  • This is what we eat in a week as a family of 3.
    Each week is slightly different to another one but this haul is a great exemple of what we usually buy ;-)
    I hope you enjoy❤
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    I'm on Instagram : / shinewithplants
    My Blog : shinewithplants...
    Muffin recipe:
    Ingredients for about 10 to 12 muffins
    1/2 Cup mashed sweet potato (cooked)
    1 Cup Gluten free rolled Oat
    1/4 Cup Unrefined coconut sugar (or any sugar powder of your choice)
    1/2 tablespoon Ground flaxseed
    3 Tablespoon Almond butter (any nut butter will work)
    1/2 Cup Almond Milk (or any dairy-free milk)
    1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla powder
    1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 Tablespoon baking powder
    1 + 1/2 tablespoon water
    1 pinch sea salt
    Method
    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
    ➡️Make a flax egg by mixing the ground flaxseed with the water. Let it sit in the fridge for about 15 minutes to thicken.
    ➡️Oat flour : Place the oats into your food processor/blender and process until you get a powder-like consistency.
    ➡️In a large bowl, add the oat flour and all the dry ingredients and mix well.
    ➡️ In a small bowl, whisk the flax egg and the milk and pour it into the dry mixture along with the mashed potato and the Almond butter. Mix very well until you get a batter.
    ➡️Pour the batter into a muffin pan (approximately 1/4 cup batter for 1 muffin). Bake for about 25 minutes. I know it's ready when a knife comes out clean.
    🔥Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for few minutes. Enjoy!

      Except they are b12 and iron deficient. Lets not forget the essential meat fats. Tragic for the child.

      Their diet seems to be to low in protein and iron and maybe iodine, because seaweed doesn’t always have iodine in it depending where it grows.

    • @kendra3917
      @kendra3917 4 роки тому +12

      @@jalifritz8033 Purple irish moss, and sea moss in general has plenty of iodine, there is a long list of veggies that are high in protein and iron. In fact, meat isn't always the best source of iron and protein and most meat from the standard grocery store is nutrient deficient because of the commercial meat packing process. Unless you're getting your meat local/chemical free it's not the best in terms of nutrient density. I hope everyone does proper research, these tropes have been debunked.

      Daniel P You do know that animals don’t naturally produce B12. They as well are supplemented. And they also get a good portion of B12 from the soil because that is where it actually originates.

    Tip to new moms: if you fill your kitchen with delicious fruits and vegetables, if you don't introduce the typical American "kid friendly foods" (Gogurt, string cheese, nuggets, cheerios, gold fish, cereals, etc) your kids will grow up LOVING healthy foods. They are delicious but unfortunately can't compete with processed food which comes with chemicals that make them addictive, especially for little kids. So don't confuse your kids. Go all in. All healthy. Start when they are babies and you will see what happens. It will amaze you. ❤

      I'm a proud Daddy. My son was three when he grabbed a whole head of broccoli and told me he wanted it. He had never had it before. But of course I gave him one to try. He loved it and now he's seven and still eats raw broccoli. He actually hates cooked veggies. He prefers them raw. Today I gave him cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes and broccoli and he was so happy. We are not vegan. We are pescatarian but we like a lot of fruits and veggies and when we do not have the occasional fish we have vegetarian foods or even plant based foods.

      Jaimie & Damon they never going to say the truth cause for sure is A LOT of money..organic food is so expensive...anyway our views pay all...so they don't really care about the price (what i undesrstand)

    • @OfftoShambala
      @OfftoShambala 6 років тому +7

      Jaimie & Damon I would venture to say that in my area, between Costco and sprouts, without really shopping around for deals, just maybe buying a little more of what’s on sale and in season and a little less of what’s more expensive and out of season, that this amount of produce, not including the dulse or other bagged things she was talking about, could be bought for $140 to $160.... I might do a comparative test and see. But that is for two adults and a 👶... I know people who spend way more than that every week for a family of 3 on the SAD. My son is now spending much time at his dads and I have found that I can get away with about 80 per week on produce just for myself... I have been planning to do a 50 dollar a week challenge for an 80% raw diet... I find that potatoes and barley are quite affordable and make great bases for soups and crockpots that are more filling. I do think it would be challenging to eat 100% raw on $50 per week for one person. It can be done, but u have to plan and maybe shop 3 or 4 sources, rather than one or two... so then it becomes more of a time and gas cost concern if u have to drive a way to go to a farm or farmers market, for example. Luckily I live in an area with a lot of options within a mile of my home in all directions, literally. So gas is not an issue, but I could easily spend 4 hours going around to get different deals st different locations, plus at least an hour pre shopping the ads... I have determined that my savings for this effort is usually $20 on average, so I pretty much just stick with my two regular stores, Costco is amazing, and I am done shopping in less than 3 hours. I think it’s the time I spend that is more challenging... during the junk food years, I ate almost entirely convenient junk food a lot more than I realized I was doing... but, I have learned to keep it simpler than when I first started.

      When I shop without process food and only organic I spend around $200 for a similar stack of produce. the most I ever spent was $300. produce alone are not that expensive. I find we spend to much the minute we start buying premade healthy vegan options. During the summer I can spend a little over $100 per trip to the store which is every 4 days.

      I am sure she just eats them as produce and juices them. She is high-raw so she's eating a lot of raw fruits and veggies. You don't cook them so eat as-is. Fruits you eat as they are and juice with the greens plus make salads. It looks like she had sweet potatoes. You don't have to do anything special. Brown rice you cook and add sauteed veggies. Very simple diet.

      Naa Kai congrats on your decision to consume a more healtier diet. Some things to remember is that you should eat 80%alkaline foods to 20%acidic foods. If you're over the age of 21 you only need 20% of protein in your diet daily. Fruits should only be 15% of diet and only consumed during 11am to 5pm if you live in a predominantly hot climate. Never each a starch with a protein, and never go to bed with uneliminated food in your gut. If you must eat passd 7pm then consume soups or a smoothie, water, green juice. Before starting any diet change be sure to flush out your colon (three days on 3 days off for a month). On the days off of your cleanse, consume 40 billion units of probiotics in liquid form to replace your good gut flora. And make sure you intake natural sources of vitamins and minerals(both macro and trace) daily. Most of your meals should be raw, and if you are consuming three meals per day, then you should be producing three bowel movements per day. Hope this helps!☺

    Do you get the weird fruit fly things? I noticed we only get them when we have bananas sitting out. It is very frustrating.
    I have tried a few home remedies to get rid of them but nothing works.

    • @ABCDEFG-li2qn
      @ABCDEFG-li2qn 6 років тому +22

      Bananas attract fruit flies because of their scent. I’d suggest you peel and store them in plastic bags inside your fridge. Also throw the peels as far as you can. Not in the house. Those are the major culprit.
