You still got air in there brother. Find a shop that can bleed it for you using a power purge instead of doing it manually with the bottle connected to the helm. If you are positive that it is 100% bleed properly then there may be an issue with the helm. It could be sucking air in through the steering wheel shaft seal. I have been an outboard mechanic for over 20 years and I cannot tell you how many customers have seen with air getting into the seal on the helm shaft because while driving the boat and hitting waves they hold onto the steering wheel and all of their body weight pulling on the steering wheel to keep their balance pits a lot of stress and wear on the helm and seal. If it is for sure bleed and has no air in the system and you truly aren’t finding any evidence of air RE entering the system through any of the seals then the helm itself is likely the problem. When the internal parts inside the valve body wear out or start sticking. You will find that the skipping that you are describing will happen when there is a lot of load on the system like trying to steer the outboard while it is tilted up in a higher position and when you are trying to start steering in the opposite direction after steering it hard into the lock limit. It sounds like one of the valves inside the helm is getting stuck when you bring the wheel hard over to the lock. If you are 100% sure that the system is completely free of air and it was bleed properly and you are not losing any fluid from the seals at the helm or end cap seals and fittings on the cylinder, and the stainless steel rods on the cylinder are smooth and free of burns and scratches that could cause air or fluid to leak through, then I would say that you need to disassemble, clean, and reinstall a helm rebuild kit, or just buy another replacement helm all together if it is an older helm. And always use sea star brand fluid only.

My boat is a year old and started doing this exact thing. Same deal I’ve bled it a dozen times. Mine skips going in both directions. It’s really bad when it’s cold then after some use it gets better but always does it to some degree when under a heavy load.

It's your helm spool valve is sticky. I wouldn't buy a new one, get a shop to take it apart and clean the helm.

Still to this day does it. Replaced helm, seals, and power purged it, no avail.

Hi, did you figured it out?

Did not. First replaced the helm, same problem, then replaced the seals, same problem, then had local marina power purge it, same issue. It’s not a big deal just annoying, I’ve learned to deal with it.
