I will forever be salty that the Percy Jackson fandom cant thrive as much is Harry Potter is solely because of the movies not Doing the books justice
The Harry Potter movies are vastly different from the books, the difference is that while the HP movies are good in their own right, the Percy Jackson movies are bad, whether you read the books or not.

The first one made me so mad. I’m gonna state just a few of the reasons.
• Hades is innocent and doesn’t want a war, if anything he just wants to live in peace
•Persephone loves Hades because Hades is not abusive or cruel to her. In fact he’s like maybe 5 times better to her than Zeus is to Hera.
•Percy does not fight Annabeth and even if he did he wouldn’t win because Annabeth is the daughter of Athena who is the goddess of wisdom and warfare so Annabeth has great battle strategy. This girl was fighting monsters with only a hammer at 7 years old
•Grover is a shy and scrawny cinnamon roll who doesn’t have perfect skin. Movie Grover is a confident and muscular lady’s man who has perfect skin.
I could say everything wrong with the movies but if I did I’d be here all day
fr i’ve only read like the first few chapters of the first book and i LOVED them, and when i watched the movies i was like “wait- where’s the redhead girl that’s a bitch to percy- AND WHERE TF ARE THE OLD LADIES WHEN THE BUS CRASHED OR SOMETHINg??”

Elyanna Vigil i remember when i watched it for the first time i got so annoyed at the littlest changes like Percy looking at Medusa through the back of his fucking ipod instead of a piece of glass and the pen sword being a CLICK pen instead of a cap. like why??
I mean if they had done this fight at a beach (at the sea, no lake) it would have made a little sense if Percy stayed in the water, because later in the books he was able to hang with the god of war in the water. But then again Annabeth wouldn't have been dumb enough to keep fighting there as soon as she realised it was the water giving him strength, so maybe I'm just trying to look for some kind of positivity there.
I love how everyone just accepts that the Vegas scene was the best

4. The books are quickly and fun, the humor is really great. The books don’t have the same charm

7. PERCY WAS NOT LOOKING FOR HIS MOM HE THOUGHT SHE DIED HE WAS LOOKING FIR THE LIGHTNING THEIF AND THEN WAS FRAMED BY FREAKING LUKE
8. Non of the great side characters are mentioned.
Clarisse was mentioned in movie 2 but she plays a big role in the whole series

14. THE MOVIES ARE CLICHÉ AND PREDICTABLE
15. The trio stayed at the Lotus Casino for DAYS because no, the gods don’t care enough to warn their kids
16. Annabeth wouldn’t have known about the Lotus Casino because SHE HASN’T BEEN ANYWHERE SINCE SHE WAS 7
17. Where did Annabeth learn to drive?? And why is she driving well??
18. “Thalia was your friend, she sacrificed herself for you!” Uhh she was your friend too, Annabeth. And Grover’s. She sacrificed herself for ALL of you, not just Luke
19. The movie never explains how persuasive Luke and Kronos are. Those nameless/faceless characters are indeed demigods, but you wouldn’t know because the movie never says so because God forbid you actually sympathize with the villain!
20. Why did Kronos eat Luke?? What?? Luke’s supposed to be under Kronos’s control, doing his bidding!
21. Correct me if I’m wrong but Annabeth wasn’t stabbed/ almost killed at the end, right? That felt cheap to me

My name is Bella Thorne and this is the story of the time I found out I had dyslexia. I remember when I started first grade. Right away, it was awful because I couldn’t read as well as the other kids. My brain mixed up letters like b and d, and m and w. Dyslexia is different for EVERYONE who has it. For me, it just made it harder to read or write I started working really hard on how to read better. My family helped me by making me read everything from menus, to cereal boxes, to road signs. Today, I read a year above my grade level. And I learned to face my problems, not run away from them. Dyslexia makes things hard for me, not impossible.

I think the thing that bothered me the most as a kid watching sea of monsters was when they didnt include the guinea pig part :/ i was mad disappointed
That was the best part of the books. Removing it was a criminal offense.
That and the part where Percy and Annabeth where crossing the sea where the sirens lived. Both were amazing scenes of Percy and Annabeth that I loved and it mad me so angry the didn't even include it in the films! (Well, it probably wouldn't be a good scene in the films even if they *had* included it since Percy and Annabeth have no chemistry in these movies)

See, the problem with Medusa's line "I used to date your daddy" is that the entire reason she was transformed from a beautiful virgin follower of Athena to a snake-haired monster after being raped by Poseidon in Athena's temple. Depending on the teller, Medusa was either transformed as punishment for being raped by Athena OR Athena transformed her so she could protect herself from any man who tried to do it again. I much prefer the latter version cause it gives Athena more empathy.
In the books, medusa was actually into Poseidon and they had consensual sex in Athena's temple. Athena was reasonably disgusted, but because Poseidon is her uncle and a god, she couldn't do anything to him so she cursed medusa instead

Rick decided Medusa had consensual sex and Poseidon just wanted to get back at Athena which is why he chose the temple, so that is what his opinion is. Does it make any difference? No. Does it make any kind of impact if he chose to make Poseidon rape Medusa? No. She would want to get back at Poseidon either way and Rick just chose this one
But you choose to critisize it, you have certainly the right to do so, I just gave my opinion

lmao yeah in the books none of the gods knew he even existed! this was the whole reason why poseidon took a few weeks to claim percy; he wasnt sure if he should take such a big gamble and make himself seem guiltier. during these few weeks, percy was in a cabin with tons of unhappy demigods, felt pretty powerless, and his resentment toward his dad really started to form (even though it was only a few weeks). this was the beginning of a very big theme of the entire series: the demigods feel rejected bc the gods can be dicks. like, THATS THE WHOLE REASON PEOPLE SUPPORTED KRONOS, AND THEY SKIP RIGHT OVER IT TO SAVE A FEW SECONDS!!!
It's even more absurd in the book. They assumed it was a 12 year old boy who had no idea he was a demigod until 6 months after the Master Bolt was stolen and *not* the campers who were on a frickin' _field trip to Olympus_ when the crime was committed!
I feel the movie could’ve made this conflict even more tragic had they kept Percy as a 12 year old as opposed to a High School student

They really hurt Luke the most here. His characterization, granted, everyone's personality just went out the window. Along with basically everything. So glad we're getting a show, just hope we can watch it.

What’s hurts is that Luke was meant to be someone that despite his flaws you understand why he hates the gods. They just use their kids and most of the time don’t claim them. Even Percy in the books can’t help but agree with Luke in his ideals.

I can understand the frustration of slow burn, but I just think it was justified in the series. Plus, with Athena not really liking Poseidon...

I love that basically everything you were confused about in the movies was explained in the books.
Not seeing Percy's reveal that he's the son of Poseidon done the way it was in the 1st book hurt man, that was an epic ass moment and they completely blew it
There was literally no way to mess up making a Percy Jackson movie, the story would've been amazing visually. But they magically managed to do so.
I love how the end to the second movie leads to a third about Thalia and the prophecy when there's basically no threat because lava man Kronos is gone and Luke got eaten (I think?)

Ugh in the books Annabeth was just so COOL. She was strong, yes, but what I really liked was that she had her flaws, and they didn’t try to paint it as “she had to get rid of them” but rather “this is what makes her Annabeth, and it’s her fatal flaw”. She was so HUMAN.
And she had her own story and her own quirks and arcs, and she wasn’t just there to be “Percy’s girlfriend”, she was there to be “Annabeth Chase”.
Then in the movies she was the token “strong female character” who is actually useless without the main dude. -_-

And Poseidon raped Medusa in Athena's temple, and while she was being raped, Medusa prayed to Athena. But did Athena help? No. Instead, Athena was disgusted at the fact that she was praying to her while being raped, that she cursed Medusa into what she is now.
But.... In the books it was consensual, no? I remember no mention of rape in the books, and I read that additional book where Percy explains greek myths, which are cannon to the pjo universe

I Think the biggest problem I have with the movies is how they treated the Luke storyline. I cried so muuch in the books whenever they talked about Luke, Thalia and Annabeth being a family and now how much he has changed and stuff. The best villain ever
