  • Michael Jordan's Airwaves was a tv show that aired locally on WLS-TV in the Chicago area in 1989. Local sports TV guy Jim Rose interviewed Michael Jordan in an "Oprah-style" setup, and even tapped into the audience for some one-on-one questions. This footage is the property of Chicago station WLS-TV.

    I've been reading these comments here regarding MJ's head and how bad it looked. But these folks must be under 30 and don't realize that it baldness wasn't the norm then like it is today. In fact, MJ was the trendsetter for head shaving. He started shaving his head shortly after this because he was obviously balding and decided to go all the way with it. In doing so, he made it the trend.

      It wasn't uncommon back then for dudes to embrace and rock their receeding hairline back then with no problem. Infact a receeding hairline in some circles was a symbol of maturity, kinda like gray hair

    I like he didn't try to hide his hairline, as a confident man is not insecure about it.

    • @RebeccaYen
      @RebeccaYen 2 роки тому

      @Ken Managbanag Why doesn't this "Someone" just go bald?
      Nobody really talks about MJ's hairline.
      Honestly If I were a man with hair loss, I would just go bald.
      People would soon get used to it anyway.
      In general, women's appearances receive much more scrutiny than men, so I think it's a very convenient hair style for men as they could still look cool and stylish, but that's just my opinion.

    To clear things up a bit, this interview was done right before the 1989-1990 season started, so it had to be in September or October of 1989. Michael Jordan was about to start his 6th season.
    The 8 years referred to all the minutes he played for the Bulls up to that point, he was always among the leaders in minutes per game early in his career. If you include playoff games, the minutes M.Jordan played up to that point probably equaled 2 or 3 more full seasons compared to the average NBA player
