Fun Fact: If you ever played Blizzard's Star Craft, if you click on the human shuttle pilot repeatedly she eventually pays homage to Aliens. You will hear her say: 'In the pipe, 5 by 5.'
The weapons in the movie were based on real guns. They actually copied a shell of an MG-42 and modified it to make the Vazquez big machine gun.
yellow loader queen boss fight was also parodied in the game Conkers Bad Fur Day. They also did a first person shooter of the opening to Saving Private Ryan, but with teddy bears.
I'm confused as well. It makes no sense removing those scenes
What's to debate? All 3 make sense to me.
Ripley's whole connection to Newt is reinforced by the segment about her daughter, which was cut from the theatrical release.
Way too important of a scene to be cut. It actually gives context.
"Xenomorph-size case of PTSD"- 😂
Bishop was also in Terminator. He was one of the cops in the police station that gets annihilated by Arnold.
He must have loved a lot of the actors from that movie.
@RamblersInc He did. Bishop, Vasquez and Hudson were also in a great, brutal vampire movie called Near Dark....directed by James Cameron's ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow, who won the Oscar for directing The Hurt Locker.
Wife and husband Oscar winners. Now that's elite.
Hey fellas, I just found the channel. Y'all were a hoot. I'm definitely going to check out more.
Thank you 🙂
In the aliens timeline prior to Aliens you can see people shooting at xenos in Covenant, Alien Romulus and the survival horror game Alien Isolation.
So you’re hiding from it in the entire game? 😵
I barely made it through a game called Dead Space 😂
I haven't even played it and I got scared just from reading your description 😨
Android antagonists as well? Yeh i'm dying 500 times lol
"I think perhaps I might not want him to make it through this movie."
not my proudest moment😂
Bill Paxton is the only actor who have been killed (on screen) by all of an Alien, a Predator, and a Terminator. If you expand a little, arguably Lance Henriksen kinda qualifies as well, but not really.
There is a deleted scene where when Ripley enters the nest to rescue Newt. She encounters Burke, who already has an alien inside him. Ripley hands him a grenade and moves on to find Newt.
This however is the explosion that causes Ripley to detour in to the queen’s lair.
Oooohhhhhh. They should have kept that in because I got confused as to how Ripley found her way in that area.
@ they cut it because Cameron realised not enough time had passed for Burke to already have ab alien inside of him and be conscious already.
Actors playing Hudson, Hicks, Vasquez, and Bishop were all in Terminator under Cameron. Keep expecting Arnold to pop up.
Oh man. Can you imagine if that happened 🤯
Cut my favorite line: “This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training. … Why don’t you put HER in charge?”
😂
I'm not up to date on Alien lore, but since I watched this movie I suspect that the Xenomorphs are - at least - as intelligent as humans.
They had stealth cunning, knew how to cut the power and use the elevator.
They might be pre- technology, but they certainly were able to adapt and improvise.
Any monster that knows how to cut power in a horror movie is the scariest thing ever.
They put Ash in a bag with some rice.
BTW, I'm glad you liked the final movie in the Alien series. The final movie. Trust me, you don't need to look that up.
😂
The man on the left will regret calling bishop.A ten can trust me
😂
Ripley turns into a bad ass mama grizzly bear.
Perfect description 👌😂
Remember Troy's costume from the Greendale Halloween party?
And after all this time, now we can finally appreciate it 😂
Ripley called both elevators :-)
How thoughtful. 😂
I can suspend my disbelief about parasitic humanoid aliens with acid for blood. But the most unbelievable part of this movie is Paul Reiser as a bad guy.
🤣
That just shows his strong acting talent. Many hateful villains are played by wonderful people.
The one action I agree with by the company is revoking her flight officer status. There's 57 years of technology to catch up to. It would be like a Vietnam pilot trying to fly a 2024 F35C
Fair point.
"The Terminator" and "Alien" sagas' two main similarities:
7:55 the colony commander also played the captain of JMC Red Dwarf, he does not have the best time in sci fi!
I just looked him up. He was in the fifth element as a cop. Didn't fare well in that either 😂
I remember. We flipped a coin and Aliens won 😂. We'll definitely get to Prometheus at some point. Maybe Exorcist before that.
By the way, the marines arent firing random bullets. These are incendiary tank busters
Crazy. That's what it takes to hurt one of these things.
@RamblersInc Exactly
Great reaction, but now its on to Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. This will lead you to the last great Alien movie, AVP, Alien vs Predator.
We'll add it to our watchlist👍
Aliens III is really not worth watching in my opinion. I really wish they had ret-conned it out and just gone to Alien Resurrection.... which is not all that good either, but better than III. Just stop here, you'll thank me.
😂 That bad?
cameron liked to recycle his actors bill paxton there with the knife was in predator 2 terminator and here in aliens dies in all 3 lol also the actor who played bishop was in the original terminator
Honestly, I always preferred the theatrical cut. If I remember correctly, the special edition mainly adds 3 things:
1) Ripley learning of the death of her daughter
2) The scenes with the colonists before everything goes to shit
3) The scenes with the turrets
I think the turret scenes are the most unnecessary - it really doesn't add much to the story and I think it messes with the pacing having the scenes in there.
Shame they didn't make more great Aliens films. Oh well.
😂
Moulded congealed alien snot walls . ..
ewwwwwww 😂
it will be cool if they make prequel of aliens called hadleys hope.
I'd watch that. It'd be just the colony descending into chaos.
"Air lock the sequel". Yeah. Get used to it.
😂
