literally cannot stress ENOUGH how important “you’ll always find your way back home” was to me as a little girl like !!! the song talking about how you can always try new things ! you can change your mind ! you can try new versions of yourself and not put yourself in a box but somehow you’ll find a way back to the place (physically or emotionally) you find yourself more at peace and at home idk it rly was THAT deep for me

I was such a big Hannah Montana fan as a kid, and for my 11th, my aunt took me to see the movie went it came out. Let me tell you, when she sang "The Climb," I balled my eyes. It took me weeks to recover, and then when the last episode premiered, I didn't know what to do with my life. I wanted to be like Hannah Montana so bad. Even to this day, at 24, it is still a dream embedded in my brain.

I remember growing up watching Hannah Montana and I would always hear that argument that just because she puts on a blond wig no one knows who she is and how ridiculous that sounds then I would refer back to when my mom and dad watched one full episode with me and my siblings to see what all the fuss was about they were so lost and couldn't figure out who was who and then we had to sit there and explain to them that Hannah Montana is Miley Stewart and Miley Stewart is Hannah Montana

i lived for awhile in a place similar to the stereotype that’s shown in this and honestly like…i didn’t live on a farm but it was pretty close to it and there was extreme bigotry, racism, homophobia, ableism etc and yeah it basically fucking sucked but i like the fictionalized version!!

Sis I envy you so so much, I live in Mexico in a small town, so I was never able to go to one of Hannah's concerts, but at that time nothing would have made me feel happier than that. Until now at almost 20, I think about the "wath if" and it makes me so excited, Hannah was such a huge part of my childhood that I get kinda sad when I realize I never had that experience.
The whole Billy Ray who knows Hannah situation, you're forgetting his alternate ego was Robby Ray, who is the one that is supposed to be Miley's Dad, and even though his disguise was even more ridiculous then Miley's, his being only a mustache, we've already established nobody in this show will ever fucking connect the dots lmao everyone is so stupid in this universe xD
It was a good concept for a TV Show one of my favorites as a kid even, as well as other kids around the world during that time, but then you grow up and realize how dumb it is that no one could ever figure out who she was, with the acceptation of only one person figuring it out on their own lmao xD

This Hannah Montana movie will always have a special place at the back of my mind and possibly heart. It's been a part of my childhood as well. This was one of those days when the Disney Channel was still on television. Hannah Montana is just a persona. Well, clearly, she's keen on finding her real self in this one. It's also about reconnecting with people that she has withdrawn from. Overall, it's pretty great. The songs in there 3will probably be eternally memorable at this point in time.

I think the reason billy Ray was upset at her being Hannah all the time is moreso because if she’s always the pop star she’d never have a real childhood. He had a childhood before he got famous so he wants the same thing for her.
And lily was upset because almost everyday of her life revolves around hannah. And yeah it’s an amazing time to spend with her friend and join her on her adventures. But I think she was upset because her birthday was the one that everything was meant to be about her and Miley was meant to join her on her adventures. But Hannah took that away and made it about herself again
But Miley can’t help that paparazzi was following her. Lilly can’t have expected that Miley was gonna reveal herself just to go to her party.
Every time I watch this movie, I absolutely love seeing Taylor pop up, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Never fails to amaze me.

no because butterfly fly away made me sob as a kid I remember going to the movie theaters with my mom and my dad and they accidentally booked too many tickets so there is no more seats when I saw the movie so I had to sit on my dad‘s lap to make it work and I remember when i saw that scene i sobbed 🥹
I also felt the exact same way about growing up with Miley/Hannah and the show, when the last episode of Hannah Montana aired I literally bawled my eyes out because I realized how old I was 😂 and I mean actually bawling my eyes out, not tearing but actual ugly crying. I think it was both such a huge part of my childhood ending and just suddenly realizing that I was no longer a kid and was an adult. This movie still means so much to me and I’ll always have such a soft spot for Hannah Montana no matter how old I get.
This movie actually helped me through my parents’ bitter divorce and took my mind off of what was happening in my home life.
Rascal Flatts performance is sooo underrated. We can all agree that the climb had us screaming crying throwing up, but the scene where Miley was holding a picture of her dead mother while an acoustic version of God Blessed The Broken Road played was the first time we all shed tears during this movie.

The funny thing is that The climb originally was a more faith related song, then it was adjusted when pitched to the movie.
They put too many expectations on a girl who threw away aspects of her teen years to be a pop sensation. Everyone who "cared" about Miley wanted her to be like every other average girl and to throw away Hannah as the persona was a temptress who misguided Miley; Everyone who love Hannah unintentionally made Miley die off as they expected Hannah to be this full time entertainment slave.
She never won, and that is mostly due to the fact that she had no idea who she was or what she wanted because she had negative influences as Miley and as Hannah. In a sense the movie deals with misogyny and generational trauma.
She avoided home because home only brought out the coutnry in her, and her family felt that country was all she needed to be a proper girl. As much as she loved the fame and artistic endeavors she also felt easily manipulated by the industry and maybe even by her fans. Everyone blamed her regardless for not choosing either one, when she was quite literally both.
So she has this major identity crisis and can't balance being estranged from her current home in her past home. Not only that, but her hometown is what constantly reminds her of her mother; it realistically would add on to the anxiety and confusion as Miley would sit there and wonder what her mom would tell her to do as well. Hannah was a shield to protect Miley from the industry, but she was also an outlet for Miley to channel her artistry with no fear that her failures would reflect her daily life and true self.
With that, she sort of relied on Hannah as a protector and as a healer. I don't think she should have held on to Hannah for so long, but the show wrote her off as doing so. It realistically would have been healthier if Miley took a break to find herself and came back with this newfound sense of security.

I so agree with you about not having a Hannah Montana, I'm so glad I grew up with her and the show. I actually did watch HSM The Musical The Series (the title smh) and that was my reaction, I'm glad new tweens have a good show to watch that's age appropriate and fun, since shows for tweens basically don't exist anymore. It's either cartoons or Euphoria. I'm glad Disney is bringing that genre back, I hope they'll do many many more shows like it.
Growing up I would reenact scenes from this movie every time they'd play it on Disney and pretend I'm Miley living a double life, I thought Hannah Montana was so cool and I was obsessed with it 😭 it's so charming, I love the iconic revolving door scene, the climb and Hannah and ugh I miss this era and these movies, it was so fun!

I was an extra in the movie for 4 days during the finale/carnival scenes. It was hot as FUCK those days and as you can see, it was all in the sun. Everyone in the cast was really sweet, except the girl who played Lilley. You can see me for .5 seconds next to the paparazzi when he runs off. He was standing next to me lol
Also..Miley and Lucas were totally dating during this too lol. I got to take a picture with him at the end of day 4 and he was so incredibly nice. He was hot too but stayed to take pictures.
